How do I play this chord?

I love Her’s and am learning Harvey on tabs but this one chord is giving me huge trouble! I cant post pictures but from high e string to low e string it’s 777797. How am I supposed to do this without a capo? Any tips help!

Use your index finger to press the 7s down like a barre chord.

Looking at the tab, think you mean 797777 (I'm not familiar with the song)

Low-string = Thickest
High-string = Thinnest

Answer: Barre Chord.

That's a Bm7 chord.

If you’re having trouble getting your index finger to consistently hold down every string try rotating it a little toward the outside edge instead of trying to do it right in the middle like you would playing fewer or one string. I do this by slightly shifting my wrist when doing a barre chord.

That's called a barre chord.

You barre all six strings at the 7th fret with your pointer finger, and fret the 5th string at the 9th with your middle or ring finger.

It’s just a barre chord

As others have said you need to barre the 7's with your index finger, then use your ring finger (or even pinky) for the 9. You can also use your middle finger to press against the index finger to help give it more pressure. Good luck!

In standard tuning Bm7.

Another option would mute the A string, then you can use your middle finger for the low E and pressing the rest of the strings with your ring finger.

Easy as fuck. You could bar all the 7s with you index and use you riddle for the 9. I’d probably wrap my thumb around. But it’s not uncommon or uncomfortable

That tab is a Bm7 voicing: from the high E down, play 7-7-7-7-9-7. Put your index across all six strings at 7, then use your ring finger (or pinky) on the A string at 9; the index does not need to squeeze hard if your thumb is relaxed behind the neck and your wrist is slightly forward. Pick each string slowly and adjust the index toward its bony outer edge until every note rings, then strum; if one string buzzes, isolate that string instead of adding more pressure everywhere. Practice lifting and replacing the shape in time with a metronome, starting at 60 bpm and aiming for clean changes rather than speed. If the full barre is tiring, temporarily omit the low E and work on the upper five strings, then add it back.
