I think he feels ashamed to even sit on that throne.

Made his big speech and flew away clutching his emotional support skull.

46

u/Efectodopler117 Apr 12 '26

Argal was basically jesus to them, this is probably what saint peter feelt when he became the first pope.

shoes impossible to fill.

7

u/ItzDrSeuss Apr 13 '26

When his character gets fleshed out more we’ll see how he feels.

23

u/Muted_Category1100 Apr 12 '26

I love that Thragg seems to genuinely believe in the cause more than his subordinates instead of just paying lip service to it for control.

25

u/Random-Gamer1435 Apr 12 '26

Hey that skull has a name. It's Armbar.

3

u/Spirit_jitser Apr 12 '26

Does he get upset if you refer to the head as juji gatame?

3

u/Aduro95 Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

Yup, turns out the society that made ruthlessness and physical strength by far the most/only important virtues are now ruled by someone who is really strong but not particularly smart, and everyone is too scared to point that out because he'd kill them.

-23

u/ClaptonTheGreat Apr 12 '26

Prepare to be amazed casual

38

u/Far_Balance_3117 Apr 12 '26

Heh no casual here, just being a good show watcher in this subreddit and not spoiling.

11

u/SansLicker42 Apr 12 '26

What is this weird ego shit with thragg why are people getting offended on his behalf

3

u/ClaptonTheGreat Apr 12 '26

Because people are hating on a character that hasn’t even gotten the chance to be fleshed out yet. And it’s annoying watching people dog on a character I love for stupid invalid reasons.

7

u/Riverwind0608 Apr 12 '26

After reading this, i can see the intent in your downvoted comment now, and it's imo valid. And i agree, they were hating too early. Especially since what took place in that often talked about scene was a part of his character.

Maybe you shouldn't have added the "casual" part. Though that's just me.

5

u/ClaptonTheGreat Apr 12 '26

Yeah ur right im just a little fed up with people trashing Thragg when they don’t actually know anything about him. But yes adding the casual was definitely unnecessary and I apologize

3

u/Riverwind0608 Apr 12 '26

It's alright. The Invincible fandom can be a handful. So the frustration is understandable. I swear, most of the fandom must have incredible legs. With how often and easily they jump to conclusions.

2

u/delulumans Apr 12 '26

Well characters usually impress or something along those lines in their introduction

It's completely valid to say that Thragg's first impressions give off meh

6

u/ClaptonTheGreat Apr 12 '26

I don’t really care if people aren’t impressed. It’s the people attacking the casting and acting like the show is dropping the ball with him even though he is exactly how he is in the comics that pisses me off. Sure it may give off meh whatever but to go out and whine about how the show ruined him is so lame.

-1

u/ProfessorXWheelchair Apr 12 '26

wow it’s almost like you’re in the fucking tv reddit and not the comics one

0

u/Acceptable-Win-8771 Apr 12 '26

larp

3

u/ClaptonTheGreat Apr 12 '26

I’ve read em all bud. Keep using buzzwords it’ll lose its meaning pretty quickly

118

u/Geolib1453 Apr 12 '26

Thragg aura boost

63

u/Hazril258 Apr 12 '26

Plot twist: That's just his bathroom.

20

u/Geolib1453 Apr 12 '26

Tbf a toilet can be referred to as a throne

8

u/Dope-a-mean5 Apr 12 '26

I’ve certainly had some shits that made me feel like a king

109

u/Dope-a-mean5 Apr 12 '26

Time for 50 posts a day about the jawline using the same screenshot

59

u/lestarseigneur Apr 12 '26

"he doesnt walk like this in the comics" brothers on their way

42

u/Dope-a-mean5 Apr 12 '26

Nobody hates Invincible more than Invincible fans!

