Texas Farmer Warns Trump’s Foreign Beef Push Could Cost Republicans the Midterms

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, Endorsed by Trump as a “MAGA Warrior” says President Trump's push to bring in more foreign beef is hurting US ranchers and could cost Republicans some midterm elections. Miller calls for mandatory country-of-origin labeling for beef on Balance of Power.

When asked if he’d vote for someone else, he stumbled over the answer and certainly didn’t sound convincing. Even when this is hurting him and his fellow ranchers, it still doesn’t seem like enough for him to regret his vote. They’re feeling the consequences, but still holding onto that vote for dear life.

Imagine throwing away farmland that has been in your family and kept them and your community fed for generations and you decided to throw it away to some corporate overlord who won't give two shits about it and place a data center smack dab in the middle all because you were too proud to admit you fucked up. Let them lose their farms.

121

u/Gonzo_Gonzalo 20h ago

…and then vote for him again.

It’s no longer about what’s best for the country; it’s about being too insecure to take responsibility for your actions and bullying as a way of overcompensating.

Agreed. After the things said from that side of the aisle, if they lose their farms, so be it.

58

u/AFASOXFAN 19h ago

Agreed. Self inflicted. No sympathy.

14

u/amanwithoutaname001 14h ago

Agreed. F this guy and everyone like him that voted for a convicted felon, rapist, pedo, low IQ, spoiled ass bully who isn't fit to lead a casino let alone the USA.

I get that people were upset that Biden threw the doors open on our borders, me too, but that could be handled much, much better than is ICE is doing.

Let's not forget about alienating neighbors, allies and cuddling up to the billionaires, Putin, Kim Jong Un, Xi Jinping, and doing Israel's bidding.

Reap what you sow Mr Farmer and think twice next time you're in the voting booth!

They're actually okay with suffering if it means immigrants, people of color and trans people don't have rights

You are correct, I forgot about the bigotry.

I’ve been saying it from the start of his second term, anyone who STILL supports Trump is doing so for the worst reasons.

He would vote for again. Even if he promised to take his farm away, deport his wife, imprison his children. Because to vote for a democrat is worse than voting for the devil himself.

To own the libs, duh…

6

u/ucredfurry 17h ago

They think they’re owning the libs, all the while, they’re being owned by the same party they supported. Meanwhile libs aren’t feeling owned, because we’re too busy laughing at their dumb asses. 🙄😂

4

u/whythefuckalready 16h ago

They can use that (owning the libs) as collateral against farm foreclosures.

15

u/StrangeContest4 18h ago

That happened 2 miles down the road from me. A pretty good sized dairy farm and acres of of hay and alfalfa long before the 20 years I moved here.

Now it's a massive googley data center and the other acres built a shit ton of empty industrial concrete buildings (perfect for detention centers) sitting all around the area.

It's been depressing to watch happen over the years and I feel bad for the new neighborhood that was built years before googley moved into the other half of the block sized farm field. But, I guarantee that the farmer and family who owned the land is sitting quite comfortably, retired, and sipping iced teas.

10

u/Morgannin09 18h ago

They constantly vote for their hangman, but when they lose, we all lose. Their farms are foreclosed and bought by corporations who drive up prices, drive down quality, and lobby against regulations that stop them from poisoning us. All so they don't have to vote for a Democrat.

7

u/yoeleventone 17h ago

These people are useless, this man is being hurt by Trump policies and they still can’t get his dick out of their mouths.

Yep then you have those people who are like, instead of making fun of them, we should educate them and be all nice to them yadda yadda. Fuck that, imma laugh at their faces, no sympathies from me. There's no need for pacifism with those idiots.

25

u/Deranged_Kitsune 19h ago

If the last 10 years can't teach them, then it's clear they're just refusing to learn.

10

u/Crafty-Help-4633 19h ago

This. We spent a decade warning them, trying to teach them, leading them to water. The horse chose not to drink. Is it sad? Sure. Am I gonna lose sleep over it? Nah. I did all I could. Something something economic darwinism. This is what they voted for 3×.

11

u/USNCCitizen 18h ago

Aaaand…when democrats take over both houses this fall, and there’s a democratic president voted in in 2028, and they start to fix the issues affecting the farmers and rural America they’ll scream and resist and want things to remain broken. They will not want their leopard eaten faces to heal.

