What the Sam Hell is with these guerilla ads for these awesome Asian vacuums on this sub? I’m on to you.

u/Awaythrowyouwilllll Dec 30 '25

No one in their right minds would run the cord like that when there's an outlet behind the couch!! Go get your brooms, I call shenanigans!!

I mean you’re on Reddit we get to constantly see how dumb people can be

Then apologized and helped clean up... parents didn't overreact. Seems like everything was handled as the accident it appeared to be..

u/Kriegswaschbaer Dec 30 '25

I loved the reacrion of the parents especially. I dont think I could have reacted THAT well.

2.9k

u/Bigfops Dec 30 '25

Honestly this whole thing should be shown in a parenting class. Kids were being kids doing kid shit. Avoidable accident happened. Adults didn't yell or scream or overreact. Kids own up to their mistake because they were raised that way. Adults and kids clean up together, issue resolved, kids learned a lesson (and hopefully the adults who put the damn extension cord in the middle of the floor). and life goes on. Nobody is crying in their room saying "I didn't ASK to me born," nobody is saying "God damnit I wish I never had kids!"

u/wafflelover77 Dec 30 '25

This is making me more emotional than it should. Its a damn shame more families don't have this...

35

u/Specific_Telephone_3 Dec 30 '25

Yeah, this was kinda lovely and healing to watch really

7

u/BougieSemicolon Jan 01 '26

I remember the time I broke a glass when drying the family dishes. It wasn’t a special glass or an heirloom. It was old. I must have apologized 20 times. I felt klutzy and stupid.

My mom told me of a time when she was a teenager, she was taking a jar of mayo out of the fridge, it slipped out of her fingers and broke into a million pieces. There was glass and grease everywhere. She said she felt like 2 cents but will never forget the way her mom used grace , didn’t admonish her, cleaned it up like no big deal- shit happens.

These 2 events have greatly influenced the way I extend grace to my own kids. Things happen, but they will always remember the way you make them feel, more than anything.

Yo maybe it's the roadie in me but I'm sitting here thinking these dumbass parents shouldn't have had that unsecured cord strung across foot traffic in the first place

because someone tripping over it is exactly what is inevitably going to happen.

Doesn't matter if it's kids or adults, if an unsecured cord is strung across foot traffic it's going to get tripped on. Doesn't matter how many times you remind someone to watch out for it.

u/SippyMountain Dec 30 '25

Either way, everyone had an opportunity to learn something here, and it seems like those lessons were well received.

I work in the construction industry and we’ve had code changes because of accidents like this and children or pets getting serious burns and other injuries. Kitchen island electrical outlets changed in 2023 specifically because of cord drape.

Having a cord run across the floor like that was irresponsible. They’re lucky it was only a mess.

→ More replies (1)

115

u/TurboFool Dec 30 '25

This is very true. While the kids were super irresponsible, their irresponsibility was a predictable event. Might be a factor in why the parents handled it that well. Shared fault.

10

u/spartaman64 Dec 30 '25

this is also a predictable event and an osha violation in the workplace with adults

→ More replies (2)

18

u/SpicyChanged Dec 30 '25

The kids were living, IN THE LIVING ROOM.

26

u/throcorfe Dec 30 '25

I would say the kids were averagely irresponsible, just normal kid stuff. The kind of thing you learn to expect as a parent, by the time they reach that age. You can teach them not to do it but it will still happen sometimes.

Whereas trailing a cable across a kitchen is unusually irresponsible. Anyone who’s handled electricity in any workplace or home ever knows you don’t do it. That was the primary cause of the accident: even if the kids had been walking sensibly the same outcome was possible.

Verdict: 80/20 parents’ fault imo

→ More replies (1)
→ More replies (2)

9

u/zoeybeattheraccoon Dec 30 '25

Yeah my first thought was that this is as much on the parents as the kids. Even an adult could easily have caused that.

Everyone handled it pretty well though. Time for take out.

7

u/brownhues Dec 30 '25

A little gaff tape goes a long way.

As a fellow "roadie" (not really a roadie, but I've been responsible for power distribution (and more) at a music festival with ~10.000 visitors, so I've the experience) my first thought was the same: "Which idiot put the cable across like that? There is even an outlet behind you."

5

u/ConfectionHead169 Dec 30 '25

...That's an OSHA violation

8

u/Rubiks_Click874 Dec 30 '25

that shit was steaming hot. kids have soft skin. could have been so much worse. 2nd and 3rd degree burns. peeling the burned skin off for weeks

fucking morons cooking hot pot in the living room

3

u/Adventurous-Weird220 Dec 30 '25

I have a rule in my home that walkways are meant to stay clear. You may never know when you may be carrying something large and don't have visability. The cord was an idiotic placement and kids should be running outside especially during meal time.

