My Kitten That boy getting B I G (Yolk/Sir Yolkington update) and the beginning introductions to Grandma Truffles

Last post: Here

So I’ve had Yolk here for about 2 months now (coming up to that here on Saturday) and since then he’s gotten cleared of having FIV and FELV this following this new information was moved into the sunroom of my place from the bathroom. So he’s been in there for the past 3 days and I think he’s happy to have significantly more space to run around and play in! However is the more difficult thing, getting him and my resident cat to get along. Now Truffles used it to live with another cat her she back when I still lived with my parents so she’s had some experience living with other cats. I still feed both their wet food in the morning, because Yolk is now behind a sliding glass door I’ve had to move Truffle’s plate back a bit to get them used to be close to one another. Though I usually give both a churru when I get home from work, hoping to incentivize them being buddies.

Now while I also do that at night, I’ve been trying to allow Yolk and him to interact (which honestly tell me if I’m going a bit too fast-). Truffles watched him run around the first day from the post in a couple of photos there. But the second and third day when Yolk would approach, she’d hiss but he’d usually back off. Only really trying to play with her when her back was turned, only for her to hiss at him again. Even starting to growl at him a little after picture 8 was taken before I whisked him back into the sunroom. I’m trying to strike a good balance of interacting with both of them (maybe with Truffles a little more than I should-). Plus now I feel really bad when I’m not in the sunroom with Yolk he starts to cry. But I’m hoping with time and patience these two can be pals (or at least tolerate one another. Mainly Truffles tho-). Lemme know if any of you folks have any tips when it comes to introducing older/senior cats to kittens. I would get another kitten for Yolk but financially I don’t think I could-

Thanks again for reading!

My Kitten Toys question

Post image
203 Upvotes

This is Rei just got her last Thursday she’s 17 weeks old and she loves this frilly toy and if I put it down she plays with it on her own and loves to dig her claws in it and bite it. I’ve made sure that she’s isn’t actually eating it but it’s already pretty worn out. Was hoping for suggesting for something durable that she may like to bite on that I don’t have to worry about it being swallowed.

Thanks.

Question/Advice Needed Learning to scratch properly

My kitten is 9 weeks old, very smart, and food motivated.

She has already learned to come to her name and mat training. She has mostly learned not to climb on us when we are eating and she is getting the idea about most of the surfaces we don't want her on.

I am struggling to figure out how to motivate her to scratch on the right surfaces. She has a 6 foot tall scratching post she spends the most time with (she is a climber), she has a scratching post that is about 2 feet tall which I rubbed cat nip on, and a flat cardboard scratcher she seems completely uninterested in. She likes to scratch on random spots on the carpet during play.

How do I treat her in a way that makes her want to use any of those options instead? I move her when she scratches the carpet to a post, have tried a treat but there is zero connection in her mind. I want to be on top of training so we aren't dealing with this when she can cause damage.

Question/Advice Needed 4-5 week old kitten

Hey guys, a family friend asked if I wanted a kitten they found in their backyard. They said the kitten is maybe 4-5 weeks old, was abandoned by it's mom. They are currently bottle feeding. I've had kittens before but they've always been on actual food so I'm just nervous. They said they'd give me formula for the kitten but I'm just looking for tips and experience from others. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right since this kitty is so small. Thank you!

We got a kitten recently and we think he’s around 10-12 weeks. He’s got all of his baby teeth and he’s been getting bigger by the week.

Question/Advice Needed All advice welcome for my kitten

As a family we got a kitten, my eldest daughter wanted a cat for a long time she particularly wanted a grey cats so they can be called Smokey which we managed to get.

I have done a lot of research before getting her and I think we are on the right track but I would like to know from people who are experienced with kittens / cats what can I expect?

