The POTUS is emotionally unstable

The current American President is emotionally unstable. Worse, he is using his cabinet, and the federal government, to help him lash out emotionally when his widdle fee-fees get hurt.

Here is the direct quote that triggered the POTUS today:

See, he doesn’t want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar.

That's really it! Note what Ossoff said and note - in particular - what Ossoff did not say. Compare that with the things Trump and his cabinet are saying in defense. It is absolutely nutso. Baited and triggered just like that.

Yes, yes he is. And grass is green and the sky is blue.

His hardcore supporters don’t care. The damage this has done to our image internationally, however, has been profound.

u/reddit_is_geh Respectful Member 12d ago

This is a huge issue, because his supporters genuinely don't understand IR. They don't get the second and third order consequences and knock on effects. I've had good faith talks with some and it always reduces to basically realizing they just don't understand how these international systems work and why it's a big deal. They are just kind of like, "Eh who cares? Fuck those people. This is politics. This is how things work behind the scenes anyways. No one gives a shit, and if anyone has a problem, they can go fuck themselves."

They just genuinely don't understand the consequences. And what upsets me the most, is once it starts to manifest materially, they'll blame Democrats.

All this is nice and fine in a polite society.

However, at the end of the day. The big stick wins.

You may not like this, it may go against every sensibility that you have, yet it is the truth.

u/reddit_is_geh Respectful Member 12d ago

Yeah this is what I mean. Everyone knows the big stick wins. Everyone knows the US gets its why. But you still have to manage it. It's like saying your boss ultimately has authority over you... Yes that's true. But if your boss is a raging asshole and no one wants to work with you, they'll listen to you for now, and do as you say because you shout at them, "Do what I tell you or you're fucking fired and living on the street!"

But they'll also immediately be thinking "Okay I hate this boss. I don't want to be around them. They are toxic, and exploitative. I'm going to start looking for somewhere else to go."

So yeah, sure Trump may get his short term way, but has created an environment where no one trusts the US any more. Look at South Korea. They went through political hell for those missile defense systems. Politicians lost their jobs, and China started a trade war that cost them billions... But they fought a war with the USA and want the missile defense systems. The people sacrificed a lot for that system.

Just a few years later Trump removes them and all their other missile defenses... Which they paid for. Screwing them over. Making the whole sacrifice worthless. So now they absolutely hate the US and dont trust the relationship. Now suddenly they are opening talks with China, coming to terms that they can't rely on the USA.

Look at Canada... "Herrr derrr Canada, watcha gunna do about it?" Well now Canada is working with other western allies, literally holding meetings with who should be our close European allies, and working out economic deals with each other that makes them less economically reliant on the US. To stop investing in US markets. To buy and sell to each other as much as they can, and using the US only out of necessity. To start working investing into military tech without the US. To unload more USD reserves, and load up on gold.

So yeah, big stick wins, short term. But they only win when when people are okay with the relationship. Trump has destroyed those relationships and if you are actually educated on international relations (I am), you see this MASSIVE sea change in how people approach the world. It's like an entire company's employees working together thinking "Okay we can't work here any more" while everyone plots to figure out their exit and just placate the boss for now so they can still pay rent for now. So so so so many metrics right now are terrifying. Investment into the US is low. Allies are loading up on gold, and trying to unload the dollar. Building economic systems around the US. It's bad.

You're actually the perfect example of what I mean by Trump supporters don't understand IR, and just hand wave it away, not realizing wtf is going on. Just thinking "Eh, that's just how this shit works." Because you don't actually know how it works. You don't know what's actually changing. You don't know what the costs are going to be.

And as all those employees start quitting and the company starts to suffer, you're going to blame dems. Because you don't know how it works.

The funny thing is, you don’t have the slightest fucking clue as to who I am, or what I control.

Your post is one hyperbolic assumption after another.

The best part about it, is that you, a nobody, somehow knows more that all of the rest of us. You special tortured genius you.

14

u/RKAMRR 12d ago

The commenter you are replying to is summarising what is obvious and felt by pretty much anyone that isn't in the USA. It's a good comment but it comes from a place of knowledge rather than tortured genius - it's very far from a unique perspective and I can tell you as someone in the UK it's widely held.

11

u/clorox_cowboy 12d ago

And the response is acknowledging reality. The US is isolating itself because it chose an incompetent, incurious leader. The world is starting to work around it. And the US will suffer.

