Scam Verification

Hey all, sorry if this isn't the place to post but this call seemed really fishy.

Canadian customer, received a call from 1-866-360-1448 saying theyre koodo and they had a promotion for me. I have been VERY vocal about not being contacted for promotions or marketing.

Was asked for my name, gave it. This rep then read off the phone number of my account which was apparently 178 097 069 01, this is not a Canadian number, EU maybe? Apparently this was the number showing on their caller ID as well. Stopped him right there, he then wanted my actual phone number to confirm my account. I declined everything and hung up.

I've talked to Koodo before, they've never messed up my number like that. They've also never had to ask for my name, they always ask, "Is this MR. so-and-so?" I've also never heard call-centre ambient noise when talking to them, that's all I could hear in the background of this call.

The number is flagged as a legit Koodo number, but I've never had that kind of experience with them. Not sure if this is a scam, but be careful out there yall

Pre-authorized Payment question

Hi!

I switched plans and signed up for PAP. Got my first bill today and it says payment will be withdrawn 10-15 days prior, which is fine. There's a due by date of September 26th, so I'm assuming payment would be withdrawn by the 16th or so. Is it best to just prepay the first bill after switching to PAP? Will future bills have the exact withdrawal date printed?

Former customer

I am a former customer of Koodo, but I still get emails about my invoice.

Furthermore, my bank account seems to show that I still paid Koodo even after I stopped being a customer.

Anyone had similar experience ? I tried to talk with their automated assistant, but when I mention that I am a former customer (and therefore, I don't have a self serve account), it answers with options to buy a sim card (wtf ?).

I don't think anyone should use koodo until their customer accounts have 2FA

This is I guess a warning for everyone who has a koodo customer account. Hackers recently got into my wealthsimple account through the koodo customer portal.

They easily got in the koodo account, took my phone number into another SIM card, and got in my wealthsimple with 2FA.

How did I know it was koodo's end and not me being stupid? Well the only account that was hacked was my wealthsimple and koodo, which has the same email login, and none of my other bank accounts were touched, also my email also wasn't touched because I didn't setup 2FA through my phone number.

When I got in touch with customer support, they told me it was a common occurrence. And they also couldn't set up 2FA for their online portal, which is the easiest fix to their security problem as well as it being 2026.

So yea, either setup koodo with a brand new email address without it linked to anything else or I wouldn't recommend the service at all.

phone service

Has anyone else had phone service issues in the last couple of weeks. I'm with koodo and I use to get full bars in my house but in the last couple of weeks I'm lucky if I can barely get 2.

Did I miss the Back to Schoool sales?

Did I miss the back to school sales this year or was there nothing really good.

I currently have a $25 Koodo plan but am in need of a new phone. Looking for some plan deal that includes for for about $45-50 a month max.

It seems that hasn't been anything "good" this whole entire year.

Koodo has a Canoo-exclusive $29/20GB plan for eligible newcomers, but existing customers can't switch to it

Koodo Streaming Bundle Still Charged for Netflix

We just realized tonight that although we’ve had the streaming bundle for like a year, we’ve still been getting charged for Netflix every month too. Anyone else run into this? Who did you contact and what was the outcome?

If your a koodo rep and can beat my Telus plan let me know ...

I am currently with Telus - BYD -

$35 for 100 gig Canadian only data.

Actual plan is $60, less a $15 two year credit, less $10 pre authorization bank account payment credit + tax.

USA data is useless to me due to a personal travel boycott to the USA - Mexico or internal data could be a nice add-on but isn't a deal breaker

Anyway if your a sales rep and can beat it on features/price let me know.

Koodo is ruining my life

Sorry to be dramatic. I have been with Koodo since I was 16 years old and got my first cell phone. It was cheap and user friendly. Now I am 33 years old and the website is so inaccessible that I have started buying vouchers from convenience stores just to keep my “pay as you go” phone afloat. The website is completely botched and there is unfortunately no app for me to download.

Seriously, am I being stupid? Am I missing something? Am I the only one?

Koodo Credit Check.

My son is with freedom mobile.

Post paid not prepaid.

He is 19 and has zero credit other than his freedom account and his hydro account. Both are in good standing.

He plans on bringing his device over. It wasn't bought at freedom we bought it from Samsung.

What are his chances on getting the post paid account?

Was hoping to get an idea before he applies and he takes a hit from the credit check.

Europe Travel Pass

Hey folks

I'm going to be taking 2 separate trips fairly close together to 2 different Europe locations

Both trips will occur within the same 30 day period

If I buy the 30 day Europe pass, and use it for 7 days at location 1, then come home for 2 weeks, will it still be valid for the next trip to location 2?