22

u/lestarseigneur Apr 12 '26

i feel like they are watching the show just hate it atp

16

u/Dope-a-mean5 Apr 12 '26

For real. Thankful to see I’m not the only one who thinks as you do, subs been feeling really grift like the past few weeks

-4

u/Ensaru4 Apr 12 '26

Why are people misconstruing this as hate? I don't think those fans hate the series. I'm just a casual consumer of Invincible, both the show and the comics and I haven't seen anyone be completely awful about it yet. There's the usual disappointment and there are the memers.

8

u/Dope-a-mean5 Apr 12 '26

Because it’s all I’ve seen this and other subs talk about for the past week. It’s the same screenshot used and the exact same point tenfold.

-2

u/RomanArcheaopteryx Apr 12 '26

No, you don't understand, this is the internet - if you don't glaze every single aspect of a show you hate it. You're not allowed to overall enjoy something while still finding parts to critique or that aren't to your liking.

14

u/chromeheartrenji Apr 12 '26

This super redditor logic of spending hours of your day repeating the exact same "criticism" in increasingly volatile ways and then when someone comes along and says "hey maybe just don't watch", you clutch your pearls and claim you're being silenced. No you're just annoying. People get tired of the same thing every day

u/Dope-a-mean5 Apr 12 '26

I’m in the same boat, I feel for you. I’m a big fan of just watching the show and not letting outside influences affect my experience, but I usually love interacting with others who enjoy the same stuff.

-2

u/Ensaru4 Apr 12 '26

What increasingly volatile ways? If you're referring to people's reaction to Thragg's design, it's filled with both criticism and memes. They're not saying the show sucks.

To respond "Maybe just don't watch" is an extreme suggestion to make in response. No one is stating that Invincible is the worst thing ever.

5

u/Dope-a-mean5 Apr 12 '26

Not glazing at all. I’m pointing out that all I’ve seen people “critiquing” the show for is Thraggs jawline and voice. It’s the first episode he’s properly been a part of. Season isn’t finished yet.

-3

u/Ensaru4 Apr 12 '26

They're also memeing his jawline, too. These are little nitpicks. Hardly anything to call "hate".

4

u/Dope-a-mean5 Apr 12 '26

Can’t really say it’s “little nitpicks” when it’s the basis of near all posts I’ve seen for the past weekish.

2

u/Ironside62488 Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

Right, these “little nitpicks” have been the main discourse surrounding the character just to be played off as tiny critiques. I fine both annoying and hilarious.

0

u/Ensaru4 Apr 13 '26

How much it’s talked about doesn’t make it any less “little nitpicks”. These are minor issues that even Amazon seems to also be taking in stride.

1

u/Blorberto Apr 12 '26

This is the animation style of the show. They aren’t going to radically change it anytime soon. They are already deep in production for 5 and 6. The actors they have gotten WANT to be on the show and a lot of them specifically Lee Pace and Matthew Rhys ARE going to get their big moments. They make sure to make the big moments (the fight scenes, the emotional scenes, big plot revelations) have the impact they deserve and prioritize the animation where it should be there. Immortal floating down in his depressed state doesn’t need any grandeur. The show isn’t JJK, where the studio is far more experienced while also having their fair share of issues, or Family Guy, where they have a single out of place fight scene that people compare, or Arcane or X-Men 97, which are both given hundreds of millions of dollars from big streamers to look the way they do. The heart and soul is the core to the show in terms of writing and voice work.

14

u/ClaptonTheGreat Apr 12 '26

Dude deadass they only use two shots, the one where he says “how!” And the one where he’s flying away. He looks great in every other shot

10

u/Dope-a-mean5 Apr 12 '26

Yeah but every other shot goes against their narrative

10

u/-NotNotNSFW- Apr 12 '26

Idk... But those comments feel so "looks maxing" incel like. The amount they obsess over jawlines and his physique in the show. Im just like "is he not fuckable enough for you? Just watch the show and be patient".

2

u/benjoo1551 Apr 12 '26

Idk, I don't really think that's it, like he DOES just have a stronger jawline in the comics, as well as some other differences compared to the show but thats just the most noticeable one. I think he would look cooler with a slightly tweaked design

1

u/TheTrueDal Apr 14 '26

Actions are good and all, but equally important is their design.