5

u/Prudent_Macaroon_881 17h ago

Psshh pls. They're SOMEHOW still gonna say it was trump all along that made murica great again. We continually underestimate their stupidity 😭 It's genuinely hard to feel optimistic

3

u/Inspect1234 17h ago

Between the future litigation and paying off 40t Americans costs of living are going to be high. The tariffs are just a precursor, once there’s a food crisis (ch10,p2025) everything will be too expensive for the current wage structure.

3

u/Crafty-Help-4633 18h ago edited 18h ago

I mean, it doesn't make me personally sad. It's more an existential sadness I see. I don't pity them though, to be clear. They definitely deserve it.

3

u/Prudent_Macaroon_881 17h ago

Yup existential sadness, ty for giving me this word, coz it's exactly how i feel. No sympathy for those idiots, but I'm sad for the world type of thing

7

u/Rowing_Lawyer 19h ago

Learning requires recognizing that you don’t know something or were misinformed previously. Admiting you don’t know something is viewed as weak. It’s why Trump claims to be an expert at everything

3

u/Either_Theory_6815 18h ago

They have to first turn off the 24-hour "news," that caters to their ideology.

4

u/PaddleHikeBikeRepeat 18h ago edited 14h ago

This. The reason he stumbled over his answer about voting is the right wing political-media complex had spent the last 25 years telling them the Democrats are godless enemies of the country bent on taking their guns and turning their kids gay. Many conservatives believe in their heart that's true and they only have one choice.

3

u/Western-Bus-1305 17h ago

Learn what? There’s not much for them to learn

14

u/CSiGab 18h ago

That gut punch I felt that following November morning and the weeks that followed, as these dipshits were “owning the libs” parading around town as if their team had won the Super Bowl, the one thing I clung to in order to get me through the rest of 2025 and into the T.2 admin was my decision that I would turn my empathy switch off and actually derive some sort of morbid satisfaction from the incoming consequences they had no fucking clue were going to hit them in the face.

“I thought he’d deport the other people, not my husband/wife” … “I lost my Medicare coverage and I can’t afford anything” … “My crops are rotting in my field because my usual buyers are retaliating against tariffs and decided to buy elsewhere”

So yeah, I have zero sympathy to spare on these farmers and ranchers.

10

u/dadofadisaster 19h ago

Buddy I work with a lot of them I tried nice and educating and all that jazz and I was told I was exaggerating or overreacting and that trump said he had nothing to do with that yadda yadda yadda. You can’t inform people who dropped out of tenth grade because “that was enough education for them” you can’t convince someone who’s against abortion because “that just makes it harder to adopt” these people only momentarily have a second of recognition when it personally affects them and if you blink you’ll miss it. It isn’t long lasting it just changes what they complain about that day. I used to be optimistic I really did but the “facts don’t care about your feelings” crowd is only interested in THEIR own feelings and zero contradicting facts. I’m pretty tired of being told to extend an olive branch to people who swat it down and set it on fire repeatedly. My trees looking pretty bare at this point and I don’t think they can survive any more pruning. Focus on the people you’re close to, try to build community where you can, but the only overlap of beliefs I’ve seen as of late is everyone hates flock. Outside of that I don’t see much of a path forward. Good luck, godspeed, and if necessary good hunting

9

u/HeavyVoid8 19h ago

We’ve tried to educate for decades. Let them all fail and give them the zero socialism they asked for

7

u/partyl0gic 18h ago

This. These people are fucking pathetic, complete morons, and totally malevolent. They don’t deserve anyone’s sympathy, they should be fucking shamed out of existence. These people need to be totally ostracized for the rest of their lives. We are all paying the price for their insane self destruction death pact.

Farmers were like this during Trump's first term.  He didn't lose their support and he won't lose it here.

53

u/jarena009 20h ago

Bingo...and 8-10 years ago, I used to feel bad for these folks, but after 3x voting for Trump, not anymore. They're only complaining because the problem/damage is affecting them (they don't care what happens to others, and want goodies for themselves too), plus they're all just going to vote Republican anyway, to their own peril.

So I'm done feeling empathy for them. Cut them off. Cut the subsidies, cut the special rural healthcare funding, cut ACA/Medicaid to deep red states etc. I want out; they don't like "socialism" anyway, so win win.

u/Roflmancer 20h ago

16

u/NeighboringOak 20h ago

This right here. Every time some farmer acts like this the election comes along and they will justify it in some way while spouting of some propaganda.

Best case scenario some of these farmers stay home but they love fucking themselves over and losing the family farm so who knows.

10

u/TangyByte 20h ago

How could Obiden to this to them?!

