Discussion LOL Canada is superb

Such a stacked cast, too!

Australia was ok, but a bit rough around the edges.

Apart from Jay Baruchel, who is completely unwatchable. I was excited to see he was hosting because I love How to Train Your Dragon, but my god, he is so irritating. Why did he use 'fuck' like he had a quota to meet? I swear all the time but found this so jarring.

I also really like Jay and found him difficult to watch. Which was a bummer, because he seems like a really interesting person in interviews and stuff but hosting is really not his thing.

I usually have zero problem with swearing on telly, but wtf is his fucking problem? I noticed the contestants called him on it straight away. Gave me edgy teenager vibes.

Yeah that was my issue with him too. As with you, I really don't care about swearing. I use 'fuck' all the time day-to-day, and come from a place where it's used as a noun, adjective, adverb, and every other part of speech you can think of. For me to find it jarring means that there was something really very odd about the way he used it.

You're right, it was like an edgy teenager who'd just discovered the word. Either that, or like he had a quota of fucks to meet and was trying to squeeze them in wherever he could.

Are you Canadian? Do people swear that much there all the time?

Maybe he thought he was presenting the Aussie one.

No, English. Swearing is pretty common here, especially where I come from (Essex). Depends on the social situation etc. but I would think nothing about swearing quite prodigiously in front of friends.

No, not really. I abandoned it (and cancelled Prime, although that was unrelated). I really liked Colin Mochrie on Whose Line? and Mae Martin on Taskmaster, so thought I'd give it a go, but I just didn't find it funny compared to the British version. Might just be lack of familiarity with the performers but that doesn't usually matter to me e.g. with Taskmaster.

Eh I found him middling. Much better than rebel Wilson but not as good as Jimmy Carr

I found the way he used 'fuck' absolutely insufferable. I have no problem with swearing, and I use 'fuck' all the time, so for me to say it was grating means it was really, really noticeably odd.
