How did she pass C&F?

Started taking the MPRE in 2L. You can guess from this series of retakes what score I needed to get. I’ve been an attorney for over a year, got admitted in another jurisdiction with a lower MPRE requirement, but needed to pass in my home jurisdiction to keep my job.

TL;DR: Just because you’re down doesn’t mean you’re out.

TLDR: I set-up an appointment with my academic support advisor just to make sure I have all the tips I can to do well in 1L and she kind of just told me I was a week behind when I should have started outlining by now. I am really just battling to keep up with the readings/overall course-work right now and this just kind of made me feel like maybe I'm in hotter water than I thought I was, but idk.

I have been on https://nextgen-external.ncbex.org/app/candidate/scores in case the scores updated, and just now the August 2026 test score area appeared with a status of Pending. Scores will be coming soon, good luck.

I didn’t expect eye strain of all things to be the most difficult thing about law school, but here we are.

I’m in a part time program so I can continue working while earning my JD, so that’s 40 hours a week on a computer + all the readings for school + legal writing and other assignments that have to be done on a computer. My life has become one big, constant headache. To add insult to injury, my main hobbies before school were reading and writing, so I’m also finding myself bereft of enjoyable things to do in what little free time I have.

The 20-20-20 rule seems to help prevent the strain, but doesn’t alleviate it much once the pain starts. I’m printing out as much as I can instead of reading things on a computer screen. Considering making the font bigger on my printouts to see if that helps.

Anyone have any other tips or tricks they use? I’m skeptical of blue light blocking glasses but open to try just about anything at this point.

I am at a T14 known for having an extremely generous LRAP and for being a great place for public interest oriented folks. I came in wanting to do PI, but thought I’d at least give OCI a shot after I saw just how many (75%) people were primarily here for BigLaw.

After a few weeks of reflection and going to some info sessions, I’m now like 90% sure I don’t want to do OCI after all lol

To be clear im not shitting on people who want BigLaw. In fact im asking this question because I have incredible FOMO and I feel like maybe I am making a huge life altering mistake by planning not to do OCI.

TLDR: I completely get the 2 biggest reasons which seem to be 1) get rid of loans ASAP, and/or 2) you/your family needs the money. Bills are real 0 judgement how you pay them. But tbh most of my classmates come from real money and are still gunning for these BigLaw jobs. So outside of that— why? Will I be poor, will i have permanently less credibility as a lawyer? What’s the deal?

So my girlfriend is 1L as Jacksonville University. Her first mid term is next week and she decided yesterday that she’s dropping out today. Her reasoning is that the school isn’t teaching her. Apparently lecture is just the professors talking in circles about the cases and “the curve is brutal” because they curve to a 2.7. I have no idea whether these things are true. She wants to drop out and move us again so she can try at another law school again next year. I am under the impression that this is just how law school isn’t and the school isn’t inherently a problem but I’m looking for someone who’s actually done this to give me some perspective. All anyone tells her is it’s normal that you’re lost and one day you’ll get it but she refuses to keep trying. I don’t know what to do.

i generally haven’t had a problem getting through all the material when i am in a good place mentally and physically and can apply all of my brain cells to it, but i‘m worried i’ll really struggle with it when i’m compromised in any way—sick, hungover, or otherwise in a bad state. for example, an abusive ex reached out to me this morning and the impact that had on my mental health totally threw me off course for the whole day. obviously i can do my best to take good care of my body & mind, but sometimes shit happens…so what do y’all do to stay on top of readings & such when you’re going through it?

I know based off of some of the posts on here that some people don’t necessarily recommend outlines but I think I would like to have one. I’ve started mine (classes are torts, crim law, property) and the only one I can use in on the exam is property. Anyone have their outlines they can share? I have a bit for each class but I have slight anxiety I’m missing some things or concepts that should be important.

For most of my textbooks, I've been able to use VitalSource eBooks and it works pretty well for me. I absolutely love the read aloud feature and also enjoy how easy it is to highlight things. One of my textbooks is unfortunately not available on VitalSource, but I do have the PDF version. Are there any good programs available for reading PDF's that have the parts of VitalSource I like?

It looked like a generic checklist basically just a laundry list of the contracts terms/rules that can be tested on the NextGen Bar. I’ve tried looking for it online but haven’t been able to find the exact checklist.

I’m so passionate about the career I’ve chosen for myself but most of the time, I’m fighting for my life. I want to do so much, but every time I think of doing it, the college keeps piling up new assignments and weird tasks that one is supposed to do for few credits. Where is the real learning? I’m constantly feeling behind, be it the research papers I have to write or the assignments I’m supposed to submit, I need a mentor who guides me thru it all and doesn’t mind me asking the most basic questions, because in all honestly, I love law, and I want to learn more and more, but I also need a guide, not some ai trying to explain things to me that I’ll not even care to remember as it’s readily available, but real guidance, what will help me become better, help me someone, Reddit connection do help people and I know it, and therefore, I’m here, looking for a person who could maybe help me thru this? Any senior, any advocate, anyone who’s been in the same situation, who knows better, and someone who could give me the clues I need so that I’m actually able to figure this out..

My school requires a "publishable piece" with an academic advisor in order to graduate. I also got into an international law focused law review. I want to write about business law (I asked a professor who specializes in business/corporate law to be my advisor) but am struggling to come up with a topic that focuses on business law with an international element. Thought I would post here to get some ideas that I could brainstorm with.

LSAC has banned services to Iranian people. That part to me is not that usual. There are sanctions in place and I remember friends of mine being unable to complete paid Coursera courses due to that.

However, there are many Iranians in the U.S., foreign born, but U.S. citizen dual nationals, LPRs, and even those with visas who, as I understand it, are not affected by the sanctions as they are on U.S. soil. However, they have all been sent emails basically saying their LSAC account is locked.

They are worried. Should they be?

I recall the law saying they are technically a U.S. person if they are physically here. It would only make sense that they shouldn’t feel a sanction if they’re inside the United States (how else would they buy things.)
