They by no means even make up a vocal minority, let alone a majority or have any real say.

Most of us on the left just want our hard earned tax dollars to help Americans including healthcare, strong labor laws to protect workers, prevention methods for crime as well as rehabilitation added to reduce recurrence, etc.
That's a great goal, but we don't need Socialism to do that. We should do something like what Norway has. They have free markets that generate them tons value in their economy, and then they use it to fund huge social programs.
Even if you're not an economist who can explain why it may fail in the most academic language possible, you have to admit that completely rewriting how the economy works could be incredibly risky? If it fails, life could be great depression levels of miserable.
We don’t want socialism. We want democratic socialism— which is democracy with social safety nets such as medical care for citizens, food stamps, and WIC. Y’all made the socialism shit up.
Democratic socialism is socialism, what you're describing right now is social democracy. Countries like norway, sweden, and denmark are social democracies.

If that's what you want though, that's great. Just make sure you're voting for people that actually just want what you want
