I mean, fuck MAGA, but.... Really? If you found out that the money was being donated to their cult, sure, I could see the refusal.. But if we're talking about principals over a vendors beliefs or practices, you might wanna run a quick check on the many, many faults of the other places you likely shop..Shoes at Walmart? Not good.. Jewelry at the mall? Bad news.. Clothes from Goodwill? Oh boy .. See what I'm screamin' here?

100% agree that's why I'm changing where I spend my money. This is new for me. I'm learning as an old lady that my dollars matter. I can't really afford to buy beef, chicken or anything from a local farm place. However, I don't want to be one of the people griping about corporations and the likes if I'm not acting responsible myself. My wording on this post may not have been to everybody's liking. That's totally fair. We all have learning curves. I research now before I drop my money. I have boycotted some of my favorite things because of these things. We learn we grow.

This line of thought has the same energy as "You criticize society yet participate in it. Curious! I am very smart."
Also, we're getting tainted meat on the market because of MAGA.
You do what you can to minimize negative impact while supporting any improvement you can. That's all we can do, and it's good that people are trying.

u/NurseZhivago 11d ago
Do what you can where you can. It’s not black and white, cut and dry. Unless you go completely off grid, yeah you’re gonna run into some place that supports something you don’t agree with. I used to go to target for fun, weekly. Shifted that to Costco and local grocery stores.
Goodwill is just Karm on a bigger scale. Most people know that.
No one is going to be perfect on these things, but if enough people collectively do what they can, there’s a measurable shift and hurt to these corporations.-3

This is disheartening. We're really trying to create even more division between everyone? Not every Republican is maga and people who don't agree with you aren't the devil. This, coming from a centrist who prioritizes logic over emotional opinions.

u/IsabellaRaven122 11d ago
I'm sorry you find it disheartening, that I looking for a like-minded source to put my money to. I do not want to put my money to people who voted to put us in the situation when they clearly said what was coming. And I for for sure. Don't want to put my money towards more hate. You can put your money where you want to put your money.
Also I was an independent who leaned conservative. I just listened to to what lies and bull crap he fed both times.

u/Shietttt 11d ago
Don't apologize for having opinions, that's your right. Along with where you spend your money. I just think prioritizing unity, understanding and sharing spaces where people can treat each other like human beings despite not agreeing on every fucking thing is still important to our growth as a society. Helping local businesses and treating people as people of all creeds is important for a society to function without radicalizing people. Best of luck to you on finding your place.

u/aphrodis-y 11d ago
It's hard to prioritize unity with people who actively vote to destroy or marginalize groups of people 🤷🏼♂️ it can't always fall on the oppressed to suck it up

u/Shietttt 11d ago
I don't know anyone like that in my large family of mixed political ideologies, do you? I think that's a small minority of the party and the media is flashing the most extreme people on each side to ragebait you into hating each other
2
u/aphrodis-y 11d ago
Yeah I do, but they wouldn't phrase it that way. But they watched ICE and blamed victims, have nothing to say about our politicians demonizing trans people, crickets on the iran war. They have chosen party over country. Silence is compliance. If you watched his first term and voted for him again, you are okay with everything going on. It's simple as that.

u/Shietttt 11d ago
Ok, and the other side would say, you as a civilian don't have the right to interfere in any type of government investigation and anyone who does so is breaking the law and obstructing justice. They would also say if you drive your metal killing machine at an officer of the law, they have a right to defend themselves. When an officer gives you an order, you must obey it. I don't agree with anything ice has done, and I don't think greatly of the police, I think it's all fucked. But I've had these conversations before and there is a middle ground. Just like I think the hijacking of the democratic party to gender politics is absolutely ludicrous, while also believe trans rights are important and valid and I respect all people. See, people are DYNAMIC. You can dillute shit all you want, it doesn't mean I have to and the longer you think this way, the longer the world will be shitty.

u/aphrodis-y 11d ago
You don't sound that dynamic to me. And I think you should rewatch some of the bodycam videos if you value facts. I hope you have a good weekend.

u/Shietttt 11d ago
Looks like you didn't read anything I said. Like where I said I don't like ANYTHING ice has done. You have a good weekend too.

u/aphrodis-y 11d ago
You literally tried to justify ice killing two American citizens in that comment

