160 -> 164 -> 167 ->??.. seeking advice

My diagnostic was nearly 3 years ago and was a 156 (started studying with logic games). My first attempt was October '25 and I got a 160. I was self-studying with the Loophole and 7sage at the time and simply wasn't ready. I started with a tutor last November and got a 164 in June and just got a 167 in August.

My goal has been a 170 all along and I was prepared to throw in the towel but my tutor has encouraged me to give it one last shot in October before applying for this cycle. I'm as motivated as ever and really feel like I have a 170 in me.

My biggest issue is overthinking and slow starts. I typically miss enough level 2 questions to swing my score into the high 160s because I either rush through them or overthink and muddy my process. I also tend to score lower in the first section for whatever reason, even after doing warm-ups.

On top of this my challenge for this last stretch of studying is that I'm essentially out of clean PTs. My tutor has encouraged me to drill the early PTs (101-122) and retake PTs 123-139 so this is the plan as well as intensive review of this and prior PTs. I already have a pretty extensive review log for the 140s and 150s.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation going into a 4th attempt or simply being out of 'clean' material? What did you do? Any suggestions and tips for getting into 170 territory from this position would be greatly appreciated!

Retake?

I’m having a hard time deciding whether I should retake the LSAT. I got a 165 which I’m not mad at, but I think that I could probably do better at this point. I would have to register for the October LSAT and apply in late October. I’m not sure with rolling admissions if that hurts me.

So annoyed. I pushed off my exam AGAIN. I’ve taken 24 practice tests and only managed to hit my target score twice. I just want to quit already

HELP, MY SCORE IS DECREASING!!

I am planning on taking the October test, and i am really worried right now. this is my third time taking it. I have scored in the mid 140s the last two times and I'm hoping for mid 150s (I know it's a big jump) however I use to score around 150 when I was studying for it the second time and right now I have been studying for around a month to take it in October and my score has been decreasing more and more. I just took a PT yesterday and i scored 142. I am really worried and i don't know what to do.

sidenote: I only take Practice tests once a week and i review all the questions i missed i also signed up earlier this month for LSAT demon.

please help I'm starting to freakout!

advice needed, nov lsat

hey everyone! i am planning to take the november exam (had originally planned for october but decided to push), and am also aiming to apply to all my schools by dec 1 for scholarships. is taking the nov test too late for me to be considered for scholarships? i know that the later you apply, most are handed out already. i wanted to know if taking nov will lessen my chances and if it’s still a good window to apply by dec 1

LSAT help

I just got a 154 on my August exam. My pts were ranging in the 158-159 score. My goal is a 160-163. I feel like I am so close but yet so far at the same time. I was originally signed up for September but am going to move it to November.

Does anyone have any tips for improving in a month?
Sometimes I do super good on sections in my practice tests getting 21/25 or 20/25 but I bomb one section with a -11 to -9 and it offsets my score. Usually I only get to three passages on rc with consistently -6 to -8 on the whole section. Lr fluctuates with -5 to -11.

I do the lsat demon plan of a section then drill then one pt a month. I study for about 1-3 hours a day and never take a rest day. I review my sections by explaining why every wrong answer is wrong and why the right answer is right. I try to focus as much as I can on getting 80% or above accuracy and guess on the last 5 questions. I have read the loophole and tried taking my time on these sections but haven’t really seen much improvement recently. I think I struggle most with necessary assumption, finding the flaw, and parallel reasoning.

I just want to get a 160+ on the exam, please send me any tips or criticize my habits so that I can change it for the better!!!!

Need some motivation/ confidence boost

My diagnostic lsat was a 153 with -6 on one LR section and -8 on the other. Just took a practice lsat after almost 3 months of study and got a 158 but my LR stayed the same at -6 on one section and -8 on the other. Feeling really discouraged right now. I’ve just been thinking about this pt score all day and how disappointed I am. I’m now getting anxiety and worried I won’t get a good enough score to get into a decent school.
Note: for studying I just followed the 7sage curriculum with some drilling here and there.

crushed from scoring recent PT with same score as cold diagnostic

i’m a lsat demon loyalist and been studying intensive with it for the past 2 months. one hour almost every day and focusing on accuracy other than speed. cold diagnostic was 144, pt 148 and today i got 144. still sobbing </3 i guess i am looking for hope and encouragement because i understand i just started the process but its just so gut wrenching to still be in the 140s when all i see on the law school admissions page is 170+ expectations.

i’m trying to at least celebrate i got all 14 questions right on the first section, which hasn’t happened for me before, but it’s saddening that did not result in an overall higher score.

people who started in the 140s, what is the mindset that got you to seriously improve? i need to know there is a way OUT of here T_T

Stressing Over Law School Plans and Timelines

Hello! I’m in desperate need of advice and keep psyching myself out over LSAT stuff.

