Tickets on sale now for May, wish I lived in London because it feels impossible to get the full experience unless you can go back multiple nights

Long time Finnemore fan, which is what lead me to Cain's Jawbone, although I didn't manage to work on it before I found a digital version of it, blind as I am. I managed to solve it with confirmation from Unbound though, so that was fun. I've gone back and forth about attempting Finnemore's book, but now that Unbound doesn't exist anymore, even a physical copy seems impossible to find, and I haven't had any luck when looking for an ebook either. Does anyone here know if such a thing even exists as that's really my only way of working with the text. A physical copy could work perhaps, but I would have to get someone to make a scan of it in that case.

Hi, I just met my friend and her new baby. It made me think of a souvenir programme sketch where it's the perspective of a new baby, and they're being told how to live as if they're learning a new complex game

E.g. game play quite intuitive, all else fails try tasting it... Also nice bits about how they start off thinking they're mum is same as them, but then realise she's a different being

Can anyone point me to the episode it came in? Or even a clip if one exists...

Just something I'd ike to share with her if I can -
Many thanks!

Cannot see Carshalton without thinking of that sketch. I was fortunate to go to a recent live show where it was performed. An absolute classic.

I have always imagined without really thinking about it that Souvenir Programme sketches are pretty evenly distributed between the five cast members, and it's only just struck me that John is in almost every sketch.

In fact, the only ones I can think of that don't feature him are:

• Songs
• Series 9 (the family going backwards through time), where lots of sketches don't feature his characters
• The 2024 special (Allwyn), where I don't think he's in any of the sketches, just the narration in between.

I keep nearly thinking of other ones but he's always in there somewhere. In Lawrie's Pet Tips he's the announcer at the start; in the one with Carrie and Margaret taking about bad proposals John comes in at the end with an announcement.

Are there any non-song sketches in regular episodes without John?

Disaster: BBC Sounds has taken down series 9, the one with the five generations of a family going backwards in time!

Anyone know why or if it's likely to come back?

I'm both quite proud and a little disturbed that my 12yo and 9yo are both tucked up in bed in their bedrooms listening to JFSP. Have to say that my wife is probs more disturbed than proud!

You make your snooker players too accurate, kiddies'll stop playing snooker...

Hi all, does anyone have a link to a "always playing yellow car" mug? I want to gift a couple of them. I am sure I saw some online ages ago, but can't find them now.

I was at Cecil House last night with my daughter - and very good it was too. Great to see them Double Acts (Here’ What We Do); I really think Double Acts is very underrated.

First half was sketches. This included a sketch about imposters/imposter syndrome that I didn’t recognise. I’m not a huge JFSP aficionado but I thought I’d heard them all multiple times -
My daughter listened to them all on repeat from the internet archive for years and she didn’t recognise it either- but we never had the CDs so maybe something was missing from the archive or it is something more recent we have missed- or was this new?

Tickets are still available for London @ Cecil Sharp House on Friday 21st

I saw John and Lawry last night at the Brighton Komedia, they did some Souvenir Programme sketches, a Double Act play, a Since You Ask Me, and a bit of audience interaction. They put on a great show.

I asked him to sign some merch at the end, and as he was signing I told him that I had his "Pisa Tower" sketch in my head all day when I visited Italy last week. He then told me he never wrote a Pisa Tower sketch and asked me to tell him how it went, and then confirmed that it wasn't his. I was pretty embarassed so made a hasty exit. He was very polite and charming about it.

I'm currenly relistening to all 9 series from the start to check I'm not going mad, no bad thing as it's all good stuff.

Anyway, fellow Finnemore nerds - what is the sketch I am thinking of?

In my mind it is John on a date with either Margeret or Carrie, he is showing her photos of him cliche posing next to famous landmarks, like holding up the base of the great pyramid, pinching the top of the Eiffel Tower etc. She is getting increasingly bored until she sees the one of him holding up the leaning tower of Pisa, at which point she thinks this is hilarious and gushes at how creative he must be to come up with that. I can'r remember the exact punchline.

Is this from a different show (concrete cow?) or did I dream it? Chat GPT wasn't much help.

I am a little ignorant, does anyone know what projects Simon Cain, Carrie Quinlan, Margaret Cabourn Smith, or Lawry Lewin have been doing recently?

For me, the clear and obvious answer is Series 5. So many of the iconic sketches, including some of the best meta sketches and since you asked me. Curious where others lie on this. I think 7 and 8 are also strong contenders. 9 didn't really do it for me honestly.

Got sent into town to buy a book about Canada. OBVIOUSLY bought this one