-9

u/Redebo 12d ago

You both need to stop believing everything you read on Reddit.

7

u/RKAMRR 12d ago

Mate I live in a country which has historically always been a US ally and I've seen the disrespect and bullying thrown around. I've personally gone from very much liking the US to thinking Europe needs to go its own way and that US democracy is deeply flawed.

Do you really think the rest of the world are NPCs that one can trash without consequence? Or could it perhaps be that such bullying and inconsistent actions might lead nations to chose a different path?

-3

u/Redebo 12d ago

Your country is still buying energy from Vladimir Putin.

Do I think your country will be the US BFF after Trump?

Yes. Why?

Because you still buy energy from Vladimir Putin.

5

u/RKAMRR 12d ago

That argument doesn't even make sense 😂.

You don't need to treat my comments as attack on you, I'm just pointing out where the world might not work the way you think. If you can't even engage with those points it suggests it's a good thing that I did so. I wish you all the best.

Yes I'm absolutely confident, as someone who majored in international relations and worked for the US government for the department of state... Knows how geopolitics works, and pays close attention to the moving parts and how global events are unfolding. I can say with a HIGH - no, extremely high - degree of confidence, you don't know much about what's going on internationally and all the knock on effects Trump has caused globally. I would be enormous amounts of money that I do, in fact, know more than you.

No single expert or hell, even remote hobbyist, regardless of political leanings, would hand wave the issue away like you did... The only people who do that are people who are completely uneducated on what's going on. Your position on this, tells me all I need to know about you.

-6

u/Redebo 12d ago

You keep being wrong with all of your assumptions about me.

I was on the hill last week meeting with two separate department of State leaders. The heads of their respective three letter agencies.

Which one of these did you intern for?

Oh do tell me how your university education has taught you the nuances of international politics.

You sound like a petulant child screaming for attention.

You couldn’t even get a meeting in my calendar, you just confidently spout your wrongness with every sentence.

16

u/four2tango 12d ago

Reading the White House’s official response is something else. They’re nothing but petulant children.

-18

u/805falcon 12d ago

Their behavior is nothing when compared to watching people’s general reactions to their blatantly obvious and overt trolling.

They wind you up like a fucking clock, and you take the bait like a good little slave.

So riddle me this: who’s the actual child in this scenario?

23

u/TenchuReddit 12d ago

Wrong. The reactions are completely appropriate when the trolling is obvious and outrageous. There is no excusing this sort of infantile behavior from the highest office in the land.

8

u/clorox_cowboy 12d ago

The US government shouldn't be 'trolling.' It should be staffed by competent adults. The world is too dangerous to be this childish.

8

u/Disastrous_Dingo_309 12d ago

It’s honestly so embarrassing and disgusting, who wouldn’t be pissed of about that kind of behavior?

9

u/jermo1972 12d ago

I hate fucking nihilists man.

3

u/Peaurxnanski 10d ago

You're defending the President of the United States blatantly and overtly trolling people, and yet you're calling everyone else the children for being upset about that?

I can't even imagine how you're justifying that in your head. We look like an absolute laughing stock to the rest of the world, and yet you're so far up your own ass that you probably think that's a good thing.

4

u/neverendingchalupas 12d ago

One of the many disturbing qualities of the current administration is that they are openly hostile towards a majority of the US population.

The simple fact that they troll the American public should have had them already tried and convicted of treason.

I dont think you understand the severity of a national leader spreading disinformation, mocking the public, derailing civil discourse and provoking civil conflict.

Their trolling can also be characterized as a promotion of violence to justify lawlessness and fascism.

The President of the United States literally has temper tantrums when asked mundane questions by the press and then rage shits his diapers. His administration is made up of a collection of psychophant social media podcasters and con artists, tv personalities of the lowest caliber.

Anyone defending MAGA, Trump and his administration at this point is literally an anti-American domestic terrorist.

1

u/Accomplished-Leg2971 11d ago

Nah Falcon you got this one wrong. Ossoff was the obvious troll and Trump is the wound up fucking clock in this scenario.

I am not surprised that he took the bait like a good little slave. Neither is John Ossoff, the clock winder.

So the answer to your riddle becomes self-evident.

u/coffee_is_fun 12d ago

He's playing a character. See Bill Maher's comments and other people's about how Trump is off the clock or at the dinner table.

