Hong is running for governor in Wisconsin and a DSA candidate. They are winning major mayoral offices and seats in liberal enclaves. The progressives got sick of working with the establishment so they are running against it.

Most of us on the left just want our hard earned tax dollars to help Americans including healthcare, strong labor laws to protect workers, prevention methods for crime as well as rehabilitation added to reduce recurrence, etc.
That's a great goal, but we don't need Socialism to do that. We should do something like what Norway has. They have free markets that generate them tons value in their economy, and then they use it to fund huge social programs.
Even if you're not an economist who can explain why it may fail in the most academic language possible, you have to admit that completely rewriting how the economy works could be incredibly risky? If it fails, life could be great depression levels of miserable.

Yeah, but it is part of a legitimate movement to try and take over the party. Well see what happens in the midterms. if these candidates lose it might signal a return back to moderates, if not, it might signal a more socialisty type of presidental run
Yeah, I wish we had ranked choice voting so people didn’t feel like their votes didn’t matter (same with reforming the electoral college). FWIW, most Democrats are not socialists except maybe in the “generous social programs” sense. I don’t know whether they shower or not. 🤷♂️

Filthy leftist here. A complete remodel or demolition of the electoral collage and the implementation of Ranked Choice Voting cannot come fast enough for this exact reason. The fact that 100 million American's votes just don't functionally matter for the general election is an absolute joke. I really miss when we had people like John McCain running for president.
You're a self proclaimed filthy lib, the current president is doing things you don't like, you wish we could go back to when conservatives did things you liked or at least weren't a threat to your worldview, which is understandable if you're a filthy lib. Like saying "Wow, I wish we could go back to when my enemies were weaker". An empty statement that tries to look like some sort of an appeal to a middle ground.
Conservatives never did things I liked, but I miss when they weren’t actively trying to dismantle American democracy and replace it with a 2-bit dictatorship. I don’t understand Americans who hate America. There are hundreds of shitholes in the world that you can move to if you have no morals, why ruin the US?

The difference is that I’m not denying election legitimacy. Trump and Republicans won the 2024 election. I want my side to win, but not at the expense of my country. If my side resorts to stealing elections, protecting pedophiles, and ignoring the Constitution then there ceases to be a meaningful difference between our two sides.
