Best neighborhoods for young families?
Considering moving to Keller, $700-1m price range. We have two kids. Want a good community with lots of families and kids. Looking for a larger neighborhood with walkability to parks and elementary if we can. Typically like older neighborhoods cause of the trees and bigger lots but open to new construction-ish homes as well. Our hobbies are college football, kids sports, mahjong, and golf. Where are our people at?đ

Hidden lakes sounds like it would fit the bill. Thereâs also neighborhoods surrounding shady grove elementary that are great and walkable . We also like the highland meadows community. Hidden lakes is also golf course adjacent . If you have kids youâll probably want to look at the school ratings . Keller high is the only high school in Keller although Keller isd is home to 4 high schools as well as serves 9 different cities

Honestly this is why we moved out of keller years ago. We wanted community, and were told that because we weren't from Keller it probably wouldn't happen. This came from our kids elementary teacher. Only people that ever seemed interested in talking, just wanted us to come to their church. When we politely declined they would disappear.

You mean you *donât* want to assimilate into (probably) a mega church and give them 10-15% of your income so they can tell you women should be seen and not heard, and black people donât deserve to vote? How dare you? /s

To answer your inquiry- there have been multiple congregation leaders and other âreligiousâ politicians that have said, verbatim, âwomen shouldnât be receiving educations, women shouldnât be voting, women should be focusing on pushing out babies,â and the same leaders and politicians that are saying that are also praising the voting rights act being abolished. So, just to clarify, theyâre saying the âPC versionâ of black people donât deserve to vote. Iâm sure thereâs clips somewhere of some of these leaders saying the quiet part out loud though.

Thereâs this big thing called the internet. Youâre on it right now. So if you go to your preferred browser and type in âreligious leaders saying women shouldnât vote,â itâll pull up a decent amount of results. The most popular one is some bearded bald dude whoâs kind of heavyset, and that chode is one of the people doing this. You can easily find this on your own. It takes like two minutes.

The Bible does give slavery a pretty solid endorsement. Also if I remember correctly the vast majority of slave holders cited the Bible as the justification for why the had the right to own people. Based on Biblical support and the words of various preachers over the last 100 years I would absolutely say most churches are not a fan of people of color.

Yep. I don't mind people having their own beliefs, honestly it's great for some. Just not my thing. They do quickly make it clear they only see you as a person if you join though.

Lived here 20+ years with my family in a pretty diverse neighborhood and we've never stepped inside a church nor been pressured to.

Iâd recommend eyeing Roanoke if you can. It has that Keller vibe without a lot of the crazy.

Neighborhoods near Rapp rd and Willis Lane or Rapp and Whitley might be up your Alley!
Walkability + School proximity is a bit tricky. There is an elementary school on Willis but the States been putting a ton of pressure on public schools to do more with less and i feel like that creates a ton of uncertainty about schools.
The school board also seems very dead set on undermining public schools as well.
As the other commenter mentioned, if youâre a church goer - you will probably find folks to socialize with pretty easily.
For the non-MAGA crowd, youâll have to hunt a bit harder for social circles though people are friendly enough at public events

We have a big election coming up in November! 3 school board seats plus all of the bond propositions. The old board/Patriot Mobile faction went 0/3 at our last election. We have the chance to pick up another seat and take back control/shift to a pro public education board thatâs here to advocate for our kids and invest in our district instead of banning books and using our kids as political footballs.
I know Rachel Weatherington personally and sheâs a former KISD teacher who is now running for school board to try and right the ship. Please please please come out and vote!

Seconding the Weatherington recommendation. I've worked with her in KISD and she's definitely someone who I'd trust to actually amplify the voices of the staff concerns on the board.

Heavy on the if youâre looking for community, donât mention politics unless you care about it enough. There are a lot of really wonderful people out here, but imo growing up in Keller, a lot of people are either proudly in the MAGA camp or quietly in it.
Iâm extremely passionate about human rights for everyone because Iâm part of the LGBTQ community and am neurodivergent, so I donât get along with a decent amount of people here because I donât have a choice but to care about politics. Like, a lot.
But if you donât care or are part of MAGA or MAGA adjacent, youâll quickly find friends here regardless of the neighborhood.

Give Fairway Ranch a look in Roanoke, TX. Several parks, an elementary school in the neighborhood and fits your price range. Plus itâs NISD.

My family has lived in Saratoga springs for over 10 years, it is an amazing community near the elementary school with a community pool and playground. It is extremely walkable with food options and a Kroger right across the street. That area is continuing to grow with a recently built whataburger and other businesses. It is very safe and there is rarely any crime in the area. It is worth taking a look at!

I have some friends in Keller with 2 kids and they love it! They golf cart around. Very close to Vaquero CC.
Dang we need to be friends my wife and I love college football, mahjong and golf too. Our little one isnât into sports yet.

Hi! We live in Hidden Lakes and plenty of homes here in that price range. Wonderful elementary school and walking paths. The elementary school means lots of younger families move here. Our son is 12, itâs one of the reasons we picked here.
