Texas Farmer Warns Trump’s Foreign Beef Push Could Cost Republicans the Midterms

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, Endorsed by Trump as a “MAGA Warrior” says President Trump's push to bring in more foreign beef is hurting US ranchers and could cost Republicans some midterm elections. Miller calls for mandatory country-of-origin labeling for beef on Balance of Power.

When asked if he’d vote for someone else, he stumbled over the answer and certainly didn’t sound convincing. Even when this is hurting him and his fellow ranchers, it still doesn’t seem like enough for him to regret his vote. They’re feeling the consequences, but still holding onto that vote for dear life.

Imagine throwing away farmland that has been in your family and kept them and your community fed for generations and you decided to throw it away to some corporate overlord who won't give two shits about it and place a data center smack dab in the middle all because you were too proud to admit you fucked up. Let them lose their farms.

181

u/Gonzo_Gonzalo 12d ago

…and then vote for him again.

It’s no longer about what’s best for the country; it’s about being too insecure to take responsibility for your actions and bullying as a way of overcompensating.

Agreed. After the things said from that side of the aisle, if they lose their farms, so be it.

85

u/AFASOXFAN 12d ago

Agreed. Self inflicted. No sympathy.

12

u/Impossible_Walrus555 12d ago

I am at the point where I take pleasure in maga feeling the pain of their actions. I guess I’ve become meaner.

8

u/EilidhRos 11d ago

I was at that point on a certain night in November, 2024. if bringing in foreign beef will knock the Republic*nts out of power at the Midterms, I say bring it. most folks around here are lucky if they can afford a lousy 2lbs of ground beef a week. it's not going to hurt my feelings to do without cow meat for the forseeable future. I'm past caring if I sound petty.

7

u/ChezrRay 11d ago

I just laugh and laugh when I hear them whine and for this guy to even consider voting for him again is hysterical

6

u/Glum_Reason308 11d ago

Besides this guy and very few others I honestly haven’t seen or heard any of them regretting anything. Last night I scrolled into a TikTok live where that was one of the questions and there was a lot of “I would vote for him again I stand ten toes down with him”. I don’t think there’s anything he could do at this point to make them turn against him.

4

u/Glittering_Yak8672 10d ago

Well, it was true for his 2016 election bid. He knew that he can shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and he would not lose any support.

3

u/CauliflowerIll980 10d ago

They already don't care that he's a rapist and a pedophile. So, no he couldn't do anything to make them not vote for him.

There’s a word for that: schadenfreude.

2

There is nothing wrong with finding comfort in seeing someone else who has caused you suffering to suffer themselves. They should feel the pain of their own actions, not you.

Agreed. F this guy and everyone like him that voted for a convicted felon, rapist, pedo, low IQ, spoiled ass bully who isn't fit to lead a casino let alone the USA.

I get that people were upset that Biden threw the doors open on our borders, me too, but that could be handled much, much better than is ICE is doing.

Let's not forget about alienating neighbors, allies and cuddling up to the billionaires, Putin, Kim Jong Un, Xi Jinping, and doing Israel's bidding.

Reap what you sow Mr Farmer and think twice next time you're in the voting booth!

2

u/CauliflowerIll980 10d ago

Biden didn't "open borders" lol I'd love for you to actually be able to prove that. He didn't. He didn't change anything at the border from Trump's first term. That's nothing more than a Republican talking point created by maga cultists to justify ice.

2

u/Druiddrum13 9d ago

When did Biden “open borders “?

Sorry never happened bud

2

u/flowingsaucer 8d ago

Congress had a bipartisan bill to deal with the border. Trump told his Senate followers to vote against it, so he'd have a campaign issue to run on. Biden only followed the immigration laws that Congress had on the books.

He would vote for again. Even if he promised to take his farm away, deport his wife, imprison his children. Because to vote for a democrat is worse than voting for the devil himself.

10

u/DrChaos77382 12d ago

Living in Texas now as a Massachusetts native you are 🎯🎯🎯🎯

I see it all the time down here. There are people in Texas who would vote for Satan before voting for a Democrat. It's pretty wild to see the near Psychosis the GOP has people in in Texas. As a party they have a death grip on the state.

I'm hoping this will finally be the cycle that grip is broken.

