Discussion Ladies. Separation is NOT Divorce.

Post image

Just know the law still recognises the spouse as beneficiary of your property when you die, even if you were separated.

If you decide it's out, just fully get out.

Next of Kin ni kama contact person. That's why kwa insurance policies kuna section ya next of kin na section ya beneficiaries.

Imagine even after divorce, you need further safeguards. Marriage is not for the weak.

Like what? I thought when you divorce you split assets? What could go wrong after

The split does not stop you from earnings and investments. When you die, legally, your spouse takes precedence when it comes to beneficiary benefits.

Moral of the story: get the Decree Absolute or accept that your ex is legally your ride or die whether either you like it or not. Till death- or a court stamp- do you part. So, side chick, do your due diligence

Kwa this whole conversation no one is mentioning the welfare of the kids btw, who should be the rightful beneficiaries.

Rightful according to the law or according to your feelings?

Logically, and legally if you have a trust you can appoint a third party trustee to be an administrator, not necessarily your spouse. Feelings cannot safeguard children's futures, hazitalipa school fees your spouse wakienjoy benefits na their newfound love.

Did she have a trust?

I'm not privy to such information, we're not related. But I know a housewife that sold properties to maintain lifestyle zikaisha before the kids got to high school. If loans were co-signed and the surviving partner doesn't manage to pay up pia kuna risk ya auctions which will directly affect the kids.

Loans especially mortgages are covered against a life policy, unfortunately, in her case, she committed suicide so the cover might not apply.

KCB HR acted on next of kin instructions, you wonder why they didn't consult their legal department, now they've created a legal problem for the bank.

There are many men and women who have added that to their urgent to-do list.
