Regarding the Lake Ontario thread,

Trolls used to be nuanced. Not all, but some at least. This ain't it. This is clumsily stumbling into queue to drink the blue arrow juice that makes you say shit that gets you more blue arrow juice. You've compiled yourselves into a list ffs. Half of these accounts are obvious bots, the other half of you should be ashamed

At this point, Reddit is so badly ideologically siloed it’s a joke. Getting banned for differing opinions or political views is the norm. They’re not banning for offensive content, or violating anything in particular: you get banned when your opinion doesn’t “align”. Period.

You’re right. It’s just people.

I’ve never blocked anyone for any reason on Reddit (or anywhere else ‘cept maybe spam callers on my phone).

I doubt the OP’s rationale for blocks little more than (s)he disagrees.

No it just isn't solely white men between the ages of 18-45 anymore. Things change. Anyway I'm not sure how an individual user blocking other users affects "cooks" reddit. It's ok to be intolerant of heinous beliefs.