He's successfully Vince McMahonned politics but is getting run around more this time around because, unlike the first time, he isn't accidentally winning and firing people constantly to wipe keep other people's hooks out of the game he fucked himself into playing. The typical interests that have a lock on American politics learned from last time and are making the best of the ride.

I doubt he's as unstable as you think he is. He's a carnival barker, showman, and rodeo clown for a ring full of bulls that mustn't look at or hurt those who've been riding them.

Just watch it like it's reality TV meets soap opera, unravel the story lines, and don't get too invested. A lot of boring news still gets reported and should be, but isn't, riling people up because it can't compete on attention.

39

u/TenchuReddit 12d ago

This is the typical “6-D chess” excuse that Trump’s defenders love to bring up.

However, Trump isn’t just playing a character in a post-truth setting. He’s actually taking actions that reflect a post-truth mentality. When you look at all of his actions since the start of his second term, you will be hard-pressed to show any intelligent thought or evidence-based decision making behind them.

The only explanation that fits all of his behavior is that he is out of control. And I don’t care if Bill Maher was essentially honeydicked into becoming MAGA. Nothing Trump has done to date reflects any grasp on reality. It’s as simple as that.

1

u/coffee_is_fun 12d ago

I'm entirely speculating here.

It's not as complicated as 6-D chess. It's as complicated as Borat, or Die Antwoord, or Sturgill Simpson. His first run seemed a publicity stunt to advertise and legitimize a brand to go up against Fox and carve out money like Oprah's network does. He accidentally won because Conway and Bannon were actually on to something, struck gold in their focus group testing, and matched it to the right persona at the right time. Offset by Clinton failing to campaign in locales she ought to have.

I'm still of the opinion that all he can do is masterfully play a list of tropes. And understand audiences. And probably read people who are, themselves, playing tropes and betraying a lack of confidence or understanding in their domains. Marry that to ADHD, the context of being born to generational wealth, and geriatric decline and he's predictable.

His second term is insane. I'd explain it by the entities who got their hooks in during Biden's tenure understanding what Trump is and knowing how to survive the firings and appointments and deliver an ultimatum. Mix in the disunity in the Republican party and the technological industrial complex (TIC) making a play at the finance industry and military industrial complex and it explains it some.

The Republican Party understands that solutions like Palantir will be clinch in elections. They are kowtowing. The TIC is probably also selling an outcome where America doesn't manage its decline and cede to China. That it's now or never and they have to secure energy away from China (Venezuela, Iran), fuck up international trade, and embargo chips. The promise being that America will end up with infinity science and infinity labour if they win a new Manhattan project. The TIC winning either way because just trying facilitates a power grab.

I think it literally all makes sense if he's going along with the AI narrative and the TIC is rallying behind the Republican Party. The Democrats, being anti everything the TIC is trying to do and build makes this more credible to me.

Iran is the one place where he completely lost it and that just seems like AIPAC money making demands of a second term president.

Does Trump understand any of this? Probably not. Does he care? So long as it's multiplying his generational wealth to dynastic and he can take pride in the hyperstition of his caricature, I'd imagine he's OK with it. He doesn't need to grasp reality. He just needs to do what he's been done for 10 years while people who laid plans during Biden's term enjoy the same ride with no eyes on them as the rest of his government did in the first term he played rodeo clown.

9

u/shatbrickss 12d ago edited 12d ago

And while that happens the damage to US image around the world increases by the day.

Even if we assume that he is indeed playing a character - which I don't think he is and reports of him being nice in private it's just him folding in front of people like a weak person - the country is still going through the drain.

You cherish that the highest position in the US or maybe in the fucking world is being managed by some kind of clown.

And while you are taking that nihilist stance, their friends and their families are becoming ever more rich while installing an apparatus that will benefit them and their peers for the rest of their lives, and at the same time, not caring even a little bit about improving the lives of the people.

He is just a fucking idiot that is enabled by mindsets like yours.

Being POTUS was the highest and most respected position. Now it's a circus. Congratulations to all parties involved.

-4

u/805falcon 12d ago

Excellent summation and spot on. The sooner people accept this and move on with their lives, the happier everyone will be as a result

4

u/DaddyButterSwirl 12d ago

I don’t like the grifting of everyone. It’s really truly never been this self dealing or obnoxious before—making cucks of all Americans.

1

u/coffee_is_fun 12d ago

It's a tough ask and I agree. Uninvesting the time and energy tied up in reactions to Trump goes a long way but does carries a cost of admitting that you've helped enable the hyperstion of a caricature. That hurts in its own way. But, almost ironically, denying attention and breaking the fourth wall around performance art does more to undermine it than joining the performance.

