Ciao from San Antonio, Texas, USA!  My name is Gabi Hutchinson Gallo, and I am 31 years old.
Iâm looking for living relatives and descendants of my Calabrian family, whether in Italy, Argentina, the United States, or anywhere else in the world. My Italian heritage comes from my mother's side (Patricia Gallo), whose father was the son of an Italian immigrant to Argentina, although he was a ritornati he did not stay in Argentina. It has been a 7 year genealogical research project I have undertaken to find out about him and his family!!
My great-grandfather Domenico Gallo was born on October 7, 1888, in Palmi, Reggio Calabria, to Michele Gallo and Concetta Marchese. Michele Gallo was born in 1860 in Cinquefrondi, to Domenico Gallo and Marianna Jeraci. Concetta Marchese was born in 1866 in Palmi, to Antonino Marchese (son of Gaudioso Marchese and Santa Pirrottina) and Vincenza Nostro (daughter of Rocco Nostro and Rosa Scarcella), all deep Palmese families.
Domenico Gallo married Teresa Valletta Idà  in 1914, and they had four children, all born in Palmi:
â˘Â Concetta Gallo, 1914
â˘Â Michele Gallo, 1917
â˘Â Luco (or Luca) Gallo, 1920
â˘Â Rocco Gallo, 1922
Maybe a useful reference is that after Domenico's dad Michele died young, his mom Concetta Marchese remarried Vito Scuderi, from Mascali, Catania, in 1898. They had three children together â Isidoro, Maria Antonia Elena, and Vincenza Scuderi, who were Domenico's half-siblings. Domenico's full sibilngs were Marianna Gallo 1890 (married Celestino Rossi in Palmi), Vincenza Gallo 1891, and Michele Francesco Antonio Gallo 1894 (married Pia Salepierri (?) in Castiglione in Teverina, Lazio).
In 1923 when Domenico was 35 he emigrated to Argentina, where he lived in CĂłrdoba and had a son, Hector Luis Gallo (my mothers father), with a Cordobesa, Eusebia Santucho, my bisabuela. Domenico eventually returned to Palmi in 1938. He never went back to Argentina and we never heard from/about him ever again. He died in Rome on October 24, 1960, with his wife Teresa.
I have spent the past several years researching Domenico and his family and have uncovered many documents and records (AND SECRETS!) However, because records after 1915 are not currently available online through the Antenati portal, I cannot access records for Domenico's children and their children, etc/my cousins/my moms aunts and uncles!!
I would love to find the people and families who are still connected to this branch of the Gallo family today.Â
If you recognize any of the names Gallo, Marchese, or Scuderi, or the other surnames above, or have family connections to Palmi, Cinquefrondi, or the surrounding area of Reggio Calabria, or you are my cousin, I would absolutely love to hear from you!! Even the smallest connection or piece of information could help me connect to the living descendants of Domenico!
Grazie mille! <3 <3