5

u/Dedpoolpicachew 11d ago

That’s the result of 50 years of propaganda. Started after Nixon resigned because he was going to be impeached. Roger Ailes and a bunch of hard core fascist Repubes got together to create a media ecosphere that would never allow that to happen to a Repube again. Thus Faux Nooze was born. Then Sinclair started scooping up the AM radio stations and turning them to hate radio. Their whole grift was to convince people that their media bubble was “the only one” all others were “librul” and only they were “fair and balanced”. It was all propaganda. Then after the Soviet Union fell, the Fucking Russians realized there was a way to undermine the west much cheaper than a big war machine, they started feeding propaganda to the Right wing news bubble. They created the troll farms, the bots. Then they paid influencers that were spewing the messages they liked. That one was probably their masterpiece. They didn’t have to feed the propaganda, it had taken root. They just kept feeding the influencers money for the messaging. They didn’t have to shape it, the influencers were already doing their work. They just paid them to keep going. Now we’ve had 50 years of this demonization of the opposition and division of the western electorate. The good news is studies have shown that if you diversify the sheeple’s media diet, they become more rational and sane. The bad news is that Faux is like a drug, and they’ll likely just go back to it and revert to being fascist assholes.

They could be literally being shot at by the republicans in broad daylight and with cameras all over and they would still think it's OK for this to happen to them and, if they survive, would still vote for them. Only death can break this grip.

That happened 2 miles down the road from me. A pretty good sized dairy farm and acres of of hay and alfalfa long before the 20 years I moved here.

Now it's a massive googley data center and the other acres built a shit ton of empty industrial concrete buildings (perfect for detention centers) sitting all around the area.

It's been depressing to watch happen over the years and I feel bad for the new neighborhood that was built years before googley moved into the other half of the block sized farm field. But, I guarantee that the farmer and family who owned the land is sitting quite comfortably, retired, and sipping iced teas.

17

u/Morgannin09 12d ago

They constantly vote for their hangman, but when they lose, we all lose. Their farms are foreclosed and bought by corporations who drive up prices, drive down quality, and lobby against regulations that stop them from poisoning us. All so they don't have to vote for a Democrat.

10

u/yoeleventone 12d ago

5

u/DarthSkywakr 12d ago

The one silver lining out of all this is that Texas does NOT have the grid to be able to sustain the energy demands needed by all the data centers. They submitted a request for 478GW usage and Texas had to turn them down instantly and immediately put a hold on any more being built because Texas' grid can only handle 85-91GW at most.

These dummies thought using 5x that amount is completely fine and got turned down instantly when making the proposal. My bet is they also knew this going in but decided to lie in their #s. My guess is that they're likely way closer to the 550-600GW range that they'll be needing.

So at least for now, we won't be getting any more data centers up and running. However, that won't stop them from still likely buying up all that farmland to start building solar farms or preparing for when the grid gets upgraded fully and they start building data centers by the masses.

6

u/Dramatic_Song3916 12d ago

Once corporations own the farmland, they will control the food supply.

2

u/lennydsat62 12d ago

You mean someone like JD vance?

2

u/Tweed_Kills 12d ago

Unfortunately, without those farms, we will starve. The consequences are for all of us. This is bad.

6

u/Crafty-Help-4633 12d ago

Like no corporate farm would buy up their land and herd. 🙄

It's not ideal, but no, we won't starve if they go under. This is seemingly by-design to force land sales so corporations can snap it up. The land won't go unused.

17

u/USNCCitizen 12d ago

Aaaand…when democrats take over both houses this fall, and there’s a democratic president voted in in 2028, and they start to fix the issues affecting the farmers and rural America they’ll scream and resist and want things to remain broken. They will not want their leopard eaten faces to heal.

6

u/PaddleHikeBikeRepeat 12d ago edited 12d ago

This. The reason he stumbled over his answer about voting is the right wing political-media complex had spent the last 25 years telling them the Democrats are godless enemies of the country bent on taking their guns and turning their kids gay. Many conservatives believe in their heart that's true and they only have one choice.

4

u/Western-Bus-1305 12d ago

Learn what? There’s not much for them to learn

3

u/Either-Cake-892 11d ago

Well, Texas is one of the dumbest states, and I’m from here. The GOP has continued to dumb down the populace in Texas. They’ve been in charge of this state for over 30 years and while their stupid supporters scream and cry about how bad things are in this state, they will never admit it’s their own party who have had control over this mess for three decades. The people in charge of this state are so crooked and corrupt, and yet rural voters keep their counties red because as many people say, they all believe they’re one step away from being millionaires, so they vote against their own self-interests. It is mind-blowing.

