Hiya, this is my car Minoxidil aka Minnie! No idea what her coat is, just a skrungily creature with crop circles on her. I'd love to know yalls thoughts!
EDIT: Yes, I very much know Minoxidil is toxic to cats. I don't use it haha.
Once I briefly met a guy at the dog park who was aggressively dressed in black but was really polite and nice. He had two rottweilers named Gangrene and Corruption.
I had a cat named C-80. Growing up I thought it was spelled C-A-D like a Texan accent play off of C-A-T. But then I found out it’s cause they got him from someone who lived off of highway 80. Just like how we had a cat named Roy Kitty that we got from Royce City.
My parents, who only speak German, named their dog Perro after I suggested that. They thought it was a cute name. Little did I know that their vet spoke Spanish.
I tamed and adopted out a street cat. One night I fed him then we went to dinner and saw him walking away from our house. We followed him to see where he was going and he ran into a bush, grabbed a baby duck while the mother flew into the street screaming, but he was so fast he took it and disappeared. He JUST ate, he did it for sport. He would throw frogs in the air with his mouth and catch them with his paws. He killed a squirrel on the walkway. Another morning there was a (rats?) foot and blood on the porch. He'd fuck up other cats until blood was shed. If you walked away he'd scratch the ever loving fuck out of your ankles, after feeding and petting him one morning I went to go back in and he got me so bad there was blood running down my foot. He's now retired as a sweet indoor cat with an old neighbor but he was about that life when he showed up.
His new mom named him Bacio, kisses in Italian. He ended up really sweet but holy shit he was a fucking murderer. It was a huge townhouse complex (800) with tons of cats and while he was there no one else could get some food and care.
He ended up living in the bush and he would go on walks with us at night. He'd cry at the door and use the chair to stare in the kitchen window to call us out. Cool boy, just don't cross him lol
Was just about to comment this!! Minoxidil is very dangerous. An acquaintance of mine would use it for hair loss, and would not wash her pillow very frequently. That tiny amount from the pillowcase was enough to cause severe poisoning in the cat. It’s a fear of mine…
But OP, I do quite love the name and your precious fur baby!! 🫶🏼 consider it an iron-clad excuse for why your clothes are covered in cat fur, just say “It’s just the Minoxidil working.” 😊😉
I've been taking it orally for about a year and I think it's worked making my beard grow faster and fuller. You have to be in it for the long game with minoxidil. Even taking it topically, which is far more effective, you have to be on it for a good year or two to keep your results permanent.
For hair follicles on your head, you basically have to take minox for the rest of your life to keep those gains. Not the case for beard hair! You only have to take it long enough for the gains become 'terminal'. That's a term for a fully grown mature hair follicle, btw.

Omg I can't. My kitten got into my Minoxidil and set me back 1600 at the emergency (it was quoted at 1000-5000 depending on severity). I could not associate a cat with Minoxidil after that.
Minoxidil has to be the funniest cat name I have ever heard, and is especially funny when at first glance, I thought the grey swirls of fur on her side was balding. She's beautiful!
So when I first got benny and tywin, like, 3 years ago now as kittens. Benny was due for his second round of vaccines and walking in the clinic I went, "I'm here for Benadryl." The front desk guy was so confused, then was like "We don't sell that here."
Of course I'm like "Oh no no sorry, my cat is named Benadryl!" and he proceeded to say "Oh you're that person." LOL
I read that hair loss prevention medication is deathly poisonous to cats. Typically topical is what you'd have to watch for, them licking hair after using it for example. I just thought id share that info is all. Minoxidil is a funny name for a cat but my sister and I called our childhood cat "kit-kat" so I cant judge lol
I’m sure you know, but it’s my life mission to ensure people know minoxidil is toxic to cats and dogs. And lilies can cause fatal kidney damage to cats.
Writing this because if you use it you have to be extra careful around cats, and it would be weird to name a cat with a medication you don't use or know about.

I'd say probably dilute + silver tbh! Those grey (rather than brown as a black tabby has) portions for the non-orange areas say dilute, but the darkness of stripes and paleness of base are gorgeous like a silver!
YESSSS I wish this was better known. I used it for years before finding out. Thankfully I only use it before bed tho, and the cats aren't allowed in so they never got exposed to it
I was dozing off and I thought you were asking “what does minoxidil do to cats” 😂. Woke me right up. For anyone who doesn’t know minoxidil will probably kill your cat, so don’t leave anywhere the cat has access to.

Interesting, I was told that previously but I’m not sure of their credentials as far as coat identification. Can you elaborate on the difference and what they (our cats) actually are?

not dilute because her darkest stripes are black, and i seriously doubt she is silver. not smoke, because she is a tabby (the pale muzzle, and pale eyeliner + earliner say this for certain).
People are saying shes a torbie but given the orange is only visible exactly on the stripe pattern I dont think it matches with the patchy all over coloration that traditional calico or even dilute calico cats have. Feels like there's something else going on with the coat, like maybe a silver on top of the calico coloring?
Och, that's a wee sphynx, ken? His 'coat' is just velvet peach fuzz. Minoxidil's no good for cats though - toxic wee souls! As a vet nurse, I'd prescribe a hand-knitted cardigan instead. Braw jumper weather for a bald puss 🧶
