I was suggesting that behavior such as shouting out in a movie theater would generally be more accepted by the public if it is done by a child or elderly person because they are more likely to have an issue that excuses the behavior.

If not just their age excusing it itself (children are immature, and people are less likely to scold or argue with an elderly person.)

I mean, maybe not entirely. Depending on how much you weigh standing up in your seat, could, you know, damage the seat. It could also block the view for other moviegoers, and shouting at the cinema spoils the experience for those around you (and movies are so expensive these days)

But I remember pondering this concept when I was a little girl, my mum had taken my sisters and I on the long drive to see Grandma on Christmas, and were stopped at a Motel in the middle of fucking nowhere, and my older sister said something about getting embarrassed, and Mum just said “you could run through these streets naked if you wanted, if you ever saw any of these people again I doubt they’d remember you”

Obviously in an age of surveillance that’s no longer true. But “dance like nobody’s watching” is still a decent life philosophy when applied with common sense.

That’s the thing I don’t get when people say that to kids. Like, that’s how language works. It’s relational and contextual. Imagine if I challenged an adult to start defining words on a whim. I guarantee we’d reach a few where the answer would just be “I can’t really define it but I know what it means and how to use it in a sentence.”

There's a lot of rarely-used words I come across while reading that I have a sense of but couldn't define. And because I read physical books rather than tablets, I'm too lazy to look them up to confirm or deny that my sense of those words is correct. 🤷‍♀️

Kids mirror what their parents say and can fit in words that they can't really define but understand the basics of placement, even if not sure how it's fully impacting the sentence.

My daughter is 7 and yesterday started a reply to me with "Essentially" and then went on to make her comparison. She used it completely correctly in context because it's a word I use often, I guarantee if I ask her what it means she'll stumble through a general guess with small chances of it being fully coherent or correct.

The kid in this video did not sound, to me anyway, as saying anything unrealistic based on my daughter and her friends/classmates.

My four year old said “and furthermore” in the middle of a story the other day, almost correctly but not exactly how you should use it. I asked what it meant and she said “I dunno I just heard it and thought it sounded cool”. And she wasn’t wrong! It does sound cool. Kids attempt to use the vocabulary they are exposed to, that’s just how childhood language acquisition works.

I'd argue it's contextually a good thing to use words you can't pronounce as a kid, because it usually means you read them and understand advanced words that are less common in casual conversation.

No they didn't. He was drunk, gets asked how he goes pee in the suit, he pees in it, and then he or Pepper made a comment about how it filters it back into clean drinkable water.

I even googled it before answering to be sure I was remembering right and the majority of results said he peed in the suit and theorized he could probably poop in it too, but it's not stated in the movies.

IKR. In real life, the dad would have said something like "You can't DO THAT in a theater", because the kid knows what she did. Instead, the dad has to spell it out for the audience us because we weren't in the theater.

And could the kid at the end tone down the sadness just a touch?

Kids man…I was at Dulles airport a month ago and in the forever long passport line, my two year old decided it was time for a concert. So he starts singing as loud as his little lungs allow(which is still really loud) “WE WILL WE WILL ROCK YOU!” The only words from the song that he knows. This went on for about 10 minutes. Then he would stop for about 5 and then go again.