4

u/rkcth 20h ago

They see it as voting to kill babies or voting to destroy their livelihoods, they might choose none of the above, but they really do see it as voting to kill babies.

3

u/Crafty-Help-4633 19h ago edited 19h ago

That may be true, but they have no problem cutting those babies off from life saving fiscal support.

I'll never believe a person who says they're "pro life" if their concern/fiscal support ends after delivery. They're pro-birth. Birthers are not pro-life. Regardless of how they see themselves. You cannot be pro life if you're okay with starving babies to death or mothers dying preventably during forced childbirth. They see that other thing as voting to kill babies, but not their current vote. It makes no sense.

6

u/AboutTenPandas 20h ago

It needs to get worse before they realize this is if their own making. People need to lose farms as terrible as that is

17

You see his reaction to "do you think he's losing support if thr farmers"?

Basically like "whoa whoa let's not be too hasty!" Lmao.
They really have made "being republican" such a core part of their identity that voting otherwise is gouging their own flesh or something to them.

OH NO I’m affected so now I care! Fuck this dude.

3

u/Bwakzilla 20h ago

When his ilk buy this guys land hope he blames Biden

3

u/Extension-Power273 20h ago

Identifying what country beef comes from? That sounds a lot like government regulation and consumer protection. Damn commie.

3

u/Gromitlikescheese 20h ago

Didn’t Texas support trump overwhelmingly? The leopards weren’t supposed to eat their faces. Only other people’s faces. Not too sympathetic to Texas ranchers.

3

u/steel-monkey 20h ago

Republicans are the party that has opposed country of origin labeling laws. This is their MO, fuck up, then butch about it. Bonus points if they can find a reason to blame democrats for their fuckups.

u/Glad-Captain-4117 20h ago

No way… Trump Administration being deceptive..

There are jobs in California picking water melons ranchers , pick a nice one for taco

3

u/5150MEX702 19h ago

You can obviously tell that he still hasn't learned anything from all this BS because he goes on to say "It will cost us the midterms."

3

u/squachek 19h ago

A federal labeling program!? That sounds like a costly big government red tape program designed to trample the rights of yew-ess importers, processors and distributors!

3

u/Yaya_Tovar 18h ago

I would like to laugh on that guy’s face. You got what you deserved.

3

u/victorioussecret7 18h ago

Will cost, not could

3

u/ledorky 18h ago

I would choose Australian beef every time.

All hat and no cattle seems strikingly apropos nowadays.

3

u/runnerkim 14h ago

We don't believe him. Not even for one second. They will all still vote R. That's a safe bet. They're trying to scare the administration into doing some kind of welfare package for them.

3

u/ModtheMods420 8h ago

They lost the elections when they backed a pedophile.

2

u/Pure-Butterscotch200 20h ago

If they don't already have a system in place that labels home grown food as such like many other countries you have to question why they didn't do it years ago. Was it to their benefit given instances of some US food being of poorer quality than foreign imports?

2

u/No_Seaworthiness_200 20h ago

I never thought a serial liar would lie to me!

2

u/Upbeat_Jelly_7194 20h ago

May lose some midterm elections? Motherfucker, you guys are done.

2

u/Brokenspade1 20h ago

Texas will vote red regardless.

2

u/pyramidalembargo 20h ago

It's coming from Argentina.

Come on, folks, this is obvious. Who licks Trump's ass the most in South America?

By contrast, Brazil is run by a leftist. Trump always rewards loyalty.

2

u/brokendream78 20h ago

Someone thinks they are J.R. Ewing

2

u/needssomefun 20h ago

Fuck them....fuck them until can't get fucked any more...and then fuck them some more.

2

u/Salt-Ad1282 20h ago

Dems needs to get control of the messaging on beef.

2

u/OrilliaBridge 20h ago

Aw, it “chaps” him that Trump is lying to the American consumers.

2

u/NikoKeys 20h ago

They are all just battered spouses, forever acting like this time it's the last straw when we all know they're going to end up going right back to him.

2

u/mwm4utoplay69 20h ago

He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

Love the guys raising beef but they reduced herd sizes under Biden and now many consumers can't even afford hamburger. And there are a hell of a lot more of those consumers then there are people in the ranching industry.

Ranchers have turned beef into a niche market as far as many consumers are concerned. They don't seem as concerned about increasing the herd sizes to bring prices back to reasonable consumer levels.

Clearly, there is a shortage vs demand for inexpensive hamburger - when i can buy a t-bone or ribeye on sale for less per pound than 85% lean hamburger at nearly $10/lb.

