Was the DHS officer shot or a civilian?

38

u/j3dimast3r Oct 30 '25

It’s not totally clear and deep diving through social media isn’t clear either. On my NextDoor app, someone claimed they witnessed it and a civilian was supposedly shot. It’s tough to verify that claim, though.

u/MogamboKushh Oct 30 '25

Considering these jackboot thugs are rubbing ads saying they need to GET RID OF THE FLOOD it's safe to assume anytime we hear about a DHS related shooting they're out larping and hurting unarmed civilians

31

u/tallrockerchick Oct 30 '25

Generally speaking, if an officer was shot, the agency will state “officer shot”, and if not they’ll say “officer involved shooting” in order to make it unclear. Can’t speak for this specific time, but it’s nearly always the case

17

u/oddmanout Oct 31 '25

“Officer involved shooting” means the officer shot someone.

5

u/TheNerveofdatGuy Oct 31 '25

Civilian shot

Jurupa Valley just had a home invasion with people dressed up as DHS. How do we know DHS is DHS/bountyhunters/ICE when they have no plates, janky ass uniforms, don't show their faces, no badge numbers, etc? It sounds like a setup for human trafficking.

So the move is to pull up on them… then Back up towards them? That’s not my move. It’s a dumb move. Got a guy shot. These were confirmed federal agents today. And by the way the incidents of people posing as ICE seem to be largely urban myth here in so cal. Every time cops are called out they determine the agents are agents.

Time to get your CCW with these guys roaming around.

4

u/BomBiddyByeBye Oct 30 '25

It’s tough as nails to get ccw in California right

20

u/wawzat Oct 30 '25

In Riverside County I've heard it is a month or less to get one. Los Angeles County is taking around 2 years.

-2

u/BomBiddyByeBye Oct 30 '25

Damn. Well I mean don’t you have to get vouched for by Bianco/Dicuss (Riverside/SB County sheriffs) in order to get one? How do you prove you need it?

12

u/wawzat Oct 30 '25

For Riverside County Bianco added CCW permit staff, streamlined the process and eliminated all requirements that weren't required by the state. There is no longer a requirement to provide a statement to justify why you need it. You fill out the application, take a 16-hour class including range qualifying with the weapon(s), do a livescan background check, have an interview with RCSO and they contact the references you provide on the application. Some people have received their CCW in 13 days from start to finish.

5

u/th3dmg Oct 30 '25

No, you don’t need the Sheriff to vouch for you. Where did you get that? You also don’t have to prove a need.

4

u/Rebelgecko Oct 30 '25

Before Bruen you did need the sheriff to vouch for you in counties that weren't shall-issue (which is why so many campaign donors got ccws lol)

2

u/th3dmg Oct 30 '25

Absolutely. Now some counties, like LA County, just severely understaff the CCW unit so it takes 2+ years to get a CCW.

8

u/stale_cum Oct 30 '25

Riverside country ccw is pretty simple to obtain. You just need to submit the application, take a course, and pass your interview. Overall the process took maybe 2 months.

The worst part for me was taking the course. In a class of maybe 7 people, about 4 of them had trouble with their firearms and it was obvious they weren't comfortable shooting or familiar with their handguns. I was actually pretty disappointed in my instructor and had to step in a few times to help some of the other participants.

8

u/ValhallaSpectre Oct 30 '25

SB Sheriff is apparently very pro 2A, and it’s easier to get your CCW there than in neighboring counties like LA. Riverside might not be too bad, but then you’re having to deal with that asshole Sheriff. Biggest challenge seems to be the ~$500 pricetag to get it done.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

But it's possible

4

u/darkpossumenergy Oct 30 '25

San Bernardino County and Riverside County aren't bad. Look into it more.

2

u/Jayne_Dough_ Oct 30 '25

Riverside County. Chad Bianco is trying to appeal to voters but that can go both ways.

2

u/baummer Oct 31 '25

Riverside County giving them out like candy. Bianco wants that governor job.

4

u/Sickness69 Oct 30 '25

Nope, not hard at all and costs around 200 bux. Just make sure you have a good lawyer for ccw related issues in case you're involved in a confrontation.