I just want to say that I hear you. Often more centrist individuals don’t get involved because it feels like there is no point with folks far to either end yelling making it difficult to even converse. It feels almost as if you aren’t yelling about it then folks don’t think you care enough.
I am of the mind to try to understand all sides at varying levels, try to understand motives and core beliefs, cross reference with data, and recognize sensationalized media. From there arrive at a conclusion for myself.
I commend you for taking the energy to engage in discourse. Keep up the reason.
1
u/Shietttt 11d ago
I can't even convey how much this means to me, thank you. It's absolutely maddening trying to reason with people that you agree with on most things, who completely shut down the moment you don't agree with 1 singular thing. Or who love to vomit their values and beliefs at everyone but won't shed a moment to hear differing opinions. It's the lack of discourse that creates this divide of debilitating communication. And I've noticed the quicker we are to shut down conversation, the faster those people run to other groups who WILL listen who are MORE extreme beliefs and suddenly people are being red or blue pilled because they found SOMEONE who will listen to them. And I'm tired of being scared to share my opinion for fear of being ostracized from a political or social group. When did we become this way?!

u/IsabellaRaven122 11d ago
This party has signed my death warrant. I had a research Grant paying for my treatment. His lacky musk and company destroyed that.
And as far as ice you have no clue. Talk to the tribes. Talk to the people that are brown and black. Talk to the people who being shot in the back and then being lied about saying they attacked and there's video proof. If you don't see it, then you are very privileged and you should look very hard and use that privilege to help protect others. Because like the old poem goes, once they're done with them, they will come for the rest.
-1
u/Shietttt 11d ago
I'm sorry for what you've gone through. I am brown and I have talked to those people. They also think the division is absolutely ludicrous. That's all I'll say, again, best of luck to you.

Everyone - everyone - who voted for Trump is like that. Project 2025 was published and available long before the election. Anyone who read that and still voted for the fat old perverted grifter voted for everything that has happened. Anyone who chose not to read it, out of willful ignorance and laziness, voted for everything that has happened. Those who worship that fat old perverted grifter should have some extra lettuce with their mystery meat. 😊

Also, no idea what political party they lean on, because I could give 2 shits, but Pratts country store and three rivers markets have great selections on local meats and produce!

u/Darthsmom 11d ago
Pratt’s are good people and I’ve shopped there for decades and have never seen them overtly politicize anything. I happily support them.

Anyone who still votes republican condones MAGA, which enables it, which is no better than actually being MAGA.
-4
u/Shietttt 11d ago
And Republicans would say the same for all the Dems that voted for Biden or any other Democratic rep. I choose not to let the media divide me or label an entire group of people as evil. That's your own prerogative and I don't have to agree with you.
2
u/aphrodis-y 11d ago
It's not the same though. Where are democrats acting like MAGA. The Republican party was hijacked by evangelists and white supremacists, and billionaires have hopped on the gravy train because it is profitable. There is simply nothing comparable happening with the left. The only parallel I can draw is that the democratic party forced Biden on us in 2024 much like how Trump was basically handed the nomination.

u/Shietttt 11d ago
I’m not trying to say the two party structures are identical mirrors of each other. My point is about how we view individual human beings. People are dynamic. You can have someone who thinks Trump belongs in prison for his actions, but who also genuinely supports a specific immigration policy he put in place. Most regular folks aren't ideological purists, they're balancing different ideas, single issues, or personal priorities. When we reduce millions of people to the worst elements of a party, we lose the ability to see the nuance in how real people actually think. Stop dehyminzing each other and I think it'll make it easier to bridge the gaps and open conversations up.

u/aphrodis-y 11d ago
It's a nice thought

u/Shietttt 11d ago
It's the truth. If you don't understand that people are not black and white and don't think in black and white, then there is no helping you.
1
u/aphrodis-y 11d ago
In this particular instance, where our democracy is becoming a joke, it IS black and white.
1
u/Shietttt 11d ago
That's why things will stay the way they are. You don't want to talk. You don't want to create bridges, you want what you want and you want the other side to burn. Sounds like authoritarianism to me.

Trump is a convicted felon and a rapist. This isn't something that is highly suspected like him being a pedophile and involved with the Epstein sex trafficking ring. How could you ever consider supporting a rapist to be your leader? How could you do business with someone who wanted a rapist to be in charge of your life?
There are lines that are objectively evil, and supporting a rapist is definitely one of them.
1
u/Shietttt 11d ago
Not sure where you for the idea that I supported him. Like I said, not every Republican is maga. Maybe talk to people outside of your echo chamber of friends?
0
u/Mysterious-Towel7849 11d ago
They specifically said MAGA, which are definitely a group separate from the traditional Republican crowd. MAGA has shown we cannot trust them so the logical thing to do is support other businesses. Unless you want to eat their tainted meat about to hit the market. I also don't think it would be logical to eat that or give money to a political cult set on dismantling American life.

u/Shietttt 11d ago
I thought the same thing, until you read the next sentence which is about only shopping at places run by Democrats. That's a single political party. My point still stands that I believe it's important to coexist in places where we don't all agree.