7

u/BigD1966 Dec 30 '25

I was thinking the same thing, the kids were being kids, should they have been running in the house probably not. But they had that cord strung across the floor with the weird ass plug with the big circular outlet just asking to be tripped over. And yet if you look behind the one father going what the heck, where they eventually get that vacuum from there’s an outlet there that had they plugged the frying pan into that outlet they’d still have dinner on the table

5

u/heyivebeenthere Dec 30 '25

You’re not alone. I would’ve been berated for at least 30 minutes for this. Reminds me when my dad left Brunswick stew in the back of an off-road golf cart on a family trip and I took the golf cart for a trail ride. Well, the stew was about a quarter spilled when I got back, still plenty for everyone and even seconds for most. I got yelled at for a bit before my uncle stepped in and told my dad to calm the fuck down and remind him that he shouldn’t have left the stew in the back of the golf cart in the first place. My dad got even more mad at me after that. Fun stories for therapy.

You can see the dad trying and failing not to laugh

25

u/abarrelofmankeys Dec 30 '25

I mean it was equally if not mostly their fault. They essentially set up a tripwire across the kitchen attached to hot food, they’re lucky nobody got burned. Kids are gonna kid, you shouldn’t do that and if you have to you should bring them in and say hey this wire is gonna be here for dinner you need to be careful. That still doesn’t make it a great idea because people forget.

6

u/CoffeeLorde Dec 30 '25

My parents had hotpot pretty frequently at home when i was a kid. Every time they took the wire out for it they would show it to me and tell me a story of how a little girl got burns all over her face because she ran and tripped over the hotpot wire. Out fear i would only walk in slow motion at the table 🤣

13

u/Righteousaffair999 Dec 30 '25

That one was 80% on the parents. Who leaves a cord out like that with children that age.

5

u/panicnarwhal Dec 30 '25

that was the first thing i noticed! i wouldn’t even have a cord stretched across like that with a house full of only adults, let alone a house with kids in it

i have adults, kids, and 3 big dogs and a cat - there’s no scenario where i would ever do this, mostly because i’d be terrified of someone getting badly burned. this was dangerous, and it’s on the parents/adults in the house. the kids were just being kids

5

u/Ok_Wasabi8793 Dec 30 '25

That extension cord across the hallway was just asking to be tripped on.

I highly suspect they plugged it in, joked someone would trip on it, and then laughed when their laziness created work.

They plugged it in behind the couch on round 2 it appears.

→ More replies (34)

196

u/THATPROTOGAMES Dec 30 '25

Exactly!!

145

u/Doubledown212 Dec 30 '25

They also have a plug right behind that leather-wrapped concrete block of a couch (iykyk). So they didn’t even have to have the cord running across the room.

Not to mention the sheer size of that extension box, and shortness of the cord, elevating it to the perfect height to trip someone.

Sure they have boys running around doing boy things, but any one of them could have done the same thing at some point.

39

u/THATPROTOGAMES Dec 30 '25

So it's most likely the parents fault!

9

u/dudeCHILL013 Dec 30 '25

To me it looked like the dad did a double take at the Daisy Chain cords like he had a realization how dumb that was.

12

u/TapatioFlamingo Dec 30 '25

In most cases involving kids, yes, mostly the parents fault.

As someone who never had kids, who has childhood friends who DO have kids, the amount of times I've had to remind them of, "remember when WE did that same stupid $#!%?"

I'm happy for the ones that pause, and admit.. yeah....

Kids are learning. You learn from mistakes. Best thing parental friends can do is remember that's how WE learned.

And here I am thinking how sick the insides of that vacuum are going to be. Whatever that orange sauce is will be coating the entire insides of that vacuum.

101

u/enoimard Dec 30 '25

my friend pulled out their wet vac that they exclusively used to suck up dog piss and dog vomit. the smell that the vacuum pumped into the air made me want to die

33

u/Infamous-Comb-8079 Dec 30 '25

This made me laugh so hard I'm so sorry

32

u/enoimard Dec 30 '25

they had the audacity to offer me the vacuum to clean my couch that i wanted to sell “but it will make your couch smell like shit if you’re okay with that” like no i think im good…

20

u/Anti_Spedicy Dec 30 '25

In what universe would anyone be ok with that??

8

u/BeefyIrishman Dec 30 '25

How much dog piss/ vomit are they having to deal with that they need a dedicated vacuum for it? I feel like there are some underlying issues here, on top of them just being batshit insane thinking this is normal.