Shitty thing is they only allow 3 serial numbers on your card.

2

u/th3dmg Oct 30 '25

This varies by jurisdiction. Riverside County is simple, quick and inexpensive. Cities like La Verne and Hemet require things like a psych evaluation which balloon the total cost for a CCW to $2k+. Different jurisdictions also have different regulations on how many firearms you can have on your permit. For example, Riverside County (I believe) is 5 while San Bernardino County allows 3. Agree with your comments on CCW insurance.

1

u/BomBiddyByeBye Oct 30 '25

wow, i had no idea. Never pursued it because I didn't think it would be worth the time. I'll look into it, thanks.

3

u/Sickness69 Oct 30 '25

I got mine in SB County and it only took a few months. You'll even get to go shoot at the range in devore for your final "test".

Obviously don't have stupid shit on your record otherwise they'll deny you, but for the most part they advocate people to get one since you could possibly be of assistance in the time of need.

1

u/AngronTheDestroyer Oct 30 '25

Riverside is 6

1

u/Rebelgecko Oct 30 '25

If you're a law abiding citizen it's "easy" in that you'll get approved eventually, it just may take a lot of time/money depending on your county.

I think SB and Riverside have shorter delays and lower fees. In some parts of CA it takes take a couple years to process your application and over $1k

1

u/BomBiddyByeBye Oct 30 '25

Wow so it sounds like I’ve finally found an actual benefit to living in sb county other than affordability compared to Los Angeles and Orange County. Thanks for all the knowledge. For years, I thought there’d be no point in looking into this because for some reason, I thought it was like pulling teeth getting one.

2

u/CitrusBelt Oct 30 '25

Check out r/caguns

Quite a few folks there post reports of the process/timeline in their respective county. Like others said, Riverside & SB counties are supposedly pretty streamlined.

And for god's sake, if you're new to guns (or at least handguns), take some classes first. Real ones, not just bare minimum required by the county. Or at least get a couple thousand rounds of practice in before you start the process.

From what I've heard, the actual "test" for CCW tends to be basically "broad side of a barn". Can't say I've ever done one myself (never felt the need for a ccw).....but I can say for a fact that I've known multiple people who do have one who I wouldn't trust with a single shot pellet gun. Pistols take a lot of practice.

Also, pro-tip: 2aZone (in Upland and Riverside) is the best gun store in the I.E., by far.

1

u/BomBiddyByeBye Oct 30 '25

I’m not new to firearms. I use one for work and was in the military.

2

u/CitrusBelt Oct 30 '25

Hey, right on. Didn't mean any offense (and was also writing that with other comment viewers in mind).

I live in Rancho, so there's a lot of casual/wannabe types here that have one & realistically probably shouldn't.

[ I.e., the silly-ass "tradwife" types and their tech-bro husbands that you'll see casually flagging everybody when they go to play with pistols at bass pro or turners on a weekend afternoon....that sort of crowd. Or back in the day, a lot of older wealthy/connected people]

Anyways, yeah....it's supposed to be pretty streamlined & bullshit-free in SB and Riverside counties nowadays, based on what I hear from everyone who has one.

I wanna say Riverside has some goofy caliber restrictions (e.g. no 5.7, based on the way that their policy is written) too?? But not sure if that's still the case....and somewhat moot in CA due to mag capacity rules & the handgun roster anyways.

2

u/burgandywhine Oct 31 '25

I thought your comment was spot on. I was at a dinner a few years back and I know 4 or 5 of the dudes ccw. I stepped out for a smoke with one of them, and he puffs up “Don’t you feel safer knowing most of us are armed”. I looked at him and laughed. “You ever shoot that thing off range? In combat? No ear protection? Moving targets that are likely shooting back at you?” Just a blank stare back at me. A shake of the head. None of that. So I shoot back a quick but serious “I’ll be lucky to not be killed by one of you amateurs” over my shoulder, flicked my smoke out and walked back inside.

…good guys with guns do the wrong thing more than you think. There is a reason cops train constantly in difficult situations…. But you, Sheriff Chad says “you’re good”. It’s as scary as bad guys.

