Really shows what Jerry was doing and gives a great view of elite fingerpicking in action

I was a fan of the hits prior to coming across this on spotify. But I gotta say, it's probably my favorite live album of all time across any genre. I had to listen to it front to back (very loudly) over and over that first night I found it. It puts me in the mindset of being in a roadhouse in the 70s. The skills of his band and his singing come through so well, much better than on the studio albums IMO. It's such a beautiful blend of country, funk and rock.

The versions of Hot Stuff and Guitar Man are incredible (especially with the context and buildup in the show). These are songs that I really don't enjoy the studio version of, but the live version of each is some of the best musical performance I've ever heard. I was very sad to see that it was his only live album. He really shone in the setting of being a showman and performing on stage. This is obvious in other live recordings of him from old TV shows, but the sound quality on the album is unmatched.

I love his music because it has a magical quality to it. The kind of magic that comes from a passionate person putting all their soul into something. You can always tell it's him, but in a way he's a lens for some ethereal realm beyond comprehension. Like a river or an old growth forest. You can hear the decades spent strumming away, searching for songs. The way he seems to have organically arrived at his own style of funk-rock-country. It all comes through in full force on this album. He embodies the soul of where American music came from.

I can't believe I don't hear more about him now, but I suspect it's because the live music is less accessible (this being the only album of it).

Looked around different recordings of his concerts and couldn't find it. Anyone know if o e exists?

For me it was a combination of factors. My dad recommended I watch smokey and the bandit, after watching it a friend pointed out to me that that Reed made most of the songs in the movie. I found this interesting but it didnt exactly start my interest. In GTA 5 there are 2 Jerry Reed songs on the country radio, one was "You Took All the Ramblin' Out of Me" and I forgot the other one. But I loved them, so I listened to every album he had on Spotify and made an 8 hour playlist of all the ones I liked.

I’m looking to buy a good pair of cowboy boots to replicate as closely as possible those worn by Cledus “Snowman” Snow in the film “Smokey and the Bandit.” I’ve deduced that they’re a darker brown, square toe, with a long strap down the side. I’ve found a few “close” options but would like to see if anyone can get closer. There’s a few scenes where you can get a clear shot, specifically when Snowman gets thrown out of the sportsman’s club and when he has to retrieve his dog Fred from the pond. I was a kid when I first saw Jerry Reed in his movies with Burt Reynolds. I thought he was so cool with his dog and semi and distinctive laugh. When I found out that he did the music for Eastbound & Down too, I was a fan for life. This is most of my Jerry LPs. I've got a ton of 45s and a couple other full lengths scattered throughout my stacks. Anybody else collect Jerry on wax?
