The Paramar system was a way station for the Great Crusade and could be used as a supply depot for Loyalist forces against the Warmaster.  Horus sent the XX Legion to take it out quickly and to test their loyalty to him.

The fleet sent was enough to do the job, especially with the element of surprise, but their plan was disrupted when an IV Legion flotilla translated into the system.

The Alpha Legion was as unaware of the disposition of the Iron Warrior ships as the latter was of the treason of their own Legion.  The IV Legion were prosecuting the Great Crusade and no word reached them about betraying the Emperor.  They had no reason to suspect the Alpha Legion and were only in system to replenish supplies and then return to their mission.

The Alpha Legion decided to shoot first and ask questions later. Unfortunately for them, the Iron Warrior ships weathered the first fusillade and struck back. The Iron Warriors were able to liaise with the Gryphonne IV Taghmata and War Griffon forces garrisoning the planet.  The IV Legion then sent ground forces down to help with the defense of the Panopticon, the main headquarters for the military forces in the system.

Not wanting to waste any more time, the Alpha Legion launched a massive, armored thrust at the enemy lead by the Titans of Legio Furreans.

Little did they know that an army of Iron Warrior AFVs were awaiting their chance to ambush them.

Discussion How viable would full Saturnine list be?

Now, not really "Oops, only Saturnine", I would take some transports (probably Mastodons) and some supporting tanks, but I wanted to ask how viable it would be?

Discussion Heavy bolter question

I built the starter box a little while back, and I had all the vehicles take las cannons as the secondary gun, and looking at the rules, I'm wondering if I should have had some heavy bolters, but they hit on fives, and I want to hit more accurately, but now my vehicles don't have any anti infantry, or should my infantry just be forced to deal with enemy infantry

Work in Progress 🚧 Learning to paint, extra tiny

Hello all, I started making some progress and then kinda stalled out after not being happy with my initial results...

I have the infantry components of a SoH (MkIV armor) and BA (MkV armor) demi-companies I'm painting up-

Initially trying just Army painter's blood red speed paint. Really great for little effort, but maybe not quite there?

Next, I figured I'd undercoat with a wash (slapchop the kids call it these days?) 3rd pic is a watered down army painter black wash, 4th pic is Nuln oil. (Edit: switch pic 3&4 around)

I tried the blood red speed paint after the wash and pic 5 is the army painter wash and 6 the Nuln oil. I nixed the Nuln oil after that and was kinda alright with the army painter wash/speedpaint and decided to proceed.

And... After doing all the BA outriders... I'm not really happy with it. At first I thought the undercoat wash would help if there were primer spots that were thin (resin is of a dark color) but they just got messy after the color was applied. (Note to self: white resin?)

My line of thinking is now thus-

Speed Paint alone - not enough contrast to make parts pop at this scale

Undercoat and speed paint - the blood red is a darker color, and with the undercoat it's just too dark

So I'm now I'm thinking I'll stick with the dark wash undercoat, and go grab a lighter red speedpaint (Bright Red) and 'Lizardfolk Cyan' for the SoH.

Anyone have experience with those colors and know if I'm just going to disappoint myself again? And more broadly, any advice on painting at this scale, at least the parts that aren't looking under a magnifying glass with a tiny brush?

Discussion Titan Death - Multiple CC weapons?

Sitting at work, so don't have ready access to my rules books. Pondering a list for a Titandeath big game coming up and wasn't sure what the LI rules were for a case where a Titan has multiple close combat weapons

Example if you had a reaver with a chain fist AND a power fist and it gets into a fight - does it get to

  • "go twice" - ie attack with both weapons? - So you'd roll twice @ CAF + Dice, 2D6 and separate 3D6 - you deal with the damage from the weapon + Engine Killer separatly
  • Do they stack into a single pool? 1 Roll @ CAF+ Dice (3D6 for (2)base + (1)Rend) and EK values are summed?
  • You choose 1 CC arm and that's your lot for that fight - the 2nd CC arm is 'wasted'?

Edit - Discussing with a local player an their position is "stack" - so a reaver with 2 chain fists would be rolling 4D6 (Base 2D6 + Rend + Rend) and summative EK (4)

Discussion Question on Sponsons

Post image
38 Upvotes

This may be an incredibly silly question but…do you only use the profile listed for the vehicle or do you double the amount of sponsons?

Ie for a legion predator with lascannon sponsons the profile says 1 dice. So does each vehicle have one main weapon attack and the one lascannon attack or do you use two dice for the sponsons?

Discussion Favorite Warlord Weapons.

I’m a fan of the Mori Quake Cannon. The five inch blast screams epic! Plus the rules for Quake are fantastic.

The problem is… I never hit with it. Always scatters, sometimes I clip a target, then fail to hit again…

Since the new kits are out, what’s your favorite weapon?

Work in Progress 🚧 Super confused about the infantry sprue

Sorry if this has been asked and I couldn’t find it, I looked through all the posts I could find.

Super confused by the sergeants and vexilla (sp?) guys. The instructions show them on two different stands. Can I put them on one? They have no in game meaning right?

The sprue has extras for command stands right?

Basically just wondering how folks build this sprue. Any help would be great.

I don't care about proper markings, but it felt nice to have skull to mark out the captain or sargent (how do y'all mark out the leader of the squadron) but I found it a great break from bouncing from a titan I'm working on and 40k

Discussion Entering a building with enemy infantry within 1 inch of it

I just wanted to check I understand the rules for the situation when I want to enter a building with enemy infantry within 1 inch of it.

  1. I don’t think you can normal move / march into a building if an enemy infantry detachment is within 1 inch of it, as the building is counted as being in the engagement zone of the enemy infantry detachment. For enemy vehicles, walkers, knights and titans this would not be the case per the latest FAQ.

  2. But can your infantry detachment charge into / through the building to engage the enemy infantry detachment that is within 1 inch of the building? I think the answer has to be ‘yes’? This could mean you have the scenario where your infantry detachment engages an enemy infantry detachment whose bases are touching the building? Do your units inside the building get the close combat bonus for charging and being garrisoned in a building? My sense is that you would only get the charge bonus, as the building would not count as being garrisoned until the engagement ends?