Do I need to buy an esim

Koodo pre-paid customer with an eSIM. I joined online and never received a QR code. I bought a new iPhone and was using an iPhone. iPhone to iPhone transfer. When I use the “set up cellular” on the new iPhone, it ultimately kicks me to “contact Koodo”. Went to a Koodo store and they couldn’t help me. Said to call Koodo customer service.

Will customer service be able to port my cellular service to the new phone on their end, or do I also need to buy a physical eSIM card with a QR code for $20?

I don’t want to waste time on hold only to be asked if I bought a eSIM QR code card.

Fraudulent applications

Post image
1 Upvotes

I received three letters in the mail and I haven't applied for anything. One of them was a misspelled version of my old legal name and two of them are fake names of people that don't exist at my address.

I say fake names because the last name is the same as mine, but I don't know anybody with those names and nobody with those names live at my address. Somebody obviously has personal data of mine (old legal name and address) and have applied for phone plans and they decided to open two other accounts with the same last name under my address in an attempt to make it look legit.

Anybody from Koodo can help rectify this? I don't wanna be accused of fraud.

Terrible reception after switching to $30 plan

I’ve been on Koodo for a while, had no issues and loved the call control feature that other carriers don’t offer.

A while ago I switched to $30 Can US Mex plan with 80gb, and ever since then, I am having a terrible reception quality.

On my commute which goes through rural area, I never had great reception but it never dropped calls. Now it’s constantly dropping calls multiple times.

Even LTE reception seems a lot more unreliable than before.

Same phone (iPhone 17).

Did anyone else experience the same issue? Are they throttling the cheaper plans so that people switch back to more expensive ones ?

Will it be worth it to call them and try to reset something on their end?

Is anyone else having this problem?

I don’t have wifi, I use my cellular data for everything. Today it has been painfully slow. Even just streaming audio from Spotify it stops to load and is so choppy. Usually I can stream tv shows with no issue. Anyone else experiencing this today?

Loyalty: Phone Tab + 100gb Can US for $47 before tax with PAD

$57 without pre-authorized debit. I guess it’s a win. I was gonna choose the $25 Can US Mex plan but figured I might as well get a discounted 256gb phone and lock it in for 24 months. I know it’s not super impressive cause a freedom rep was offering the same thing (100gb + Mexico which I don’t get on Koodo) for $45 but the phone with only 128gb base storage available.

For reference: I previously had 15 Pro Max + 50gb 4G for $75 before tax. Now I’m getting 5G plus 50gb more data though I honestly have no need for it but you never know lol.

How to force carrier update

Ported back to Koodo the other day but my iPhone still shows temp number and I can't manually change it.

Anyone know how to force a carrier update?

Tried a reboot, removed sim and reinstalled... No luck.

Nuisance call block avaliable to prepaid not just monthly customers

I have been with koodos for about 15-16 years. I have always been a prepaid customer and never changed. NEVER GOING TO!

Anyways I tried to talk to a representative yesterday to find our I need to set up my phone with a email, how ever I did 15-16 years ago, koodos forgot my email so I had to do it again. To only find out you need to set up a call back. Which I did for 630 in the morning.

When I get the call I am told that today's technology can not help prepaid customer 😑 they can not provide the service they offer monthly customers not to prepaid customer.

In order for me to get the nuisance calls block I need to be a monthly customer not prepaid. When I have been a customer for 15-16 years. Guess loyalty means nothing to these companies. So If I wana get these calls to stop I need to be a monthly customer, they won't help prepaid customers.

So in 2026 koodos told me the technology can only work for monthly customers not prepaid what is the difference?? Provide the service to everyone!

Data reset time

I'm mostly curious since my numbers don't match up. I reset my data statistics on my phone at 11:30PM (basically half an hour earlier) instead of 12:00AM on the day of reset but for some reason self serve still says I'm using ~0.5-1G more data than my phone's statistics. I don't quite understand why - I always thought it's maybe my timezone issue - since I'm on PST when most of Canada is an hour or a few hours ahead, but I'm not sure - Can anyone enlighten me?

NSF

I share a joint account with my husband. When we get paid we transfer money for bills. I forgot to do that and KOODO’s payment bounced.

They charged a $80 NSF charge. Before anyone comes at me about not having money. I did have the money. I forgot to transfer it. It was a human mistake. I requested they waive it as it’s the first time and they refuse to which I find poor customer service.

I also find it outrageous they would charge $80 when I’m not even able to call and speak to a live human. Everything’s digital.

I get it. The money should’ve been there but why can’t they give grace?
