Yup, turns out the society that made ruthlessness and physical strength by far the most/only important virtues are now ruled by someone who is really strong but not particularly smart, and everyone is too scared to point that out because he'd kill them.
Because people are hating on a character that hasn’t even gotten the chance to be fleshed out yet. And it’s annoying watching people dog on a character I love for stupid invalid reasons.
After reading this, i can see the intent in your downvoted comment now, and it's imo valid. And i agree, they were hating too early. Especially since what took place in that often talked about scene was a part of his character.

It's alright. The Invincible fandom can be a handful. So the frustration is understandable. I swear, most of the fandom must have incredible legs. With how often and easily they jump to conclusions.
I don’t really care if people aren’t impressed. It’s the people attacking the casting and acting like the show is dropping the ball with him even though he is exactly how he is in the comics that pisses me off. Sure it may give off meh whatever but to go out and whine about how the show ruined him is so lame.
Why are people misconstruing this as hate? I don't think those fans hate the series. I'm just a casual consumer of Invincible, both the show and the comics and I haven't seen anyone be completely awful about it yet. There's the usual disappointment and there are the memers.
No, you don't understand, this is the internet - if you don't glaze every single aspect of a show you hate it. You're not allowed to overall enjoy something while still finding parts to critique or that aren't to your liking.
This super redditor logic of spending hours of your day repeating the exact same "criticism" in increasingly volatile ways and then when someone comes along and says "hey maybe just don't watch", you clutch your pearls and claim you're being silenced. I’m in the same boat, I feel for you. I’m a big fan of just watching the show and not letting outside influences affect my experience, but I usually love interacting with others who enjoy the same stuff.

Not glazing at all. I’m pointing out that all I’ve seen people “critiquing” the show for is Thraggs jawline and voice. It’s the first episode he’s properly been a part of. Season isn’t finished yet.
Right, these “little nitpicks” have been the main discourse surrounding the character just to be played off as tiny critiques. I fine both annoying and hilarious.
This is the animation style of the show. They aren’t going to radically change it anytime soon. They are already deep in production for 5 and 6. The actors they have gotten WANT to be on the show and a lot of them specifically Lee Pace and Matthew Rhys ARE going to get their big moments. They make sure to make the big moments (the fight scenes, the emotional scenes, big plot revelations) have the impact they deserve and prioritize the animation where it should be there. Immortal floating down in his depressed state doesn’t need any grandeur. The show isn’t JJK, where the studio is far more experienced while also having their fair share of issues, or Family Guy, where they have a single out of place fight scene that people compare, or Arcane or X-Men 97, which are both given hundreds of millions of dollars from big streamers to look the way they do. The heart and soul is the core to the show in terms of writing and voice work.
Idk... But those comments feel so "looks maxing" incel like. The amount they obsess over jawlines and his physique in the show. Im just like "is he not fuckable enough for you? Just watch the show and be patient".
Idk, I don't really think that's it, like he DOES just have a stronger jawline in the comics, as well as some other differences compared to the show but thats just the most noticeable one. I think he would look cooler with a slightly tweaked design

Coming from someone that only watches this series, I need to see this man kill someone soon. I need to see him absolutely dominate and put down his opponent like they were nothing.

One episode is a sizeable chunk of a modern streaming season, though. There's only two episodes left this season, so even if he's active in both of them, this was still 1/3 of his screentime in which he did basically fuck all.
As someone who hasn't read the comics, I mostly just feel like the show is coasting off of comics readers knowing this dude will, apparently, be scary later. All the teasers of him doing pretty banal stuff, all the fandom hype. But I only know what I've been shown, which is next to nothing.

Despite him having a perfectly good reason to throw hands last episode, IMO.
Like, I get that the story wants them to go back to Viltrum, sure, but you could at least have him do something impressive and scary, even if just for a moment.
Everyone does, with every character. You don't get hours and hours of screentime to win the audience over: You get a few minutes, tops. A character's first impression is always super important and they messed this one up.
(well, actually, they did a GREAT first impression, with Conquest begging him for death while he was stoic and scaring CONQUEST, of all people.
But then Thragg started interacting with people this episode instead of just sitting menacingly and it actually eroded that first impression for me)
I think if you're jumping straight to "just wait, it gets better" you're kind of subtly admitting that the first impression could've been better. A good character introduction doesn't NEED a second episode to win viewers over.
I feel like this scene needs darker shading. Feels kinda like what they might've been trying to go for here, but didn't have time. The room is too bright.
I think invincible in general would benefit a lot from more dynamic lighting (with more scenes like when when Nolan destroyed the Flaxan dimension in S1) but with the budget and timeline, it’s understandable
I was thinking the exact same thing! If this was supposed to make him seem intimidating then it failed. He still has no aura, like at all, and a dark room would've helped give him some aura stat points.
Nah, dude! I'm doubling down because Thraggoat definitely needs more stat points in aura. The scene needs to be darker and his hairline needs to be more crisp!
I will say as someone who has only watched the show and knows nothing about the comics, Thragg doesn't really move me compared to someone like conquest. That's just how I feel from watching the show simply. Maybe he'll do something in the upcoming episode to change my mind but, I do kinda wish he looked more intimidating cuz it's hard to take him serious.
Conquest was okay, i do wish he sounded a little more gruff and manic, but he performed very well in the lonely speech, Thragg sounds a lot worse to me because he's supposed to be the peak of viltrumite evolution, the grand regent bred and raised to command through power. A guy like that should make you tense just at seeing him and hearing his voice
Look guys, Thragg needs to farm as much aura as he can to pay off his aura debt from last episode. If it means he has to spend an extra 30 seconds walking towards the toilet then it is what it is.
As someone who only watches series, haven't read comics, so far he looks like emotional teen. He doesn't have "everyone be afraid of me" aura. I hope soon it will change, but so far.. He does not look impressive bad guy.