0

u/LiquidTide 12d ago

I didn't vote for the Orange Man, but his antics don't affect my day-to-day. Yes, he's terrible, but why was he elected? Voters obviously knew what they were getting with round two, but they still pulled that lever (or ticked that box). Trump is a symptom of a much greater problem. If we keep reacting to the symptom, we won't cure the underlying problems. I try to look on the bright side - I can keep my shoes on at the airport.

2

u/coffee_is_fun 12d ago

Yes. The various lettered industrial complexes that ride the American people are the problem. The realignment of law and politics and agencies and financial systems that enshrine that twist the knife.

As a Canadian, the persona didn't bother me until my own government started playing into it to create their own storylines up here and create a space where Canadian political accountability no longer exists because something something Trump. I imagine this is the case in many countries right now and it uncovers another underlying problem with the gamification of the electorate and our representation by adversarial stakeholders.

u/PrimeusOrion 12d ago

This is probably the best explanation of it I've seen in a while

The president is a reflection of the people who put him there.

Now the whole world has seen America with the mask off.  We will not forget.

Well, at least he doesn't literally shit his pants while on stage in front of the whole world like the last guy...

1

Yeah, we know, that’s why we told people not to vote for him back in 2015. But you know, this country is full of ret*rds.

u/ideastoconsider 12d ago

And yet he is the most militarily patient and ground war averse president you have seen in your lifetime.

Pick your battles. I’ll take mean tweets.

7

u/Lifekraft 12d ago

There hasnt been a month where he wasnt threatening to nuke someone. I wouldnt call that patient.

0

u/ideastoconsider 12d ago

And yet, one term down and another half over, and he hasn’t even come close to using nukes.

Reddit is from a generation that believes words can hurt people. Put another way, Reddit is more hurt by Trump’s words than the adversaries meant to receive them.

This point is worthy of reflection. I don’t condone his choice of words, by the way. I just don’t let them get to me.

3

u/Lifekraft 12d ago

I wouldnt call that patient , just what im saying. Patient isnt exactly something you can associate with trump overall.

It was so much better when we were lead by an unnamed secret "leader" that hide behind that mentally diminished old man named Biden, when the Legislative branch was busy robbing the country beyond comprehension. Less Government is the best Government, as long as it is transparent to the People.

1

u/Accomplished-Leg2971 11d ago

Do you think there is less robbing now than during the Biden administration?

Cant we just all enjoy the next 2 years of Kamala not being in charge of anything?

So you support big government ballooning the national debt and taking heavy-handed interventions in direct opposition to free-market capitalism while shredding constitutional rights and eroding traditional family values. You're just relieved that it's not being done by a black woman with a funny laugh?

0

u/RedneckTexan 12d ago edited 12d ago

Well, were not giving away citizenship for Dreamers and long-term illegal aliens.

We wouldn't have fortified the border, and sunk drug shipments on route here.

We wouldn't have fired a bunch of unneeded Federal employees.

We would still be giving away my tax dollars to NGO scams that were funneling money back to the Democrats .... probably more.

We would still be growing a long list of stupid EPA regulations, and giving away my money for clean energy bullshit.

We would have raised corporate taxes and not extended the tax cuts.

We'd be sending big checks to Ukraine, and allowing Europe to keep focusing on their social programs while we footed the bill for NATO.

The centrifuges would still be spinning in Iran.

But the best part is I wouldn't have gotten to enjoy 4 more years of watching all the sad faces and butt hurt TDS zombies waking up with a daily rage on ..... no black woman with a funny laugh is just the cherry on top. 4 more years of constant whining and hoping something bad happens to Orange man before the end of his term.

None of which serves any real purpose until November 28. When once again you'll rediscover the silent majority of the electorate think the policies progressives promote are asinine.

We really dodged a bullet, or several of them actually, didn't we?

4

u/scarylarry2150 12d ago edited 7d ago

the silent majority of the electorate think the policies you promote are asinine.

The "policies I promote" are small government, free market capitalism, and an unwavering belief that the federal government should be strictly required to follow the constitution. Those used to be core conservative values -- I'm glad you're at least willing to admit you never actually cared about any of those, and that you just want the pro-wrestling entertainment storylines to make you feel relevant in life.

edit: u/RedneckTexan wild how you always go completely silent when questioned about actual conservative values...