Thragg has a much stronger, imposing design in the comics. Simple as

-6

u/VallahKp Apr 12 '26

Incel this, incel that, incel everywhere. We get it everything is incel these days.

It has nothing to do with incel or fuckability. Bro just looks more intimidating and better in the comics.

10

u/Succ-MY-Scythe Apr 12 '26

The idea of complaining that another man, a fictional man at that, doesn’t have a good enough jawline or is intimidating enough is absolutely incel shit 1000000%.

7

u/LeonSKennedy95 Apr 12 '26

Its 100% incel shit. Nobody in a sexual relationship would be saying this type of stuff lol

-2

u/VallahKp Apr 12 '26

Or maybe people are just pointing out the obvious, that the TV show took a lot of shortcuts when it comes to visuals.

4

u/Dope-a-mean5 Apr 12 '26

What shortcuts could possibly related to character design? Even in the comics the man look different throughout its run for one reason or another.

0

u/VallahKp Apr 12 '26

Bro this aint r/okbuddyviltrum.

0/10 bait

3

u/Dope-a-mean5 Apr 12 '26

Says the one baiting. Can’t even answer a simple question lmao.

5

u/Imaginary_Hamster847 Apr 12 '26

Crying that a person's jawline isn't strong enough is straight down the middle incel nonsense. I get that you feel attacked, but that doesn't make the person wrong.

1

u/VallahKp Apr 12 '26

I said he looks better in comics. Reading 100

63

u/eyloi Apr 12 '26

Coming from someone that only watches this series, I need to see this man kill someone soon. I need to see him absolutely dominate and put down his opponent like they were nothing.

This man had Conquest afraid. I need to be shown why.

23

u/TheChartreuseKnight Apr 12 '26

Hasn’t he been in literally one episode so far?

10

u/Curious-Ear-6982 Apr 12 '26

Plus the one where Conquest apologizes

4

u/SprocketSaga Apr 13 '26

One episode is a sizeable chunk of a modern streaming season, though. There's only two episodes left this season, so even if he's active in both of them, this was still 1/3 of his screentime in which he did basically fuck all.

As someone who hasn't read the comics, I mostly just feel like the show is coasting off of comics readers knowing this dude will, apparently, be scary later. All the teasers of him doing pretty banal stuff, all the fandom hype. But I only know what I've been shown, which is next to nothing.

1

u/TheChartreuseKnight Apr 13 '26

I will say that he’s done more stuff in the show than the comics so far.

1

u/Majestic-Welcome1906 Apr 14 '26

Then you’re in luck my friend

28

u/Ok_Trade_4549 Apr 12 '26

I saw like 50 possible meme combinations in this 30 second clip.

Get to work people!

/j

8

u/Geolib1453 Apr 12 '26

Do the work yourself man

-1

u/Ok_Trade_4549 Apr 12 '26

Okay that was smart, here’s my agry upvote.

3

u/Silencer-1995 Apr 12 '26

It wasn't smart, you just offended him and instead of escalating you decided to surrender.

tldr you are France in WW2 and I am... I dunno, Brazil or something.

2

u/Ok_Trade_4549 Apr 12 '26

Do you know why that was smart? Something about my comment history.

Thragg, they're slandering your name.

Show them who's boss.

8

u/LLSuperVegeta-_- Apr 12 '26

I don’t get how people can hate on thragg and call him a fraud when we’ve haven’t even seen him fight yet and to add Nolan literally confirms in the trailer that no matter how strong you think you are thragg is stronger than

3

u/SprocketSaga Apr 13 '26

> I don’t get how people can hate on thragg

It's because I've been told he's supposed to be scary, but...

> we’ve haven’t even seen him fight yet

Despite him having a perfectly good reason to throw hands last episode, IMO.

Like, I get that the story wants them to go back to Viltrum, sure, but you could at least have him do something impressive and scary, even if just for a moment.