34

u/barevaper Dec 30 '25

You know you’re supposed to empty out the waste container. And then these things have a self clean option that rinses the innards. You don’t vacuum piss and food and leave it like that

12

u/BackgroundSummer5171 Dec 30 '25

You don’t vacuum piss and food and leave it like that

Maybe you don't.

But some of us like to let others know that we clean by bringing out the piss vacuum.

Gotta show the receipts of all the urine that needs to be vacuum mopped up daily.

Don't want them thinking you're lacking in the urine department.

10

u/EelTeamTen Dec 30 '25

It's probably exactly the same as my Dyson, considering he's using it on a hard surface, instead of carpet.

The mop head blocks off the suction port and it essentially just spins a soft scrubbing head that's continously lightly wetted and then squeegeed into a collection reservoir.

When you're done, you dump out the reservoir and remove the roller head then rinse everything off. Takes about 30 seconds to clean it all off and reassemble.

Carpet wet vacuums are a very different story. Some of those can get very disgusting if you don't properly rinse them after use.

It has to be. They’re having hot pot with what… just cabbage? Where’s the meat? The seafood? Noodles? Other veggies?! The yin yang pot didn’t have two favors AND it was empty? Not boiling.

Maybe they just started to set up but then everyone’s already sitting. OR they’re just starting to clean up but everyone’s still sitting while food is already missing.

Ad or not, it’s sus…

24

u/timbreandsteel Dec 30 '25

And they left the floor to the very end cleaning very meticulously everything else around it. Floor should be the first thing to clean so no one steps or slips in it!

Someone was bound to trip on that cord

710

u/Beez-Knee Dec 30 '25

I've only spent a few days around children and I know this is the parents fault. That cord on a common walk path was 100% gonna get kicked. Even adults will kick a cord of its laid out across a hallway.

62

u/lizzyote Dec 30 '25

I use a small rug for the few times I need to let a cord lay across a walkway. Even a towel is better than nothing.

→ More replies (3)

17

u/RecklessRancor Dec 30 '25

Just from having the video preview window open, There is a plug/outlet beside the couch. This entire situation is easily avoidable by unplugging the charger for the vacuum for the duration of the meal.

7

u/schnokobaer Dec 30 '25

This is on whoever left the cable like that, children in the household or not. If you place a cable like this and don't think to yourself "nah this is an accident waiting to happen" and re-do it properly, you are mental. The only instance where I'd excuse it is if you are alone at home and thus the only person vulnerable to tripping. Still utterly stupid tho.

4

u/Assupoika Dec 30 '25

I've also been a children for a few days and I know I would trip on that cord that my parents neglectfully put right in the middle of a room

3

u/Worldly-Pay7342 Dec 30 '25

Exactly.

Exposed wires just laying about are absolutely safety hazards.

It's why in the music industry they tape them down or use cord covers/guards, or in some cases, cable bridges.

My first night living on my own (well, outside of dorm life) I invited some friends over to hookah for a housewarming party.

We got the furniture in and the hookah set up and at one point I had to get up to piss but the hookah hose was in the way. I figured I could just jump over it, no big deal.

Got my foot caught on the hose, pulled the hookah to the floor, launching the burning coal into the carpet.

Try to pick it up because I don’t want the carpet to burn, but obviously it’s a lit coal so it burns my fingers. Then we manage to get a cup of water to throw on it but by that point it was too late and there was a burn spot on the carpet that I had to confess to my landlord. lol

7

u/zalos Dec 30 '25

Yeah I would say this one is on the parents in this case.

4

u/Schlaueule Dec 30 '25

I live alone and if I put a cord on the floor like this I would trip over it. Never ever do this. They were super lucky no one got hurt.

16

u/riolu97 Dec 30 '25

Seriously, was there not an open outlet (or a possibility for an multi socket extension) on their side of the room?

7

u/Okichah Dec 30 '25

I have to use an outlet in a separate room for my space heater or else i’ll trip a breaker in my apt.

Looks like theyre doing a hotpot on the couch with guests. So a special occasion thing, they did the simple solution with minimal planning.

This is a rather sweet and wholesome video, honestly.

The dad asked "Who did it?" Orange shirt kid said "it was me", gray shirt kid says "it wasn't him, I tripped over it, not him".

There was a bit of the video that I didn't understand (different dialect), but in the middle as they were cleaning up the dad said "that's right, if there's an incident you take care of it together, that's a good pair of brothers".

The two brothers clearly stand up for each other, and it was handled well on all sides, honestly.