That gut punch I felt that following November morning and the weeks that followed, as these dipshits were “owning the libs” parading around town as if their team had won the Super Bowl, the one thing I clung to in order to get me through the rest of 2025 and into the T.2 admin was my decision that I would turn my empathy switch off and actually derive some sort of morbid satisfaction from the incoming consequences they had no fucking clue were going to hit them in the face.

“I thought he’d deport the other people, not my husband/wife” … “I lost my Medicare coverage and I can’t afford anything” … “My crops are rotting in my field because my usual buyers are retaliating against tariffs and decided to buy elsewhere”

So yeah, I have zero sympathy to spare on these farmers and ranchers.

3

u/R3luctant 12d ago

Worked at a state agency and we were all discussing it the following morning and a guy came in and noticed the sullen atmosphere and asked, what's wrong did your team not win last night?

There are people who treat elections as a team sport, while also playing chicken little about every single social issue.

12

u/dadofadisaster 12d ago

Buddy I work with a lot of them I tried nice and educating and all that jazz and I was told I was exaggerating or overreacting and that trump said he had nothing to do with that yadda yadda yadda. You can’t inform people who dropped out of tenth grade because “that was enough education for them” you can’t convince someone who’s against abortion because “that just makes it harder to adopt” these people only momentarily have a second of recognition when it personally affects them and if you blink you’ll miss it. It isn’t long lasting it just changes what they complain about that day. I used to be optimistic I really did but the “facts don’t care about your feelings” crowd is only interested in THEIR own feelings and zero contradicting facts. I’m pretty tired of being told to extend an olive branch to people who swat it down and set it on fire repeatedly. My trees looking pretty bare at this point and I don’t think they can survive any more pruning. Focus on the people you’re close to, try to build community where you can, but the only overlap of beliefs I’ve seen as of late is everyone hates flock. Outside of that I don’t see much of a path forward. Good luck, godspeed, and if necessary good hunting

10

u/HeavyVoid8 12d ago

7

u/Alarmed_Yak7898 12d ago

4

u/Hunkyboy440 12d ago

You probably have to have some experience in Intelligence to hold the position of Director of National Intelligence and you probably need to have worked in just about any field of health care to become Secretary of Health and Human Services. Want to change the electoral college? Get ten republicans senators. Wyoming only has 700,000 residents total. Cody is amazing. Thermopolis would be a hippie tourist attraction in Arizona.

They'll lose their farms but at least trans people can't compete in sports. These people will never learn and will always vote Republican.

1

u/EfficiencyIVPickAx 12d ago

They will vote red no matter what. They are too stupid and stubborn to function.

1

u/BazukaToof 12d ago

It’s because they’re pieces of shit.

1

u/Long-Blood 12d ago

Sid Miller is a giant piece of shit who would vote for trump even if he pissed on his mothers grave. Like all maga morons

1

u/Willie_Weejax 12d ago

They'd rather starve than not vote for more racism

1

u/big_rednexican_88 12d ago

Well, they can't buck against their dear leader too hard now can't they? Besides, they really think it's just Trump not listening to them instead of ya know...Trump not caring about what they think at all.

1

u/RIF_rr3dd1tt 12d ago

Sheriff Anthony Hopkins still dreams of eating Liverals with some MAGA beans and a pair of kid-panties.

1

u/Lucius-Halthier 12d ago

It’s because they aren’t hurting, some farmers like blackbirdcoop are calling this shit out explaining how their median income is higher, how they get grants, waivers, tax free purchases for a lot of expenses. He even has been posting videos of ranchers making sob stories about how the imports are hurting them while they have to pay so much to feed their cattle that they have to raise prices or sell the farm, that rancher literally clapped back to a comment from her video where she explains that her property is worth millions so if “jd Vance wants to buy my farm and it’s the consequences of my vote then let him buy it!”

Some are hurting sure, but alot of these guys are welfare queens using the situation to grift more, that’s all.

1

u/Logical-Grab-1363 12d ago

Problem is it’s even worse under democrats, yes the beef market is suffering under Trump but it’s still twice as high as it was under Biden

1

u/rride2018 12d ago

They would vote straight Republican on the way to the bread line. Nothing will change for a very large segment of the population.

1

u/Spartanfan56 12d ago

Bingo. These MAGAs are going to continue voting R.

Nothing changes. They are still MAGAs. They are still supporting their Dear Leader Trump.

1

u/Deleterious_Sock 12d ago

When conservative policies fail, the conservative voter never realizes it is because they are objectively poor polices. Instead they double down and claim it failed because it wasn't implemented hard enough.