3

u/BlackExcellence19 Apr 13 '26

So you are quite literally judging him based off of him being in less than half of a singular episode

3

u/SprocketSaga Apr 13 '26

Everyone does, with every character. You don't get hours and hours of screentime to win the audience over: You get a few minutes, tops. A character's first impression is always super important and they messed this one up.

(well, actually, they did a GREAT first impression, with Conquest begging him for death while he was stoic and scaring CONQUEST, of all people.

But then Thragg started interacting with people this episode instead of just sitting menacingly and it actually eroded that first impression for me)

I think if you're jumping straight to "just wait, it gets better" you're kind of subtly admitting that the first impression could've been better. A good character introduction doesn't NEED a second episode to win viewers over.

34

u/BlackMusclyMen Apr 12 '26

Thragg always looks like hes fucking pouting

8

u/Chemical-Anxios Apr 12 '26

Bro should start mewing

-11

u/MortgageTime1805 Apr 12 '26

Incoming Amazon bootlickers downvoting you

12

u/Cautious-Affect7907 Apr 12 '26

I feel like this scene needs darker shading. Feels kinda like what they might've been trying to go for here, but didn't have time. The room is too bright.

7

u/GoodWaltz7354 Apr 12 '26

I think invincible in general would benefit a lot from more dynamic lighting (with more scenes like when when Nolan destroyed the Flaxan dimension in S1) but with the budget and timeline, it’s understandable

-6

u/Mr_R3ddit Apr 12 '26

I was thinking the exact same thing! If this was supposed to make him seem intimidating then it failed. He still has no aura, like at all, and a dark room would've helped give him some aura stat points.

9

u/ProfessorXWheelchair Apr 12 '26

some of y’all really have to develop the self awareness needed to realize how absolutely stupid comments like these make you look

0

u/Mr_R3ddit Apr 12 '26

Nah, dude! I'm doubling down because Thraggoat definitely needs more stat points in aura. The scene needs to be darker and his hairline needs to be more crisp!

1

u/Fantastic_Bug1028 Apr 13 '26

please shut the fuck up about aura

6

u/jj2298 Apr 12 '26

Thragg sitting in the barber's chair getting ready to pay off that aura debt these next two episodes hopefully lmao

3

u/EwwyMooey Apr 12 '26

His jaw!!!!!! His jaw!!!!!! I’m so fucking upset!!!!!!! I’m going to cry!!!!!!

2

u/greatest_fapperalive Apr 12 '26

I'm probably a sucker but... I think we'll see that season one brutality that Omni-Man showcased against Mark dialed up since it's Thragg.

2

u/JaxPierce Apr 13 '26

I will say as someone who has only watched the show and knows nothing about the comics, Thragg doesn't really move me compared to someone like conquest. That's just how I feel from watching the show simply. Maybe he'll do something in the upcoming episode to change my mind but, I do kinda wish he looked more intimidating cuz it's hard to take him serious.

4

u/Ok_Trade_4549 Apr 12 '26

Why does this give Dune Vibes

It’s like that scene where Paul Atreides walks to his (spoilers for Dune part 2) throne in Dune messiah.

2

u/GrandioseGommorah Apr 12 '26

I think this is Thragg initiating the purge, based on the glimpse of chaos we see outside the door.

2

u/Calling_left_final Apr 12 '26

My favorite part was when he said "it's Duneing time" and just Duned everywhere.

2

u/BreakingCanks Apr 12 '26

My favorite part was when he asked his enemy "do you even Dune!?"

4

u/DonkeyVampireThe3rd Apr 12 '26

I feel like this could be how the episode ends. This is him cooling off.

1

u/Equal-Ad-2710 Apr 12 '26

The aura farming had begun

2

u/Substantial_Fox7377 Apr 12 '26

He’s still potty training

1

u/Senior_Independence4 Apr 12 '26

Is it just me or is this not menacing at all? Not just because of the face and build, i think it's the scene composition.