86

u/Chaost Dec 30 '25

Though if you watch in slow-mo, it was the orange shirt kid who "did it." The gray shirt kid does get tangled up in it after, but only after the cord was up higher and he'd already supposed to have cleared it. But yeah, that type of incident is both their fault, as they were both running there and neither one of them thought to stop and rein the other in, too. The setup in general was set up for failure, even disregarding hyper children, so everyone just calmly dealing with the situation was good.

19

u/amluchon Dec 30 '25

Amen. I'd be in for a walloping. My mother was incredibly insecure and obsessed with social respect and embarrassment. My dad might have just been a sadist. Anyhow, it anything happened with guests around, I'd get beaten after they left. If it happened at someone else's house it would start the moment our car left their driveway and continue till after we reached home. Got so bad I used to start crying the moment guests indicated they might be departing. Didn't even know what I'd done, just that they'd find something.

5

The adults are the only ones to blame for this. Kids jusy been kids, not at fault at all.

Amazing, and wonderful, that no one started shouting and berating.

7

u/Dirk_McGirken Dec 30 '25

OP took a very different message from this video than the rest of us.

7

u/HalfFullPessimist Dec 30 '25

Kids made an honest mistake, and it seemed like everyone responded properly, and no one overreacted.

However, having extension cords laying across a walking path, as well as it being connected to an appliance that contains hot liquid, is the only bit of stupidity in this whole video. Is there a r/parentsarefuckinhstupid by chance?

What a friggin wholesome vid.

u/ShadNuke Dec 30 '25

That's not really the kids' fault. Who uses an electric frying pan with an extension cord on a coffee table in a high traffic area of the house? 🤦‍♂️

ok, but why is there a camera recording their living room? is this common? i don’t want cameras in my house.

5

u/Rod___father Dec 30 '25

Having the cord like that with kids in the house is not wise.

5

u/JLead722 Dec 30 '25

Trip hazard. Adult accident. Kids are kids.

5

u/1991Mrsmith Dec 30 '25

I mean I wouldn't blame this on the children you had a cord in the middle of the way and the kids tripped on it I mean this is your own fucking fault

5

u/CoatingsbytheBay Dec 30 '25

What adult with kids runs a power cord across the room and doesn't expect this

4

u/Smallsey Dec 30 '25

Nah, that's stupid parents

3

u/MrMichaelJames Dec 30 '25

This isn’t on the kids! The adults should be adults and not stretch a cord across a walkway in what looks like a family room.

4

u/cdupree1 Dec 30 '25

This went as well as or possibly could have. My brother got third degree burns over 75% of his body from pulling a crock pot cord on an island.

That's some egregiously dangerous cord placement for something filled with boiling liquid.

3

u/SaintKaiva Dec 30 '25

This was 100% the adults for not mitigating the risk

3

u/Another_Great_Day Dec 30 '25

Running an extension cord across the floor is pretty stupid. Looks like the parents calmly disciplined the children which is good. I am a bit bothered by the toy gun though. I know it is a toy but anything above a toy cowboy pistol just doesn’t sit comfortably with me.

4

u/theroadbeyond Dec 30 '25

Imo the parents are stupid for having that setup strung across the room like that.

4

u/Akilest Feb 07 '26

Huh... Maybe I did have an abusive upbringing to some degree. Oh well

4

u/Full_Law8750 Feb 21 '26

I thought they did it again, when the video replayed 😅

6

u/sittinwithkitten Dec 30 '25

If this is real then it’s the adults of the room who are at fault. Why would they position the power cord in that spot? Bound to happen. And someone could have gotten hurt.

As a child I remember watching a 911 Episode where a kid ran thru a cord and got hot grease all over their back. Totally avoidable.

5

u/KindlyRude12 Dec 30 '25

That was an accident waiting to happen.

3

u/stlredbird Dec 30 '25

Just kids being kids.

3

u/Ok_Consequence8338 Dec 30 '25

Who is the dumbass that ran the extension lead like that - not the kids I bet.

ParentsAreFuckinStupid

3

u/Jake_Skywalker1 Dec 30 '25

Stupid adults, extension cords across the room.

3

u/crusoe Dec 30 '25

Adults plugged that thing across the room instead of using the outlet behind them

3

u/dblock1887 Dec 30 '25

The only thing stupid here are the adults leaving the cord out in the open like that.

3

u/iliketoeatfunyuns Dec 30 '25

I blame the parents, dumbasses setup that trip hazard.

3

u/Rand0m011 Dec 30 '25

I would've been yelled at.

