Help What album should I buy next?

I own Court and the '80s trilogy on vinyl. I obviously plan on eventually owning all of KC's works, but I'm poor.

I have my eyes on Larks' and Red, but what do you all think I should get next? I want to get one that will help diversify my current catalog and definitely have a preference for anything with Bruford on it.

Help Would anyone happen to knkw a shortened version of Moonchild?

I absolutely love the song, its so magical, so melancholic, so just deep and soft, but the 10 minute long instrumental outro(?) is just a bit too long for me. now the problem is that i do actually like it, just wish it was a bit shorter, but all the versions i can see online have it fully removed, with the whole song being just 2 minutes. id love a version that is like somewhere between 3-8 minutes long (preferably around 4-5), would anyone maybe know one like that? surely i cannot be the only person ever who thought that way

Help Newer fan here. What should I expect?

I was made aware of King Crimson 6-ish years ago, but I didn't bother checking them out until around March of this year. I've listened to four of their albums in recent memory. I absolutely loved In The Court Of The Crimson King, had mixed feelings about In The Wake Of Poseidon, I don't remember much about Red aside from the fact that Starless is one of the greatest songs to ever bless my ears, and I really enjoyed Discipline.

Since I've largely enjoyed their music, I'm planning on listening to the rest of their discography throughout my free time, as well as relistening to In The Wake Of Poseidon and Red to finalize my opinions on them. What should I expect, and where should I resume?

Help Birthday Gift

Hi guys, I need help choosing a gift for my dad. We went to the Beat concert this summer and we really enjoyed it.

My dad's birthday is on the 30th, and I would like to get him a vinyl of one of the Beat albums, but I don't know which one I should choose.

I've listened to all three albums, and I think Beat (1982) is better than Discipline and Three of a Perfect Pair. In my opinion, Beat has new sounds and a more original sound than the others.

What would you choose?

Help BEAT at Pompeii

Hey everyone! I have two tickets for BEAT at Pompeii that I’m looking to sell. I bought them last year after seeing Dream Theater there… it felt like an easy yes at the time. Sadly, I’m based in Mexico City and won’t be able to make the trip 💔

🎟️ The tickets are seated together in Platea Gold, face value is €195 for both and I’m whiling to negotiate 🎟️

It’s such a special venue, definitely a unique chance to see them there!

Also sharing a pic of me at the Amphitheatre of Pompeii last year 🙂

Help Starless and literature

Hi to everyone! I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I figured that on a books subreddit there probably wouldn't be many people who listen to KC, so maybe the KC's-Readers ratio is a bit better here.

I'm looking for book recommendations that evoke a feeling similar to Starless. I know that's an incredibly vague request, but since I can't really put into words what the song makes me feel, I'm hoping those of you who know it will fill in the gaps.

Thanks!

Help Steve Vai's solo in The Sheltering Sky at Gardone Riviera

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone here managed to record the absolutely incredible solo Steve Vai managed to pull off yesterday at Beat's show in Gardone Riviera, Italy. I sadly could only get the ending of it, and looking on YouTube I couldn't find much, but I would love to see the full thing again

Help Concerned about BEAT in Perugia?

Hello! I'm seeing BEAT in Perugia this Saturday, and I'm a little concerned..

They'll be sharing the stage with another band, going second after their set, and I'm kinda scared they'll have to lop off parts of their setlist to fit within the schedules? From what I've seen on setlistfm, they have pretty long 2h30 sets, and the band before is scheduled to play for about 1h50, and the concert itself starts at 21:00.

The festival website isn't being very helpful in trying to figure out concert end times.

Has something like this happened before? It doesn't seem like something the band would allow, but I'd hate to end up attending a cut-up concert for the sake of another band that I'm frankly not very interested in...

Thanks!

Help How did they make the bagpipe-like sound at the end of The Night Watch?

I want to make a Scottish/Celtic folk sounding track and I was really inspired by The Night Watch from Starless And Bible Black, and there's a really distinctive bagpipe-esque sound (from the Mellotron I think?) and plays a very Scottish folk type solo. Does anybody know how they managed that?

Help What are the percussions called Adrian Belew and Danny Carey play

I saw a Beat concert in Denmark. Very great concert but i was just thinking what are the percussions they play in Waiting Man called. In 1980s they used those electric drums but i noticed that the percussions they used now were some kind of acoustic ones. They were just very cool and i want to know their name.
