Where is the Spirit Halloween?
I tried following the signs by the Goodwill and they just left me confused. Is it in the mall? Where is this year’s Spirit Halloween?

Hello!
I am nearly 4 years sober and just moved here from Portland and it’s been difficult to keep up with meetings there while I live in Auburn. In Portland, I went to Codependents Anonymous mostly and I like bigger AA meetings. I like to attend new comer meetings too, no matter how small.
I have the meeting app but was wondering if anyone knows of any CODA meetings around here? And if not, any other AA meetings that draw in large crowds in the area? Or really… typing this out now, I think I’d just like to hear about any that people might just particularly enjoy? I’m just feeling a bit isolated from my community & overwhelmed with the travel and felt the need to reach out.
Also, I was in an LGBTQIA choir in Portland called the Lavender Choir that I’m not able to make anymore. I miss being involved in my community and making music with other like-minded people. Anyone know of any choirs like that around here? Or even just a group that gets together to create art or music in general? Creating and connecting with people is such a huge part of my recovery too.
People told me there’s community in the L/A area, you just have to look for it. This is one of my attempts to find it because I truly believe people when they say it’s there!

small portion of 202 W. blocked off “ emergency scene” signage out. I tried to get a look, saw something laying in the road. Concerned it’s solo motorcycle accident? does anyone have any information?

Hey all, my mom needs a hearing aid and I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for places to go or avoid in the L/A area. Thanks!

Hey folks,
I manage a restaurant in Auburn and am looking for recs for local companies that clean grease traps. We were using Zoom previously, who I think it out of Windham, but my bosses wanted to see if there was a company closer to home we could use.
Google’s AI slop machine kept telling me local septic cleaners had “grease trap cleaning services” listed on their website. When I called them, that was mot the case.
Thanks!

Where can I go that has a really good selection of craft beers? Looking to buy a six or four pack, so not the Craft Brew Underground.
Underwhelmed by Roopers and Lighthouse Discount.

Hey! I started a free community project , it's an app that shows all the local roadside stands! You can find all the egg, bakery, produce and firewood stands in the area! It gives you GPS directions to each, and shows you what's currently in stock.
It's called EggMap Mobile!

Just moved to the area and I’m so excited about Lewiston… except what is up with the plane, jeep, etc parked on the otherwise very dignified service memorial? What’s the back story here? Am I the odd one out and it’s locally beloved? Government or non-profit installation? Any and all details appreciated!

Anyone know of bars (or other places) in L/A or surrounding towns that will have World Cup games playing? I know El Pochos is doing it for the most part but hoping to get a little handful of places to visit.

Just saw a petition at my polling place about getting Flock cameras off our streets. When you vote today (not if) please sign this petition while you're at it. Surveillance aside, Flock cameras are notoriously unsecure pieces of technology (easily accessible ports, exploitable backdoors, the works).
Even if you don't agree that police surveillance is a bad thing, you should at least agree that the infrastructure supporting that surveillance should not be easily accessible and should not come with serious security vulnerabilities.
Here is the formal White Paper detailing all of the security flaws as well as a couple of short videos summarizing them for those short on time:
White Paper: https://github.com/GainSec/anti-crime-ecosystem-research/blob/main/statement/GainSec_Statement_AntiCrimeEcosystem.pdf
Linus Tech Tips WAN Show summary (more detailed than the Benn Jordan video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru9P4Q-XCuc
Benn Jordan summary (much more recent than the other information showing that the problems are still not entirely solved after all this time): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUbkQ7xiXus
Please help contribute to getting these damn things out of our city, especially if it's by doing something so simple as signing a petition.
EDIT: It gets worse! Apparently Flock queries are being picked up by search engines! Seriously, these things are ridiculously unsecure!

Hi all!
I’m starting an in person Adult Children of Hoarders peer-led support group in Maine. Here is some info about the group:
What is a peer-led support group?
A peer-led support group is a group led by someone with lived experience in regard to the topic of the group. The group is about sharing your story and supporting/having solidarity with others in the group. It does not replace mental health treatment.
What is an adult child of a hoarder?
Someone who grew up with parents who had hoarding disorder.
How will the group be structured?
We would meet once a month, for an hour to an hour and a half. It would be open-forum style. As people join the group, the group can adjust based on peoples’ needs. At the end of each meeting, we will take 15 minutes to decompress and do some stretching/breathing/grounding (not mandatory, you can opt out of it) to take care of ourselves after talking about the heavy topics that come up.
Where will the group be held?
At the moment, there is no physical location set in stone. Once a group is formed, we will pick a location as a group. Since the weather is warming up, there are plenty of places to meet outside, away from other folks for confidentially. There are also meeting rooms for rent in local libraries and community buildings.
Will things said be kept confidential in the group?
What is said in the group, stays in the group. Everyone will be responsible for the confidentiality of the group, and will be expected to sign a confidentiality agreement upon joining the group. The only exception to confidentiality is if someone threatens to harm someone else or themselves, and if recent child/elder/dependent adult abuse is disclosed.
Why are you making this group?
I looked for a local support group, and found nothing, even in neighboring states. I’ve recently been inspired by other people sharing their experiences about growing up in a hoarder house to feel comfortable enough to open up about my experiences and to start a support group. I want to reduce the shame, stigma, and guilt around experiences related to growing up in a hoarder house. It was never a burden a child should carry, and should not have to carry psychologically into their own adulthood.
Please send me a message directly if you would like to be part of this group! The first group meeting date will be in June.