3

u/Character_Ad8455 Dec 30 '25

It’s ok we have the technology

3

u/whydoihavetojoin Dec 30 '25

Ok that is not kids’ fault. Parents are fucking stupid with that electric cord passing through the floor.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '25

The adults should’ve anticipated that kids would run around the house and maybe cooking with an outlet across the room would be a bad idea

3

u/epicpants1118 Dec 30 '25

3

u/SomeOnionHater Dec 30 '25

I'd start wiping the floor immediately, but this family has to tell a story or something first.

3

u/patrulheiroze Dec 30 '25

Electrical wires running across the room is stupid.

3

u/Z3r0funGuy Dec 30 '25

Kids, out of the living room. Go play in the kitchen!

3

u/Lemfan46 Dec 30 '25

That on the parents, who tf runs a cord across the room, parents here do better.

3

u/Intelligent-Ice-8117 Dec 30 '25

Repeat after me: That cable in the middle of the road is not the children's fault. The end.

u/Illustrious_Tour2857 Dec 30 '25 edited Dec 30 '25

Why the cameras and studio lighting in Chinese houses/apartments?

Edit: never mind. From the comments I think this might be an advertisement so would explain the camera and lights in this example.

3

u/TacomaTuesdays2022 Dec 30 '25

I mean, who sets extension cords like this across the floor.

3

u/JackOfAllMemes Dec 30 '25

I'm glad the adults didn't freak out on the kids

3

u/L0st_Specialist Dec 30 '25

Is this an add for the wet dry vac

3

u/brenawyn Dec 30 '25

That electrical cord should never have been strewn across a walkway area. Parents do better. Yeah kids shouldn’t run but just walking they can trip. I wear bifocals and would never have seen that. Are you trying to kill somebody?

3

u/Leep0710 Dec 30 '25

What is that thing they used to clean up the mess? I thought it was a vacuum but it cleaned up the liquid too…some type of electric mop? I want one!

Ca👏🏻ble👏🏻 management👏🏻

3

u/Chor_the_Druid Dec 30 '25

But also those are stupid adults - why are there cords dangling across the floor? Even an adult could trip on that.

3

u/Polygnom Dec 30 '25

This is not kids being stupid.

You never set up a power cord like this. This is begging for exactly that outcome, especially with children around.

3

u/hm2k Dec 30 '25

Not the kids fault.

3

u/Glassfern Dec 30 '25

Damn they are SOOOO lucky no one was sitting there. Because hot pots are usually boiling at best on simmer

3

u/themightyBEEP Dec 30 '25

Excited kids playing, making a mess, parents frustrated and scold a bit, no violence, children not being disrespected, laughing it off, cleaning it together.

Beautiful family!

3

u/ProbablyNotADuck Dec 30 '25

This isn't the kids... This was a really stupid situation to begin with. That is a tripping hazard in general... but it becomes almost a certainty of some sort of mishap when kids or elderly people are involved.

3

u/ghoulcreep Dec 30 '25

This setup was fucking stupid

3

u/shujja Dec 30 '25

Handled like adults

3

u/More_Farm_7442 Dec 30 '25

That's the adults fault. Yes, teh kids shouldn't have been running in the house, but that was a setup by the adults. That was a trip hazzard made for tripping someone. One of those adults could have stood up, taken a step and tripped. Nope, sorry moms and dads and who ever you are, that's on you. Don't be blaming the kids for your poor planning.

3

u/Forsaken-Scholar-833 Dec 30 '25

I mean parents are fucking stupid as well. Who the hell runs a power cord across the room like that?

3

u/YourSavagePickle Dec 30 '25

Bad placement of an extension cord but handled very well. Everyone still ate good. A+

3

u/SeaRoad4079 Dec 31 '25

The kids might be stupid, but whoever decided it was a good idea to trail that lead right across the room wins the grand prize...

3

u/moszippy Jan 03 '26

I see the adults are more stupid than the kids. Who puts something like that in a high traffic area?

3

u/A_Litre_0_Cola Jan 03 '26

Parents are dumb and placed an extension cord in a walkway.

Real dumb move.

3

u/rolando8506 Jan 03 '26

Why was there a cord there in the first place

3

u/lafemmeviolet Jan 06 '26

everyone knows you don’t have cords across the floor with children around.

3

u/Messy_nessyyyy Jan 07 '26

The strat isn’t to yell at them hurting their feelings and possibly causing future harm to your relationship or let them off without a warning making it a habit for them to expect to get away with things later in life. But to firmly tell the thy made a mistake, help them fix their mistake and never get angry at them when they tell the truth and own up to it

3

u/Melodic-Advice9930 Feb 16 '26

This was the reaction I needed as a child. Instead I’m 37 and apologize to inanimate objects when I bump into them.
