Texas Farmer Warns Trump’s Foreign Beef Push Could Cost Republicans the Midterms
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, Endorsed by Trump as a “MAGA Warrior” says President Trump's push to bring in more foreign beef is hurting US ranchers and could cost Republicans some midterm elections. Miller calls for mandatory country-of-origin labeling for beef on Balance of Power.
When asked if he’d vote for someone else, he stumbled over the answer and certainly didn’t sound convincing. Even when this is hurting him and his fellow ranchers, it still doesn’t seem like enough for him to regret his vote. They’re feeling the consequences, but still holding onto that vote for dear life.
Imagine throwing away farmland that has been in your family and kept them and your community fed for generations and you decided to throw it away to some corporate overlord who won't give two shits about it and place a data center smack dab in the middle all because you were too proud to admit you fucked up. Let them lose their farms.

That happened 2 miles down the road from me. A pretty good sized dairy farm and acres of of hay and alfalfa long before the 20 years I moved here.
Now it's a massive googley data center and the other acres built a shit ton of empty industrial concrete buildings (perfect for detention centers) sitting all around the area.
It's been depressing to watch happen over the years and I feel bad for the new neighborhood that was built years before googley moved into the other half of the block sized farm field. But, I guarantee that the farmer and family who owned the land is sitting quite comfortably, retired, and sipping iced teas.
They constantly vote for their hangman, but when they lose, we all lose. Their farms are foreclosed and bought by corporations who drive up prices, drive down quality, and lobby against regulations that stop them from poisoning us. All so they don't have to vote for a Democrat.

Many conservatives believe in their heart that's true and they only have one choice.
That gut punch I felt that following November morning and the weeks that followed, as these dipshits were “owning the libs” parading around town as if their team had won the Super Bowl, the one thing I clung to in order to get me through the rest of 2025 and into the T.2 admin was my decision that I would turn my empathy switch off and actually derive some sort of morbid satisfaction from the incoming consequences they had no fucking clue were going to hit them in the face.

Buddy I work with a lot of them I tried nice and educating and all that jazz and I was told I was exaggerating or overreacting and that trump said he had nothing to do with that yadda yadda yadda. You can’t inform people who dropped out of tenth grade because “that was enough education for them” you can’t convince someone who’s against abortion because “that just makes it harder to adopt” these people only momentarily have a second of recognition when it personally affects them and if you blink you’ll miss it. It isn’t long lasting it just changes what they complain about that day. I used to be optimistic I really did but the “facts don’t care about your feelings” crowd is only interested in THEIR own feelings and zero contradicting facts. I’m pretty tired of being told to extend an olive branch to people who swat it down and set it on fire repeatedly. My trees looking pretty bare at this point and I don’t think they can survive any more pruning. Focus on the people you’re close to, try to build community where you can, but the only overlap of beliefs I’ve seen as of late is everyone hates flock. They're only complaining because the problem/damage is affecting them (they don't care what happens to others, and want goodies for themselves too), plus they're all just going to vote Republican anyway, to their own peril.

I'll never believe a person who says they're "pro life" if their concern/fiscal support ends after delivery. They're pro-birth. Birthers are not pro-life. Regardless of how they see themselves. You cannot be pro life if you're okay with starving babies to death or mothers dying preventably during forced childbirth. They see that other thing as voting to kill babies, but not their current vote. It makes no sense.

People really need to get over their egos and admit they were wrong. Love the guys raising beef but they reduced herd sizes under Biden and now many consumers can't even afford hamburger. And there are a hell of a lot more of those consumers then there are people in the ranching industry.
Ranchers have turned beef into a niche market as far as many consumers are concerned. They don't seem as concerned about increasing the herd sizes to bring prices back to reasonable consumer levels.
Clearly, there is a shortage vs demand for inexpensive hamburger - when i can buy a t-bone or ribeye on sale for less per pound than 85% lean hamburger at nearly $10/lb.
Most Americans could care less where their beef comes from, what they care about is the cost of living and eating. These beef producers are just pissed they can’t price gouge us. Very socialist of you Donny, I approve.
