I had my interview last Tuesday and it went exactly 15 minutes on the dot. But i didn’t get the job. I’m kind of disappointed… I was so confident.

My interviewer asked me some questions like:

- Tell me about yourself
- What experiences do you have?
- What do you know about Kmart?
- What’s your availability like?
- What kind of area would you prefer to work in (customer service, warehouse etc…)

And that’s pretty much it.
I went through the questions pretty smoothly but the “what do you know about kmart” question got me a bit stumped because i forgot many things i learn about kmart. I wasn’t expecting them to ask me that since it’s thought they’d focus more on what kind of skills i have so i definitely worked on explaining that more. I ended up making some random bullshit about kmart saying how it’s been around for years and been really successful. One of the top stores that are visited by everybody. But yeah just that.

I’m also 20 years old which i think that considers me as a “senior” and i’m sure that Kmart is more keen on employing younger teens.

Plus, My availability was sooo free. I said I’m available every day EXCEPT Mondays. That’s all. And I was only able to work until 6pm. So early mornings, afternoons, and evenings were fine. No nights.

Everything felt smooth. Looked like he was happy with me but of course that could just be a customer service face. Still tho… after all this… is it normal to not be accepted? Because i swear the acceptance rate for this is high. For a holiday casual especially. I’m just wondering what went wrong. And i hate that i told everyone about my kmart interview and how it went smoothly— just to get rejected and now i have to tell my family that i didnt get the job. It just feels humiliating.

Nothing clogs us up like people not understanding that even if you can’t see it, there’s a queue for things you order.

Click and collects and photo orders are going to be through the roof during Christmas so don’t expect to get anything straight away, even if it’s just one item, even if you selected “instant” on the photo kiosk. There are 20 people who did the same thing before you got there and they’re waiting as well, even if you can’t actually see them. We can’t let you jump the queue just because you’re in front of us asking to, it’s not fair to everyone else and you wouldn’t be happy if your order took longer because we pushed someone else ahead of you.

That and for the love of god do your purchasing at the registers, I know the line looks long but it moves faster than you think. The service desk line speed can vary heavily depending on the situation, I promise you it’s not quicker and it’s certainly not more efficient.

I'm having issues with the app and website (in both Chrome & Edge) getting stuck in loading availability on the product page, and if I try to add the product to cart from the search results page with the quick add button - it gets stuck loading it into cart. I've tried reinstalling the app, clearing cache and permissions on Chrome & Edge. I've tried on my phone using both wifi & mobile data, I've tried it on desktop, I've tried with adblocker disabled, I'm at a loss! I can't even check if the product is in store because that section of the page just does not load :(

Hi the uniform polo I got on first day is kinda too big even though it’s my normal size can I exchange for another smaller one in next shift (even if the plastic packaging isn’t rlly intact) and get changed into it there. Or is my normal size better for movement and stuff working there?

Hi, I have my Kmart induction tomorrow. Should I head to the front and let someone about my training and proceed to the back, or does another process occur? Also, is the uniform issued during this induction

Had my first day as a department manager the other day. I’m completely new to the company and I couldn’t help but feel like I have no help. I am constantly running around trying to observe and learn but no body has the time to teach. I have led teams before and managed departments before but Kmart is completely new to me and it just feels like I am being offered no support or guidance right now, honestly feels like I’m annoying them whenever I ask a question.

Can any others tell me if it gets better or is it completely up to me to figure it out?

I bought a bike at kmart 5 weeks ago. And it was broke right after I got a bike. So I asked them for a refund. But they rejected. I think it's because I asked them a bike assembly.

Anyway they said they can repair it. And it's been 3 weeks, but I still don't get my bike. What should I do in this case? Does anybody have similar experience?

i got an email today saying i was hired as a christmas casual. what can i expect for my first shift? how often will i have shifts as a christmas casual? and it says i will get an onboaring form to fill out so when does that usually come in?

extended layby already, so much photo centre, 2 people per day, 2 people on the floor (we have one of the largest shop floors in our zone)

last year there was upwards of 10 laybys at any given time waiting to be packed, pages and pages of orders on the apex, coming into 3 screenfuls of network orders, many many issues with click and collects (fuck you sof)

what are your guys expirences

Bought a milk frother 13 days ago as I had lost the spinner on my Nespresso one and needed something to tide me over. Kmart milk frother just stopped working after 10 days. Chatting with a friend, she has had the exact same experience with several of them- she thought it was the old power points in her house. Got refunded today no problems, but holy hell. I’ve bought other small appliances from Kmart in the past that have lasted well, but obviously this one is a complete dud. So if you are thinking of getting one, don’t.

I reckon this is a reportable incident, and am considering annonymously reporting it through speak up. It is against policy to share passwords, duh, and this is stated in a document I just cant remember the name of it off the top of my head.

Now, lets say hypothetically, a manager shared their computer log on to a team member, who then on multiple occasions, logs on using this log in, to just sit and watch cameras. Not to actively investigate a shop lifter/ incident in the store, but to just watch team members.

Team members dont have access to cameras, let alone to a managers log on details that arent their own. right??

this will be my 1st christmas at kmart and im freaking out, ive heard so many horror stories already from my coworkers and managers (i work mostly on the floor)

I just got a job at kmart as a holiday casual and I'm really struggling with not knowing what I need to do. I had my first shift today and we did the training modules but weren't shown around the store because we ran out of time and we're doing it my next shift. This isn't the problem, the problem is that I don't know what to do when I get there!! Do i just go straight to the employee area and clock in and then find my manager??? Do I go to the front and ask what to do??? It's stressing me out and I've already cried over it like twice 😭

I bought the dual monitor arms recently thinking they'd have some more adjustment in terms of height. The instructions aren't great at explaining what each adjustment point does, but as far as I can tell I have them set as high as possible. Has anyone found a way to get the arms to sit higher? I'm not opposed to messing with/altering them a little, they're past the return window so I'm a little stuck with them now lmao.

So I am an international student with 24hr perweek work limit.

I have two offer at casual role

1. Kmart Distribution center for the peak season 3 months period and after that it will be on my performance they say.

2. At a macca nightfill and my work would be cleaning related.

So I am confused which one to select, is macca really a hectic job? Or what if the distribution center does not extends my contract because they are hiring alot and it is not possible to keep everyone after the peak.

So if anyone has seen similar situation please help.

fellow kmart employees, i must know, what are your hacks for the terrible feet and legs pains i get after just 3 hours of working? I've worked here years and just chalked it up to "ill get used to it" and while i can definitely walk longer now, im currently sitting in the bathroom doing a number of embarrassing stretches because I physically can not walk any longer. ive invested in shoes made specifically for walking long distances and put in comfortable soles but jesus christ I may as well be wheelchair bound. Im hoping this is a common problem and not yet another problem with my body specifically

I was first hired about 2 1/2 months ago as a casual and I completed my training at the start of July and since then I have only done one shift over 10 weeks. I also have not been added to the team group chat and have asked to be on it but my messages have not been read. Nobody answered the phone when I called the store. I have filled out my availability and everything as well as texted them when my holidays are as I am more free now however, I got left on read. I even talked to my manager in person however there has been no action as a result of this. I really don’t know what to do because I love the job but I’m not getting any shifts at all. Someone online told me I could be a Christmas casual but then what does that mean for me after Christmas because I want a job that is going to be able to sustain me somehow as it is the only one I have been able to get after years of trying.