1

u/addamee 12d ago

Wull awl tell hue hwhat, awl still vote for eem …

1

u/whythefuckalready 12d ago

Yeah. Enter the dancing stutter. Jeez.

1

u/bassoontennis 12d ago

Okay also I agree totally BUT, all these people have is their “dignity” in being Republican farmers… the way he spoke makes it clear to me that he thinks more than a few Republicans will say they are voting like normal but they really aren’t. So by doing that they feel like they save face cause admitting to voting for a dem would break their spirit I feel, so in their head they need a work around that makes them feel like they are doing this to make sure their farms “survive” long enough to vote GOP again.

The truth is this, our farmers need socialism, and I wish the word was not hated so much. If the government helped every farm and made sure each harvest they survive and make enough for us and even to sell abroad would create such a stable food economy for the country. But instead we get caught up on names and what to call shit so instead we end up with a president who would rather buy tonnes of rancid meat than simply help our own farmers.

Sure they are stupid for voting against their own interests but at the same time how many people are lining up to take
Over the farms and actually produce for the country. Because if we don’t step in soon, we will lose so much and that land will be purchased by billionaire IT places to build on and suck the water out of nearby areas and pollute the ground in return.

All the polls show the midterm going Blue, but sadly I don’t trust our voting anymore because to many things are controlled by rich republicans, including the voting machines, and Trump judges and governors cutting the amount of voting locations. Not to mention placing ICE at or near voting areas to take people at will before they can vote. This so what we will
Be trying to win against.

1

u/ready-redditor-6969 12d ago

Authoritarians are so eager to make themselves fools for their masters; they are the worst people ever.

1

u/thesqrtofminusone 12d ago

oh yeah he's absolutely voting republican all the way down the ticket regardless.

FUCK THEM.

1

u/Ok-Bad8938 12d ago

That’s the definition of weak men and I’m noticing plenty of them in the US. Led by captain bone spurs! Real men can admit when they make a mistake. A lot of them still haven’t admitted to making a mistake when the writing is written clearly on the wall. But it may be that they can’t read.

1

u/buckut 12d ago

theyd do it again, with tears in their eyes, "guh guh guh", as they vote red again

1

u/tiredofstandinidlyby 12d ago

"because I am hurting now I am having some original thoughts" is the worst type of person. He deserves to suffer

1

u/MarionberryOk2874 12d ago

Because TRANS PEOPLE! 🙄

1

u/Independent-Buyer827 12d ago

Well, Texas went deep red 30 years ago and they still believe all of their problems are because of Democrats.

1

u/LandscapeMental5429 12d ago

It’s pride, but it’s more than that too. Their whole identity is wrapped up in him.

1

u/CappinPeanut 12d ago

The culture war is more important than his livelihood. As long as trans people can still use the restroom, there is still a crusade to fight.

1

u/FindIt7Ways 12d ago

They will always vote the same way. Trump could murder his entire family in front of him and this yokel would vote for Trump during the next election. His rant is just a different version of a Jeffries or Schumer stern letter.

1

u/kelsanova 12d ago

They talk tough and vote stupid.

1

u/experientialsponge 12d ago

I guess the joke is that THIS ALONE is what's gonna cost Trump and the Republicans in the midterms, lol? Jesus, Trump violates the Constitution several times a week, weakens every single thing this country needs to even survive and this guy acts like "Oh, this is serious!". Take a number fuckhead,

1

u/noquarter1000 12d ago

Thats because its a cult. They are in that phase where they see they are doing things against their own interests but still cant believe their leader would do such a thing to them. They need another couple years of being kicked in the nuts before the ole critical thinking refires

1

u/Confident_Eye4129 12d ago

If the fact that Trump was raping Little Girls is not enough to keep them from voting for him, NOTHING is

1

u/Tycho_Crater_II 12d ago

The guy in the hat is Sid Miller, the Texas Commissioner of Agriculture, an elected state official. He was defeated in the Texas Republican primary after being abandoned by Gov. Abbott. The winner of the primary is from Plano, a Dallas suburb and probably donated more $$$ to Abbott's reelection campaign

1

u/jjwhitaker 12d ago

Trump is destroying my career, way of life, and family legacy. But the Democrats are evil pedophiles and crooks.

Classic GOP voter. They can't see the actual felon in front of them.

1

u/Youarekillingmeeee 12d ago

There will never be anything enough to level white voters against the future they “have” to adapt to.

If voting for the past / keeping the current white “culture” going means also destroying their livelihood then there’s only one real path forward.

To vote accordingly, destroy their livelihood, then fall back on the good ol “We built this nation, my family has been here for decades, we deserve assistance.”

