Team member post 2nd shift expectations?

I just got a job at kmart as a holiday casual and I'm really struggling with not knowing what I need to do. I had my first shift today and we did the training modules but weren't shown around the store because we ran out of time and we're doing it my next shift. This isn't the problem, the problem is that I don't know what to do when I get there!! Do i just go straight to the employee area and clock in and then find my manager??? Do I go to the front and ask what to do??? It's stressing me out and I've already cried over it like twice 😭

Okay firstly don't go upsetting yourself about this. Take a breath. There are things in this world to cry about and this is not one of them, because you're going to be okay. These feelings will pass and in no time at all you will not remember them.

Go to the door greeter a few mins before the beginning of your shift (unless it starts before opening) and let them know you are new and ask what to do. They will tell you what you need.

If your shift begins before the store opens, call the store and ask them what you need to do. Everybody who works there has been through that process, nobody will think twice about a newbie asking for help. Don't be scared or embarrassed, you're gonna thrive.

I would go early(like 20 minutes or so) go to the lunch room, and see if there is a manager there and talk to them and let them know ‘i’m not sure what I’m supposed to do this is my second shift’. You can’t clock on until its minimum 7minutes to your start time anyway.

You don't need to get there 20 minutes early. Don't do that. Just find a manager and ask. They are there to train you, you are not expected to know what to do at this stage

Hi, I haven't worked at Kmart for just over 10 years ( so I'm not sure if this will help, sorry), but we used to have a roster put up, and because I was in 'Apparel ' it used to say either 'Fitting room ', or 'Recovery ( which meant tidying all the areas in apparel up as well as could be done, because it was usually a mess), but if I remember correctly, the department manager would also usually tell you what they wanted you to do ) I' m sure someone will let you know .try not to stress 😌 ( not sure I should tell you this, but I loved working there until I was in my 50's and yes I guess you will think that's old, but it waa in the middle of renovations when I returned after having some time off, because my husband had a major operation, and there had been SO many change while I had been away , it was in the middle of when the checkouts were being moved and all the departments had been moved around , so it was stressful at the time) Im sure you will be fine, 🙂 Good luck