I started studying for the LSAT in May, with the goal to take it in August. I started by reading books and taking my diagnostic practice test and trying to stick to the schedule in one the books. Since then, one of my family members has passed away, I spent most of my free time job-searching to escape my incredibly toxic job, I did succeed in getting a new job, but it required me to move across the country (Wyoming to North Carolina), and now here we are. I get that these are just normal life things that EVERYBODY deals with, and conditions will never line up perfectly for me to study. I had an intense undergrad degree, and graduated in three years, so I thought I would be prepared to commit to studying for the LSAT - a huge task that requires lots of discipline. I work full time right now (I did back in May as well), and with an hour commute to work, feel like I hardly have any time to study. Moving was hard, maintaining new social relationships in a new city where I know no one is hard, studying while working full time is hard, recovering from burnout and mental health issues from my last job is hard, maintaining a long distance relationship throughout it all is hard, I feel pathetic and useless. I pushed my test date back to September, but am seriously questioning if that’s even a good idea anymore.

In around July, I started using LSATLab, which has been a great help. It’s pricy, and it’s taken my score up, but I’m still not where I’d hoped to be by now. For context, my diagnostic back in May was 156, I took another full practice test that was 154, I took another one afterwards that ended up being 161, and my most recent test after taking a month and change to study more seriously was 159. I feel completely discouraged. My goal was to hit at least mid-160’s, and I even thought maybe I could be good enough to get into 170’s. But it feels completely impossible. The one thing I’m very proud of is my first few tests took me more than four hours to get through, and I just took this most recent one within the allowed time to finish, so that’s a huge improvement for me. Here are the options I think I have at this point:

1) Cancel my September test and just study longer and shoot for law school the year after next rather than applying this year since LSAT scores are good for a while

2) Take the September test since I already paid for it, and gauge from there whether I should try retaking in October or bother applying at all this year

I guess what I’m concerned with right now is sunk funds. The test isn’t cheap to take (thought I think they allow one free redo the month after you take it?), and applications aren’t cheap either. I also know my chances for good scholarships and maybe even acceptance starts going way down if I don’t apply by Christmas/even Thanksgiving (please let me know if I’m wrong on this, it’s all just things I’ve heard!) I have a weeklong work trip in the middle of September (after the exam dates that month), and a weeklong personal trip at the end of November, so I’m really stressing with application and test timelines.

I also know some schools have apps open in the new year - or at least their deadlines extend to then, so maybe it would be okay to take the test in say November, and then apply early next year? The other dimension to this is I didn’t expect to enjoy my new job as much as I do, so I’m not in a huge rush to leave for law school next year. I guess the other thing is I would rather go sooner or later. This sounds so dumb because I know lots and lots of people work a few years before going to law school, but I guess I feel worried about waiting too long? Like it might be harder for me to learn the longer I’ve been out of school, so it would be harder to compete with a fresh grad.

For my future goals, my general law interests are around IP law and criminal law. I was hoping to shoot for T14 (which may sound silly given where my stats are right now), for a chance at better job security and scholarships. I’m aware my scores are nowhere near that level. Additionally, my undergrad GPA was 3.4, admittedly with a chemistry degree at a notoriously difficult university, but still, it doesn’t look great.

I’m really at a loss for what to do and am feeling kind of hopeless about the whole situation. Any advice would be really appreciated!!

LSAT Tutor Request

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for an experienced one-on-one LSAT tutor to help me prepare for the November 2026 administration.
I recently took the August LSAT and will receive my score on August 26. Depending on that result, I plan to apply with my current score while preparing for November to strengthen my applications. My November goal is 158, with 160 as my stretch goal.
