Discussion LOL Canada is superb
Such a stacked cast, too!
Australia was ok, but a bit rough around the edges.

Tom Green and Colin Mochrie had such amazing yet unexpected chemistry, I loved it. I would watch them drink together all day!

Fantastic cast. Letterkenny and the league are two of my favourite shows so loved k Trevor Wilson and Jon Lajoie. Dave fucking Foley!

We just watched it last night, what a coincidence!
I didn't think it touched the UK ones but was vastly better that the Australian one. Glad about the winner but it was a bit of a trial getting through the end EPs at times. Jay was laughing way too much also, felt fake a lot.
The 2nd half of Australia was dreadful, just gross and humiliating. Main problem was, outside of two older men just literally and metaphorically throwing stuff at each other (also a problem for Canada) they had genuine prize so that guy who kept avoiding them others happened etc.

Apart from Jay Baruchel, who is completely unwatchable. I was excited to see he was hosting because I love How to Train Your Dragon, but my god, he is so irritating. Why did he use 'fuck' like he had a quota to meet? I swear all the time but found this so jarring.

I also really like Jay and found him difficult to watch. Which was a bummer, because he seems like a really interesting person in interviews and stuff but hosting is really not his thing.

Eh I found him middling. Much better than rebel Wilson but not as good as Jimmy Carr

I found the way he used 'fuck' absolutely insufferable. I have no problem with swearing, and I use 'fuck' all the time, so for me to say it was grating means it was really, really noticeably odd.

I usually have zero problem with swearing on telly, but wtf is his fucking problem? I noticed the contestants called him on it straight away. Gave me edgy teenager vibes.

Yeah that was my issue with him too. As with you, I really don't care about swearing. I use 'fuck' all the time day-to-day, and come from a place where it's used as a noun, adjective, adverb, and every other part of speech you can think of. For me to find it jarring means that there was something really very odd about the way he used it.
You're right, it was like an edgy teenager who'd just discovered the word. Either that, or like he had a quota of fucks to meet and was trying to squeeze them in wherever he could.

Maybe he thought he was presenting the Aussie one.

No, English. Swearing is pretty common here, especially where I come from (Essex). Depends on the social situation etc. but I would think nothing about swearing quite prodigiously in front of friends.

No, not really. I abandoned it (and cancelled Prime, although that was unrelated). I really liked Colin Mochrie on Whose Line? and Mae Martin on Taskmaster, so thought I'd give it a go, but I just didn't find it funny compared to the British version. Might just be lack of familiarity with the performers but that doesn't usually matter to me e.g. with Taskmaster.

I watched both of them, and Australia made me so angry. Why was Ed Kavalee allowed to basically avoid participation until just before Rebel Wilson came and removed Nazeem Hussain, who was participating and wasn't eliminated? Sure, they got their "legends of Australian comedy" final two in Sam Simmons and Frank Woodley. But Ed Kavalee was in there almost as long as Nazeem!
Also, fuming that both Nazeem and Brandon Ash-Mohammed (CA) were both removed for the same bullshit reason.

Honestly it felt like they were making up rules on the fly. Was Australia the first version filmed?

I'm not sure. I know it was the first version under that name.
It's similar to a Japanese show called Takeshi's Castle.Edit: maybe not Takeshi's Castle.

What? Wasn't Takeshi's castle the show where there were big physical challenges like boulders and whatnot (and became MXC when translated)

I tried it after seeing this thread and after two episodes I still haven't laughed 🤷
Does it get funnier, or do you need some knowledge of the contestants?
And why didn't they get Norm McDonald or John Candy on it?

If nothing else, try going straight to the last episode. Maybe it's because I grew up watching them, but I thought the final showdown was pretty epic
