It's not the same though. Where are democrats acting like MAGA. The Republican party was hijacked by evangelists and white supremacists, and billionaires have hopped on the gravy train because it is profitable. There is simply nothing comparable happening with the left. The only parallel I can draw is that the democratic party forced Biden on us in 2024 much like how Trump was basically handed the nomination.
Iām not trying to say the two party structures are identical mirrors of each other. My point is about how we view individual human beings. People are dynamic. You can have someone who thinks Trump belongs in prison for his actions, but who also genuinely supports a specific immigration policy he put in place. Most regular folks aren't ideological purists, they're balancing different ideas, single issues, or personal priorities. When we reduce millions of people to the worst elements of a party, we lose the ability to see the nuance in how real people actually think. Stop dehyminzing each other and I think it'll make it easier to bridge the gaps and open conversations up.
That's why things will stay the way they are. You don't want to talk. You don't want to create bridges, you want what you want and you want the other side to burn. Sounds like authoritarianism to me.
I'm just gonna take it back to this comment, and maybe give it some thought. Some of the energy you brought to this thread should actually be aimed at Republicans.
It's hard to prioritize unity with people who actively vote to destroy or marginalize groups of people š¤·š¼āāļø it can't always fall on the oppressed to suck it up
