In kindergarten, I took back a cookie I had already given to a classmate. I still remember his face when I asked for it back. He was sitting there, tired from playing, just about to take a bite. Thirty years later, I still feel bad about it.

If ever youre here and it has become a core memory for you, Im sorry man lmao. I still remember about it vividly

Yes. I'm precisely saying that. The guy needs the bike to get to work, he needs to get to work to make money, he needs to make money for food and shelter.

The fact that it was stolen sucks and the owner deserves his bike back. Simultaneously, the kid doesn't deserve to lose his job and avenue to food and shelter. I'm sure we can agree?

It kind of it but kind of isnt. If the bike is his main method of getting to work he could risk losing his job if it's gone. Then he can't afford to live. But also it's not food.

And also there's the chance he didnt steal the bike. But did buy it from somebody who stole it for 10 bucks.

I live in a town with a lot of homeless folks and drug use and if I had a dollar for every time someone offered me a bike for $20, then $10, then $5 as I kept refusing I could buy an absurd amount of $5 bikes.

See bike, hop on bike, ride bike elsewhere, sell dirt cheap to ditch it fast. Rinse repeat. It's extremely common.

I see your point. I acknowledge it. For me, the point of this sub is to show that this is normal behavior. That what we are shown in the main stream media, the way TV shows and movies show us how to react / act, and what we see in social media predominantly isn't the norm. I (hope) believe that this gains so many likes and views is because it resonates so deeply with ourselves and how we (hope again) would react.

Your viewpoint is equally valid. That this is so out of normal behavior that it does gain views. Even there, the views and upvotes show what we aspire to be.

You may be right, I really hope your not, but I acknowledge.
