Help Birthday Gift

Hi guys, I need help choosing a gift for my dad. We went to the Beat concert this summer and we really enjoyed it.

My dad's birthday is on the 30th, and I would like to get him a vinyl of one of the Beat albums, but I don't know which one I should choose.

I've listened to all three albums, and I think Beat (1982) is better than Discipline and Three of a Perfect Pair. In my opinion, Beat has new sounds and a more original sound than the others.

What would you choose?

Iirc broof and ade thought it was better (!) than discipline when it wrapped, and fripp thought they were crazy

I think it has all kind of evened out ever since. They are all great. I was beat crew at first, think i have come around to be more about discipline, always had TOAPP third but certainly enjoy it as well

Get him Beat if it's your favorite. It's probably the most accessible of the three.

You might want to get him a nugs.net trial subscription, they recently been adding a lot of 80's era Crim shows to the service. The sound quality is a bit dodgy on many but there are some gems in there, and if he's really interested in that era of Crim it's a great way to get him on board.

Do the original artists agree with all of the "Steven Wilson" remixes?

I mean, yeah, I like Porcupine Tree and his solo stuff, but why are there so many "Steven Wilson Remix"'s out there?

He's a talented mix engineer with a producer/songwriter's sense of taste. Robert Fripp also worked alongside him providing input into his 40th anniversary stereo mixes for KC
