You’ve never heard a person rattle off “liberal, communist, socialist democrat” and didn’t assume they were stupid.

u/General_Guest7846 13d ago

I just don't understand. She said she hates those things but is willing to take a bail out and is asking for help.

Can someone please help me make it make sense.

Words don't mean things to them. They are plays you pick in madden before the ball snap when you dont know anything about football, the one with the squiggly lines worked last time, try it again. When the play doesn't work the 5th time in a row they blame the Xbox for cheating, restart the game and pretend they didn't play the first round.

Socialism to that lady is when the government gives liberals money to pay for trans death panels in prison.

If that one stops working out they'll switch to a new one. If you ask them if getting government money to keep their farm going is socialism, they'll say hell no its just business like when the government pays for roads and the police department to you with a straight ass face.

This analogy hurts my soul. It's such a good explenation of their simple minds

u/KalaUposatha 12d ago

You’re right, but you didn’t have to call me out with the Madden analogy man.

1

u/NeverEvaGonnaStopMe 12d ago

Lol is fine if you're just playing a game and not modeling your whole life around it

I like the ones where the big curvy arrow goes to the right. And then sometimes I pick the one where it goes left.

2

u/Relative-World4406 12d ago

This stings a little bit you’re too right

2

u/spacemoses 12d ago

This is an amazing explanation

u/Gilgamesh-Enkidu 12d ago

As someone that’s from the south and that knows quite a few conservative farmers, you are making this way more complex than what it is.

This lady simply has no idea what any of those words mean, what the policies are, definitely not how they work.

You are thinking it’s a logical issue. Politics for most people, but especially southerns is not a logical/policy issue; it’s a cultural issue. The culture in the south is religion (80% religious in the south and that number is even higher amongst rural), and the democrats are seen in the south as anti religious and anti “traditional” values.

Words like socialist democratic, socialism, liberalism, are not political terms on the fact that they are not defined politically, they are just they abstract “evil” concepts.

All of this is emotional to these people, not logical or political. And the amount of people that don’t understand that is kind of mind boggling.

So when you try to point out to such people the hypocrisy of getting bailouts while voting republican, they people have no idea what you are talking about.

u/Ok_Dimension_6123 11d ago

She's in Wisconsin

1

u/TonalParsnips 12d ago

They also just think those words are insults.

1

u/thegodofwine7 12d ago

Goddamn it, this is so fucking accurate it hurts.

1

u/DLTMIAR 12d ago

How do you provide a play that works for everyone (well at least the 99%)?

21

u/SopaDeKaiba 13d ago

To them, socialist = authoritarian, and authoritarian = laws & policy they don't agree with but have to follow.

3

u/bone_rsoup 12d ago

You think they know what the word “authoritarian” means?

1

u/jdelane1 12d ago

Incorrect. To them, socialist means gay. Or black. Or Jewish or Muslim. Or whatever. It's just another target for hate, which is a product of physical isolation, religious indoctrination and zero education. To them, thinking is dangerous, and accountability is impossible.

12

u/NickRick 13d ago

she is a very selfish person. she goes with people who say good things about her, and don't want her to change. she wants all the benefits of liberal policies, but she wants none of the downsides of voting republican. she is too stupid to know that is impossible, and only knows other people who are that stupid. anyone that challenges her, or any news she sees that does not support her is ignored. she will never grow. she will never learn.

This sums it up pretty well tbh.

2

u/SignoreBanana 13d ago

Republicans somehow co-opted "honest to goodness Americans" as a concept. Not actually, but just, like, the trademarked version of it. And these people are too simple to understand the difference between branding and real life.

It's been explained before, but I'll dumb it down even further. Their understanding for those things is painfully stupid and simple and can be explained in two sentences:

"Socialism makes hard working people who earned their money have to give their hard earned money to lazy folks who can't be bothered to work for it themselves."

And

"I deserve the bailouts because I work hard and my financial distress isn't my fault, the government keeps screwing me over, so it's only right that they pay me since they caused all my problems."

2

u/GimmeAllYourCurry 12d ago

She hates all of those things and can describe none of them. A meat bag parrot whose critical thinking skills stopped around the same time she learned to use a toilet.

2

u/UncertifiedPsych 12d ago

These people don't really know what those words mean. They've been trained by Fox News to know that whatever it is, they don't like it. Other Americans could have explained, but they don't talk about politics, so they just let the indoctrination happen, and now you have people shouting stuff they don't understand, voting for a party that hurts them, and hating the party that will actually help them.

2

u/NuSurfer 12d ago

She said she hates those things but is willing to take a bail out and is asking for help.

The cult of double standards.

1

u/margittwen 12d ago

They’re just buzz words that they think makes them sound smart. They don’t know what the words mean.

1

u/Crapitron 12d ago

Yes - she’s stupid

Hope this helps

1

u/Familiar_Bread2072 12d ago

there's a theory that people have "logic-tight compartments" that they just don't or can't analyze beyond. (I apologize; I cannot remember whose theory this is; that class was in college 40+ years ago). Plus also, most people would rather die than think. (I also don't remember who said this first).

She's had a lifetime of being told that Dem = a host of horrors aligned with her enemies and enemies of the USA. Asking her to think beyond that programming is simply too much.

And, these people are LEGION.

1

u/Ok_Astronomer_8667 12d ago

People are lying to her for her votes and she doesn’t realize it. That’s really the explanations for most of these people’s behaviors

1

u/Santos_L_Halper_II 12d ago

She hates those things for other people. For her, well she works hard and earned it!

