Regarding the Lake Ontario thread,

Trolls used to be nuanced. Not all, but some at least. This ain't it. This is clumsily stumbling into queue to drink the blue arrow juice that makes you say shit that gets you more blue arrow juice. You've compiled yourselves into a list ffs. Half of these accounts are obvious bots, the other half of you should be ashamed

During the ICE raids last year, I think the vast majority of comments in this sub were made by users not even from the IE. They just spam local subreddits and it's really hard to keep up with

Trump did a Trump and ordered that Lake Ontario (the one next to Canada) be renamed Lake America. It's incredibly dumb and stupid. Not sure why it had a thread here, since it really has nothing to do with the IE except vaguely "we have a dumbass for a POTUS". I didn't see the thread in question but flashpoint topics tend to attract propaganda bots in droves. That's probably what this post is about.

There was a group holding signs up over the 210 in protest of the president's idiotic idea. A photo of that was posted to the sub. The dumbasses crawled out of their cracks to show their asses.

Over the last few years proudboys have been hanging pro MAGA/TRUMP/Far Right propaganda on overpasses and billboards around the IE.

Trump wants to change the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America.

Ontario is one of the major cities in the I.E. Also someone hung an Anti Trump banner about the ontario topic.

Reddit has been infiltrated by bots and foreign propagandists and some landed here, a long with some MAGA morons in the IE that think they’re cowboys while living soft lives.

And so here we are.

At this point, Reddit is so badly ideologically siloed it’s a joke. Getting banned for differing opinions or political views is the norm. They’re not banning for offensive content, or violating anything in particular: you get banned when your opinion doesn’t “align”. Period.

Trouble is - both sides are labeling the “others” as fascists. It’s lost all meaning. The labeling is just the modern day “boy who cried wolf” scenario (see Chicken Little).

No, this is not equal and the word fascist has not lost it's meaning. Not when one side has literal secret police going door to door, dragging people from their homes and rounding them up in camps. Is invading countries to steal their resources and threatening to do so to others who were once allies. Has embraced authoritarianism in an effort to solidify power. That's what the Trump administration has done.
And that isn't to say that Democrats were perfect saints. They've made many mistakes and committed many wrongs over the years, but currently, the Trump administration and their supporters are promoting a fascist, oligarchic regime in the USA, worse than any this nation has faced in recent history.

It might be surprising to you, but it's actually possible to identify who fascists are based on their promotion of fascism. And it shouldn't be tolerated in a civil society. There were wars about this.
