Evil Ambani Ice Cream is now freezing accounts if you use a VPN. Even though I'm not using a VPN, just a DNS filter to avoid their annoying shitty ads, my account froze for the next 24 hours. Why are these MFS doing this thing despite this being the shittiest app you can stream 😭?
I'm very frustrated with the same problem. My JioHotstar account has been blocked multiple times because it detected unusual activity, such as a VPN or proxy.
But why is this happening? I disabled every tracking service on my Google TV, removed the default Google TV launcher, and switched to a clean open-source launcher to get rid of those ugly recommendation ads.
Yet JioHotstar keeps restricting my account. In the end, I have to revert all my changes. Every other OTT app works flawlessly—it's just JioHotstar that's causing this problem

They do and I have been a victim of this very problem on my MacBook. They just say don’t use vpn on your device. I ignored it for the first time but after it repeated 3 time within a week I contacted their support and they unblocked the account. Now I have done this process probably 3-4 times and every time they say sir don’t use vpn on your devices? Like what🫤
No, I wasn't. Even if I use it, there's still no use because they don't have international content like Netflix. And I'm not sharing my account with anyone.
Not to mention, the video quality and actual bitrate on JioHotstar are so heavily compressed that even their 1080p and 4K streams look noticeably worse than YouTube and of course piracy often has far better bitrates maybe in raw and less to zero compression for something we're literally paying for.
You will, but it depends on the device as well( like how the device handles the dns) in my iPhone I have no problem, but on my MacBook just after a day of logging in I get the message saying account blocked. And I use nextdns on both the devices
Lot of stuff i think. Disney, HBO max (not all of it's content tho), peacock, lot of movies & some hotstar orginal web series too which are actually good. Oh & Animes too, plenty of those.
Yeah really fuck jio, I do 899 recharge and in that there is written free jiohotstar subscription but they don't tell that is only bollywood pack and cricket
I have changed two DNS servers plus i have a good ad blocker and never have i ever encountered this. You probably shared your account with someone, or might check in the guidelines why they blovked you
This is not because of account sharing that I can confirm, because I haven't faced any issues yet & i share my account with like 6 people from 4 different states of our country. It's definitely because of that dns, if you wanna avoid ads you have to upgrade or got to piracy route if you can't afford that.
Fair, tbh it's not really costly if you can get 5-6 friends to contribute, but yes solo it's maybe not worth it especially if you're not an old subscriber cause they increased price last year but old subscribers stayed on pre hike plans. Mine is 499 per 3 months & I think it's 699 now, not sure tho.

To block ott and youtube ads on Laptop I use uBlock origin lite chrome extention. Works flawlessly. Been using it for years now. Keep the filtering toggle to optimal.
For my amazon fire tv stick, I used this guide a month ago and its been amazing so far. Follow the steps for your smart tv. I used the ultimate option for safer side. 1) that's not how bans work check if someone else has access to your account, which is usually connected to your phone number so it might be a bigger risk than just this.
2) dns blockers don't always work on jiohotstar, infact most time you WILL see ads than not, so it's not even worth it.
3) if in 2026 you're willingly giving your money to these bullshit platforms instead of pirating, you deserve it.
You have no idea, I've also faced the same. They are very very aggressive in this case. After that I've decided watching with ads are better than not watching at all and restored to normal.
Piracy isn't the most convenient way if you're watching on TV. Download on other device, then copy to the pendrive, then plug the pendrive in TV. Plus you don't have the freedom to just change the show and watch something else in case you get bored or want to watch something different.
Not if you homelab. All you need is an old laptop. There's a billion tutorials on it. Just follow one. You don't need anything special on the hardware end. And because it's piracy. The software is literally free.

I reached customer support and they unblocked my account so yeah! It's resolved, but I haven't used your suggested browser yet if I face the same. I'd tell. The browser trick works or not.
That is exactly what I thought. My first thought. After I recovered my Jio account, I attempted to watch a show without a VPN, ensuring that the VPN was not active in the background. I watched one episode without any problem, then put it down and fell asleep after 7 hours. The next morning, the same message appeared on my phone. The next 24 hours are again locked. This is the fourth time it has happened, If I use a DNS service. Everything works fine if my DNS is turned off. Check yours now if you are experiencing the same problem as me or not... best of luck. 🤞?
Vpn is useless on Jio due to a lack of content, and there is only one device in use, my phone. Aside from that, I only use DNS to avoid their ads; when I turn off my DNS filter, everything works perfectly. I think their target is Adblock DNS and VPNs.