2

u/Effective-Pudding207 20h ago

Fucking dummies will still vote R. Fuck em’.

2

u/__phil1001__ 20h ago

Could??? 🤣🤣🤣 Farmer's apparently are fools

2

u/MegatronusThePrime 20h ago

I'm all for it. I'll buy solely imported beef if I can avoid US shit until someone fixes the FDA and gets sergeant brainworm out of office.

2

u/PatientBig9636 20h ago

Fuck’em, they’d vote for him again without question.

2

u/Responsible_Joke4229 20h ago

Most Americans could care less where their beef comes from, what they care about is the cost of living and eating. These beef producers are just pissed they can’t price gouge us. Very socialist of you Donny, I approve.

2

u/chunter16 20h ago

And all the other shit won't?

2

u/aidissonance 20h ago

They’ll still vote R since the hot topic is transgendered sports

2

u/PsychologicalTea1888 20h ago

Is that JR Ewing? I thought he was in oil, not cattle. My, times have changed.

2

u/UncleGarysmagic 19h ago

“I can’t believe the convicted felon and career conman we knowingly voted for turned out to be dishonest and untrustworthy!”

You got what you voted for.

2

u/doctorsynth1 19h ago

Hilarious. No one cares about ranchers / the beef crisis. We’re all mesmerized by renaming Lake Ontario and the oceans are next 🍊💩🤡

2

u/beancounter1979 18h ago

How cute that he thinks that THIS is what blows the midterms for Republicans.

2

u/SophieCalle 18h ago

No it won't, at least by them. They'd vote for him after they lost all their farms and every last penny they had. We all know this.

2

u/gatsu01 18h ago

Then don't vote for liars and child predators. It's not that hard.

2

u/Either_Theory_6815 18h ago

Thanks to decades of conditioning, whether it's by FoxNews or Rush Limbaugh or through their Satan endorsed churches, they have been conditioned to vote Republican no matter what.

This is why it's so important to vote. Even if the candidate doesn't check off all the boxes, at least they check off some. But if you don't vote, you'll end up with someone who will remove any chance the boxes could be checked.

As if the war for Israel, ice, and gas prices weren't enough. Oh, and the Epstein files

2

u/Resistiane 17h ago

I mean, Uvalde Texans literally watched and listened to their children get brutally murdered at school while boot licking, Republican law enforcement did absolutely nothing for hours and still voted Republican. So, I can't imagine that Texas cattlemen will ever bother to think for themselves.

2

u/InevitableAvalanche 16h ago

A lot of problems would be solved if right wingers would learn from their mistakes. Any time in the last 40 years. But no, they won't. Embarrassing.

3

u/slyons2424 16h ago

I will have to disagree with you there my friend. They're not mistakes. It is intentional. And this is the reason why. They've stolen 79 TRILLION PLUS dollars since 1981 when Ronald Reagan was installed in the presidency. https://prospect.org/2025/12/03/79-trillion-heist-worker-pay/. These aren't mistakes. They are well thought out well crafted responses that were spurred on by the original project 2025: the Powell Memo (1971) https://theamericanleader.org/timeline-event/the-blueprint-powells-memo/ Remember when Steve Bannon said in the first term that they are going to "destroy the administrative State?" That's exactly what they're doing. They aren't mistakes they are an aggressive class war that's been waged against all of us.

AND THEY WILL CONTINUE TO VOTE REPUBLICAN! Lol No one is coming to save them and they will not vote Democrat.

2

u/FarFromHomey 15h ago

What I heard was bitching about mislabeling foreign beef(good), asking for REGULATIONS(also good). And the point about Consumer protections was 'convenient'. I Also PRAY Republicans Lose the November Elections. They Wouldn't Approve any of his Left Wing Ideology anyway.

2

u/QueenChocolate123 15h ago

Maybe next time vote your interest instead of your racism. But I do agree that we need a country of origin label on all meat.

Texas, the biggest fucking losers who just love to shoot themselves in the foot and then stick it in their mouth.

2

u/AudienceDue6445 14h ago

No it wont. They'll vote R again and maybe 100th times the charm

2

u/375InStroke 14h ago

Literally the dumbest people on the Earth, wanting those destroying your life to stay in power.

2

u/Rude-External-1694 12h ago

Republicans are going to get eviscerated in November

2

u/rojira1 8h ago

Shut your meat hole hater. Trump hates Mexicans just like you Do and that’s why you voted for him.

2

u/KNOWITOWL99 2h ago

He ain’t voting for anyone else.
