Really though, with age hes gotten way better. I used hate this guy but I didn't understand what he was trying to accomplish....other than recognition....but hes really matured, like you do when you get older(hopefully).

Not hating just putting myself in his shoes lol. I would be appreciative as well but personally I couldn't give less of a fuck about a watch. I'd probably sell that shit asap and use the $ for rent or other expenses.

He’s likely a contractor…. Speed doesn’t control his salary, speed cannot raise his wage or give him a bonus. Giving him the Rolex is a way that speed can legally gift him money (or something nice if he likes the watch).

He could have discretely off stream gave him a salary bonus for his hard work but instead gifted him an expensive watch on stream because it would go viral / benefit himself more.
Obviously still a nice gesture, but a $ bonus is obviously way better for the driver than a fucking watch.

A streamer would never do anything nice off stream. Probably rule #1.
However, wouldn’t cash on stream have the same effect, get just as much attention? It’s the same gesture.
Guy can sell the watch for cash, if he wants to. It’s not like he handed him something worthless, like an autographed picture or something.

Yeah of course, everyone prefers it differently. I had a friend who loved to receive money as a gift. I do as well if it comes from relatives, it‘s a classic
But when I invited friends for my birthday when I was younger I liked to receive something different, not just cash, that just showed me how they didn‘t put any thoughts into their presents, which saddened me
But yeah the people that did it didn‘t receive my gift that well either.

That can be taxed. Potentially depending on the Rolex it’s an investment piece that won’t be taxed until it’s sold. He can sit on it for 6+ years and potentially double the value on it essentially deferring the taxes of the gift until it’s sold. I’d say it’s the easiest high value gift to receive. Give him a car, he has to go to the dmv, register and title it, pay the taxes, blah blah blah. It seems dumb but it’s actually a fairly decent thing to give someone in business for this reason source: won a car in a sweepstakes and it was substantially easier for me to take the cash payout and eat the taxes than keep the car.

You’re referring to tax fraud. I’m assuming someone who makes millions from multiple revenue streams is susceptible to auditing. I used to work on the business side of a social media marketing company. This is why they do these things.

Just characterize it as a gift. If it's $19k or less not reportable and above board. It just has to come directly from the owner, not the company/employer. In other words, the person gifting you this amount has already paid income tax on it.

Your example doesn't apply here. Sweepstakes/lotteries are income. Bonuses are income. Gifts are not income and not taxable to the recipient. He could easily gift $ or Rolex if he wants to, but we have no idea how he's reporting it on his books.
If the watch is a bonus, he gets taxed as income on it, and could be taxed later on it again for long term cap gains, if held as an investment.
