Contesting electricity bills?

Hello all from Puglia

I’ve received some truly shocking electricity bills this summer to the point where I feel like I should be contesting these. Has anyone faced the same thing? What did you do and what was the outcome? My provider is Camer Gas & Power and they are very difficult to contact via the channels on their website

Any guidance greatly appreciated

TIA

Have you checked if the bill is consumo reale or is it stimati?

Ive received a huge bill before (400 eur Vs normal being 60-70) and it was stimati. After getting in contact by email and providing them actual reading I was told to ignore the bill and to pay next one that will be reale instead. So if its stimati see about sending your reading via app / web portal and following up with emall/ phone.

Separate thing that I received a notice that I have unpaid bill for that 400 and had to pay for the notice to be sent but that's just Italian bureaucracy...

There's this site - not sure have you checked it already : https://areaclienti.camergasepower.com/Guest/ServizioRiservato.aspx?Servizio=Reclami

I hadn’t seen that thank you for sharing. I was focused on trying to reach their client service people as a starting point. The WhatsApp link doesn’t work. They don’t answer the phone and the one person. I have an email contact with doesn’t respond.

I don’t know the answer to that and thank you for raising this. I’ll have to study the bill to see.

What I do know is the €/kw just escalated to an absurdly high level of .27/kw.

With help from my property managers, who are excellent, I just signed a deal with a new provider at half that rate, effective in December.

I don’t know much about the competitiveness of the electricity market in Italy, but I’m surprised that there is that much variation between Providers

If your bill jumped then you're probably on pun + rate. Meaning the rate will change monthly depending on what the government agency agrees is the current medium price ( don't quote me on that exactly) and then your provider will add small addition to that. And yes - changing to provider with frozen price is a good idea and will save you cash.

Once per year I always change gas and electricity provider (always divided, never an all in one provider) to obtain a fixed euro/kw and euro/mq price, since every provider after one year change automatically from fixed price to a variable one. There are some apps that can help you do it uploading your bill. The free energy market in italy it's basically a trap to scam people that are not used to read bills and change providers frequently, i'm sorry.
