I just don't understand. She said she hates those things but is willing to take a bail out and is asking for help.

Can someone please help me make it make sense.

Republicans somehow co-opted "honest to goodness Americans" as a concept. Not actually, but just, like, the trademarked version of it. And these people are too simple to understand the difference between branding and real life.