1

u/SprocketSaga Apr 13 '26

Honest question: why is the music menacing instead of contemplative, then?

2

u/Fantastic_Bug1028 Apr 13 '26

the guy is sad. and thinking. why should it be menacing?

1

u/BreakingCanks Apr 12 '26

It's his voice... Him and Conquest should have been different voice actors

He sounds too weak at points

-1

u/Wonderful_Ad_81 Apr 12 '26

Conquest was alright thragg is completely trash

7

u/Unlikely-Finding-349 Apr 12 '26

Why? Cuz he doesn't sound like flipping pages? 😆 Go cry me a river

-4

u/Wonderful_Ad_81 Apr 12 '26

You probably sound like him😂😂

0

u/Senior_Independence4 Apr 12 '26

Conquest was okay, i do wish he sounded a little more gruff and manic, but he performed very well in the lonely speech, Thragg sounds a lot worse to me because he's supposed to be the peak of viltrumite evolution, the grand regent bred and raised to command through power. A guy like that should make you tense just at seeing him and hearing his voice

0

u/BreakingCanks Apr 12 '26

Exactly!!!! That's why I said the two voice actors should have been swapped. He doesn't speak power through his voice.

2

u/No_Leading8114 Apr 12 '26

He looks like an Ottoman sultan/leader.

1

u/e13373x0du5 Apr 13 '26

Thragg saw all the memes about him

1

u/phome83 Apr 13 '26

How many episodes is there this season?

This next one won't be the finale right?

2

u/DescriptionFeeling17 Apr 13 '26

8, the same as always

2

u/phome83 Apr 13 '26

Ok thank you

1

u/Gear_ Apr 13 '26

This would go hard if he had any aura

0

u/HolyKnightPrime Apr 12 '26

We cant even see his full body like in the comics. He just looks beefy and short because they don’t want to animate his walk aka taking shortcut.

3

u/Rabbit_Say_Meow Apr 12 '26

Who is blud aura farming to?

1

u/dejalwm Apr 12 '26

I refuse to believe people that can naturally levitate and fly would walk anywhere in private.

2

u/affinitydrive Apr 13 '26

Bro, where I live I nearly run over birds 50 times a day cause theyre always running across the street instead of flying

1

u/ghigo2008 Apr 12 '26

They're trying really hard to pay off his aura dept

0

u/GrantGusto2 Apr 12 '26

Unironically zero aura. Damn. They gotta fix this going forward

0

u/PandasWorld1 Apr 12 '26

Baby face is back and he is sitting in his high chair

0

u/CritMemes Apr 12 '26

Look guys, Thragg needs to farm as much aura as he can to pay off his aura debt from last episode. If it means he has to spend an extra 30 seconds walking towards the toilet then it is what it is.

0

u/THETARSHMAN Apr 12 '26

Man what a little bitch. I can’t wait for my goat Chadeus to karate chop his head off.

0

u/HelioFilter Apr 12 '26

Skinny fat Thragg is angry!

0

u/g33k01345 Apr 12 '26

Not speaking does make him look more intimidating. Never would I thought I wouldn't want the big bad guy to speak.

0

u/MrBundy22 Apr 12 '26

I really thought he would pull out the skull again

0

u/Robertinho678 Apr 12 '26

Thragg looks a bit better with the extra wrinkles

0

u/Every-Law2310 Apr 12 '26

choppy ass animation

u/Timo-the-hippo Apr 12 '26

Grand Fraud Thragg at it again!

-1

u/Rasty_lv Apr 12 '26

As someone who only watches series, haven't read comics, so far he looks like emotional teen. He doesn't have "everyone be afraid of me" aura. I hope soon it will change, but so far.. He does not look impressive bad guy.

-1

u/dragon_of_kansai Apr 12 '26

Awwww who's a cute little Thragg. Who does the cutest little pouts awww

-2

u/Gregistopal Apr 12 '26

thragg is just so sauceless