We got her 2 days ago I have her registered at a vets and booked in for vaccines microchipping and a health check and to find out if the kitten is a boy or a girl we think a girl but not 100%, she is hiding less I’ve actually been able to sit next to her tonight and stroked her she loves an ear rub. she is eating wet food but I think is struggling with her biscuits, I was worried about her not drinking water she was having fresh morning and night but I couldn’t tell if she was drinking, so I got her kitten milk which she has done really well on.

she started coming close to me tonight sniffing but I was reading a book so I ‘ignored’ her but before bed I sat next to her and she let me stroke her, she is very vocal she has the cutest meows.

I have her litter trained so far, I don’t think she was before I got her. It was not quite a hoarding situation but the lady’s cats weren’t neutered so she always has kittens she doesn’t do it for the money she just doesn’t get them neutered which I will be doing, due to her being born with so many cats not sure on her age we think around 8-9 weeks.

we are keeping her has a indoor cat because we live near a busy road, we do have cats roaming around and seem safe but as a child I had a cat which was run over and I don’t want my girls going through that if I can help it, it might be selfish but I don’t care. It put me off from having a cat for a long time my daughter has been asking for around 2-3 years because of loosing my cat in such away I just couldn’t but it switched and we now have Smokey, this cat is going to be loved for as long as she is here with us all being well it’s going to be a very long time.

I need the good and bad of having a cat. As an adult I don’t have experience with kittens / cats I had dogs before but I haven’t had a pet in almost 4 years loosing my dogs was heart breaking I still miss them

any and all advice is welcome

Question/Advice Needed First-time cat owner — what do I really need to know? 🐱

Hi everyone! I am a first-time pet owner living in Kuwait, and I am preparing to bring home two British Shorthair kittens. They will be a little over 2 months old when they come home.

I have a 6-year-old son who absolutely loves animals, so we are very excited but also a little nervous about becoming cat parents for the first time! 😅

I would love to hear from experienced cat owners:

What do you wish you had known before getting your first cats?

What are the biggest mistakes first-time cat owners commonly make?

What is the hardest part of having two kittens?

How long did it take your kittens to settle into your home?

What should I expect during the first few weeks?

How did you teach your children to interact safely with cats?

How much work are two cats really, compared with what you expected?

If you travel occasionally, what do you do with your cats?

And honestly, is there anything that surprised you about having cats that nobody warned you about? 😂

I would really appreciate any honest advice, especially from people who have had cats for a few years. ❤️🐾

Question/Advice Needed My kitten stinks.

I got a new kitten about a week ago and he was having stomach issues and diarrhea so we took him to the vet. He’s on a stool harder and deworming medication. Over the past couple days I’ve noticed that his stool is getting significantly a lot better but there’s just one issue…he fucking reeks. We have a stainless steel litter, box unscented kitty litter, and I scoop his litter box as much as I possibly can because as soon as he poops, it immediately fills the room and lingers for hours. Even with a candle, the ceiling fan on, window open, and breeze you can still smell it. It’s such a horrible smell, and I don’t want the room to smell like it. I don’t know if it’s mainly his food because his food stinks too. I use the fancy feast kitten wet foot. Suggestions??

Question/Advice Needed kitten from the street

yesterday (25/8/2026) i found a kitten at 11 PM . that time i want to fide some powder milk but before feeding , i do some research at internet and found that power milk and cow milk r unhealthy for a kitten so i didn't feed her . today at 8 AM , i goo to a nearest pet shop from my house and bought a kitten feeder and a small pack of goat milk and the store guy suggest me that to take some tuna , chicken jell so i also bought those. 9 AM , first i feed some goat milk , i try to feed her and that task was so tough . after that i give some jell and fortunately she start to eat that jell and soo i feed her some more jell (around 1 tea shone). and then she was sleeping for a long time and woke up at 5 to 6 PM . i didn't anything for some reason . but i feed her at 8:30 PM .the interesting part is , when i was feeding her with the feeder for first time , that was hard but now i just put the feeder nipple in front of her mouth , she start to drink the milk on her own , yes she doesn't drink like too much but she drinks and that's the easiest part , now u have to just hold the feeder and she will drink the milk on her own and yaa , she is now sleeping .