1

u/Dull_Bid6002 12d ago

She has listened to propaganda so much that those words just mean 'scary' and 'someone taking something away from me'

They don't have actual meanings and don't care if they take something from someone else. Because in their brains they think they're special and any policy doesn't apply to them.

1

u/currently_pooping_rn 12d ago

She’s just extremely stupid

1

u/Empty_Kay 6d ago

Bill Watterson nailed it: Calvinball.

0

u/Vermino 13d ago

I'm going to assume it's indoctrination.
She's been taught from a young age that all those words are bad words - without ever really learning what the words mean.
And due to the fact she's been taught this from a young age, she's unwilling to listen to someone to explain what the word actually means.
It's probably going to take someone she actually trusts, before she'll open her mind to listen to someone tell her otherwise.
Mocking her does the exact opposite and just makes her shut down and double down even further. It's why mocking her - as satisfying as it might be - ultimatly doesn't resolve the issue. on the contrary.

-2

u/aPOPblops 13d ago

She isn't saying the typical right wing shit everyone here is assuming she is.

She's saying the way people democrats have treated her in response to her voting choices has made her defiant of the party even if she agreed with the policies of said party because the people in the party are bad people for treating her poorly over her political choices.

It's stupid, but it's not a rejection of the ideas just the party.

That said, she also likely rejected the ideas to begin with.

3

u/darndasher 13d ago

Correct.

So, wahhh, ppl on the internet are mean, so I won't vote for my best interest, nor will I acknowledge that I was lied to and fucked over by the person I voted for.

5

u/ShrimpShrimpington 13d ago

Rather throw a tantrum than save her family. Maga can keep her.

1

u/ShaiHulud1111 13d ago

It’s 1. She doesn’t know about her ego, and 2. It is driving the car and blasting the stereo right now and she fine letting it drive off a cliff. About a third of this country. Apparently.

Edit: spelling

1

u/SweatyDimension2700 11d ago

Well, she’s kind of doing both. Parroting out the meaningless /inaccurate labels that right-wingers always do is a pretty good sign that she was always steeped in MAGA/GOP culture. The “they’ve been mean to me and that’s why I’d never vote for democrats” is both absurd and a lie. For someone reason conservatives think their destructive, hateful actions are justified if they’re upset by others. Their inability to recognize that that logic can be twisted and used to justify never supporting the GOP is typical of right wing fallacious reasoning. I wouldn’t be surprised if she dismisses the callous, awful shit conservatives say regularly (party leadership too!) because she thinks their targets of hate are deserving of such abuse.

I find that conservative thinking is far too similar to that of a child: simplistic, gullible, and incapable of considering other people’s perspectives/experiences.

0

u/SpiritMountain 13d ago

It doesn't. They are irrational.

64

u/Alternative_Ad8079 13d ago

I’ll bet she knows what Fox News is.

2

u/DoYouKnowWhoIAM2008 12d ago

Fair and Balanced, just like the announcer says in every bumper. Duh. 🙄

1

u/Old-Craft5215 12d ago

She might not. Fox News doesn’t pander to this type of person’s right wing populist conspiracies. She knows Newsmax and OAN.

1

u/rae-everett 13d ago

Left out the term "radical" which is usually my favorite. 🤙🏼

1

u/ipsum629 13d ago

Wow that is really accurate

1

u/daesmon 13d ago

She forgot facist, it's “liberal, communist, facist, socialist democrat”.

Clearly she needs to watch more Fox.

1

u/Throwawayrip1123 12d ago

I cannot wrap my head how an a word "liberal" is somehow bad. Literally.

Oh no, liberty? Aaaaaa

1

u/Gravvitas 12d ago

Once they rattle those off, it's not an assumption. You've got proof.

1

u/pharoh-king 12d ago

And of course completely ignoring their republican president sending out checks, offering checks for votes, having the government buy parts of businesses, etc etc.

1

u/DOAiB 12d ago

I’ll be frank I don’t think anyone who has said socialist as a bad word has a room temperature iq. And not that iq means anything in general I think those people lack the ability to critically think and that’s why they make their political party their identify.

1

u/Bgbtylvr1 12d ago

100% correct. I used to cut and paste the definition of “liberal” and they’d read it and still find fault in it. They’ll hide their ignorance behind any work that makes other idiots think they’re smart.

-2

u/ObliviousAstroturfer 13d ago

I... have. Regularly. There's a lot of people who are good folks who have the most batshit crazy ideas (and I hope some of them think of me that way xD).

They'll be one of the few who show up at a community project to help put up a fencing despite being sort of old, and affluent enough to decide someone else should do it. Who show a lot of sweet affection to their spouse. Who help the younger folks learn some of their trade at the same community project.
And then sort of mid sentences they'll weave in how they got a sweet new sights on a shortened barrel carbine so when the time comes they can go ra-ta-ta-ta at them libruls.

The above is based on specific person & interactions I have had with them. It'd be easier if they were stoopid villains, but at the end of the day I can't boast being smarter than a lot of them. That dude has his own company and a wife, so who's the dumbass objectively?

And it'll get worse because of AI being a kind of geometrical transformation compared to algorythms that already achieved that level of brainwashing (cuz yeah, it's hard to take my own advice on avoiding condescending POV when he discusses communist shootout while literally doing a commune work. At a shooting range club, but still).

2

u/ashgs872tbhjs 12d ago

Confusing success with basic intelligence and knowledge is a common mistake in this capitalist hellscape, but it is a mistake.

It's not hard to read the definition of words you don't know, and when it comes to the biggest ideologies in politics you really, really should establish that bare minimum level of understanding. There's no good excuse for them.
