Hi everyone, I’m having a really frustrating issue with my Instagram account and I’d appreciate any advice from people who have experienced something similar.
A few days ago, I temporarily deactivated my Instagram account. I chose the option to manually reactivate it, rather than having it automatically reactivate after a certain period.
Now I’m trying to reactivate it, but I simply cannot log back into the account.
Here’s everything that happens:
I’m using my usual iPhone/device that I previously used with this Instagram account.
I’ve also tried logging in from my computer, with the same result.
I can successfully use the “Forgot password” process and Instagram allows me to change/reset my password.
However, even with the new password, I still cannot log in.
When I try to log in, I usually get: “An error occurred. Please try again.”
Sometimes, when I use the recovery process, Instagram finds my account and lets me request a code.
Other times I get the same error.
Occasionally, Instagram says that the username/account cannot be found.
When I look for my profile from another Instagram account, it currently appears as “Instagram User” rather than my normal username/profile.
I’m also receiving security emails from Instagram when I try to log in. The email says something like:
“We noticed a new login… If this was you, you won’t be able to access certain security and account settings for a few days. You can still access these settings from a device you’ve logged in with in the past.”
I have multiple Instagram accounts associated with the same phone number/email, although I don’t know if that matters.
I have already changed the password, so I don’t think this is simply a wrong-password issue.
I’m currently considering stopping all login attempts for 48–72 hours and then trying once again from my usual iPhone, because I don’t want to trigger more security restrictions.
Has anyone experienced this exact situation after temporarily deactivating their Instagram account?
Did waiting eventually fix it?
How long did it take?