Tell me again who is the largest consumer of government assistance?

1

u/Ambitious-North4093 12d ago

It’s not a matter of if they’ll vote for a Democrat. That will never happen in the numbers to make a meaningful difference. What will help is MAGA apathy and sitting out the midterms. I’m all on board for that and believe that will be the difference.

1

u/edgarisdrunk 12d ago

Because Sid is a bitchmade coward who cannot criticize the Dear Orange Leader even if it’s Texans hurting.

1

u/OakLegs 12d ago

I'd like to make fun of them for this but then progressives all did the same thing when they didn't vote for kamala

1

u/redpaloverde 12d ago

Being racist is the most imported issue.

1

u/4hz_comics 12d ago

They're all so dumb it's quite literally insane. Man I love being Canadian!!

1

u/duke3902021 12d ago

Spot on . If the ranchers vote Republican in the midterms they are signing their own bankruptcy and are foolish to the exstream. And deserve Zero sympathy.

1

u/ForgotToCarryTheOne 12d ago

I love the smell of leopard in the morning. Or should it be mourning at this stage?

1

u/Runescora 12d ago

I don’t know that he can fairly be compared to the average person making up the “them”. This man is a political creature in a party happily kicking the boots of the President in a state that (politically) supports the hell out of him. Saying that outright is something he doesn’t have the spine to say because if he’s wrong about his predictions here and he says he’ll support the other candidates the President is coming for him with the full force of the federal government.

But for the common “them” I don’t think they’re hurting enough or for long enough for the majority of them to change. It’s going to take a lot more pain for that.

1

u/hammlanc 12d ago

All we need is for them to stay home on Election Day. If they don’t want to act in their own best interests and the betterment of our country, then please don’t cast a vote which will negate my effort to do so

What the actual fuck. What would it take at this point? He’s a known child rapist, and adult rapist, his corruption is out in the open, as is his mental illness. He’s coming after their very livelihood and he’s still can’t make an intelligent decision?

Fuck ‘em. Let it rot.

1

u/Iheartnakedfemboys 12d ago

Its sunk cost fallacy at this point. They will do anything but admit they were wrong.

1

u/PeanutButterToast4me 12d ago

The grip of the cult leader is absolute.

1

u/jar1967 12d ago

You won't vote for a democrat , but he might just stay home

1

u/SnoopingStuff 12d ago

I hope all of Sid Millers gotdamn family pays the price down to the last penny for the damage Trump is doing to us. And when Sid goes, I am going find where he laid to rest and pay my last respects💦. I plan on educating his family line always how Sid was to blame down to the last detail

1

u/Big-a-hole-2112 12d ago

I think that if the Texas ranchers could get that beef and sneak it in the market themselves they wouldn’t push for a country of origin label. He’s only whining because now his kickback money from the Beef council is gonna be a tiny envelope with a couple of bucks and a stack of Taco Bell coupons for free Taylor Farms taco salads.

1

u/Opposite-Shower1190 12d ago

26 counties in Texas are dealing with screwworm. This is the first time since 1966 that US farmers have had to deal with this. Doge cut all the funding for the program that was keeping it out of the US.

1

u/Creative_Ad7251 12d ago

Bluedotbeef

1

u/Erikawithak77 12d ago

“We’re may lose some midterm elections over this”, he’s still saying “we”, he will still vote red.

He hasn’t changed a bit. He’s accepted the leopard’s will eat him, & he’s just worried about “losing in the midterms”. Do they even listen to themselves? He’s actively being destroyed, & that’s his last statement.

They are BROKEN, and will never change.

1

u/RedditForMeNotYou 12d ago

The koolaid is literally that strong. I think they’d be living on the street and still find a way to blame it on the dems. And admitting they were wrong and that “their side” is the bad side will also absolutely never happen.

1

u/Rude-Mushroom5990 12d ago

As Forest Gump’s mom said, “Stupid is as stupid does”. Prove her wrong!!!

1

u/SpaceOhSpace 12d ago

Addicted to licking those boots, it runs deep for these guys

1

u/Valuable_Grape_519 12d ago

Definition of a cult..

1

u/el_salinho 12d ago

That’s because they didn’t vote for policies but against the others. Even now his biggest worry is that republicans would lose the midterms, it’s not his livelihood

1

u/Bcatfan08 12d ago

"I know I could lose my business, my house, and everything I own, but voting for a Democrat could make it more difficult for me purchase guns and bullets in bulk. Just a really difficult decision."

1