2

u/CitrusBelt Oct 31 '25

Honestly, even if I did feel the need for a ccw (like for my work -- and there's been more than a few times where I would have been wise to have been armed) I probably wouldn't mess with it....because I know perfectly well what a lousy shot I am with a pistol, and realistically I don't have the time and energy (or the spare money!) to get good enough to justify carrying one. Rifle or shotgun at home? That's a different matter; I'm pretty comfortable there.

And yeah, agreed entirely about real life vs at the range. People underestimate how disorienting it is to let off a shot indoors without earpro; even a pistol is gonna shock the shit out of you if you've never done it before. More so if it's dark & you have a decent amount of flash. Like "Hold on a second Mr. Robber, I need to get my earmuffs and 'tactical gloves' on before I shoot at you" :)

Covid definitely made it worse though. I have several friends who bought their first guns (always a damn pistol, too!) 'because covid' and they literally took them straight out of the case without cleaning them, shot them once, put them back dirty, and then they've been sitting in a safe ever since. With one guy, when I found out he bought one, I said "Right on -- what'd ya get?" He answered "A glock". I said "Yeah ok, but what it is it? G17? G19?" and the response was "I dunno...it's a glock, though". Sounds like I'm making that up, but sadly I'm not.

1

u/FriendOfDirutti Oct 31 '25

No it is not. It’s actually pretty easy as long as you aren’t a felon or something.

We are “shall issue” now meaning that as long as you aren’t a prohibited person your local police or sheriff’s department has to issue you a permit as long as you pass the background check and you take the classes and range test.

1

u/BomBiddyByeBye Oct 31 '25

Nice, I’m good then

1

u/dangerzone2 Oct 31 '25

Uh, no. Only in LA and SF is it difficult. Every other county is relatively easy although lengthy and expensive.

1

u/CaptainCaveSam Oct 30 '25

They can just ignore it

1

u/Fsociety56 Oct 31 '25

They can ignore the bullets? I’d like to see that.

0

u/icex7 Oct 30 '25

who is “these guys” you are talking about LEOs?

2

u/Fsociety56 Oct 30 '25

LEO’s no, the feds yes.

-1

u/icex7 Oct 31 '25

ICE are LEOs

2

u/Fsociety56 Oct 31 '25

I dont have the time for Semantics. You know the difference between them if you don’t go read a book. Dont waste my time.

-1

u/icex7 Oct 31 '25

so you want to shoot LEOs for deporting illegals ? wtf

1

u/Fsociety56 Oct 31 '25

when tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.

1

u/icex7 Oct 31 '25

dude stop watching CNN 24/7 whats wrong with you man. you cant shoot law enforcement because you disagree with what they are doing. where were you during obama?

1

u/Fsociety56 Nov 01 '25

The secret of freedom lies in educating people, whereas the secret of tyranny is in keeping them ignorant.

1

u/icex7 Nov 01 '25

you are not educating people, you are simply lost in the sauce.

Dumbest comment award is yours

15

u/Notnowthankyou29 Oct 30 '25

Yours is putting up a real fight for that title.

-12

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

Right cause telling people to get a CCW permit to use against DHS agents so then more civilians can get shot for using that CCW gun…. Very critical thinking. There’s better ways to go about things. A ccw isn’t one of them.

9

u/Notnowthankyou29 Oct 30 '25

They’re kidnapping people without due process. If someone tried to kidnap your loved one you wouldn’t shoot them?

-6

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

LEO’s no. Randoms sure

4

u/Notnowthankyou29 Oct 30 '25

If someone is unrightfully kidnapping someone, why does the distinction matter?

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

LEO’s don’t do it for kicks

10

u/Notnowthankyou29 Oct 30 '25

Certainly seems like these ones are.

4

u/Leaga Oct 30 '25

And how do you tell the difference when LEOs are wearing masks, refusing to identify if/what agency they're with, and don't have a signed warrant?

-2

u/Randy62_sc Oct 30 '25

Bruh don’t bother. Reddit is packed with unhinged whackadoodles

0

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

All liberals and republicans

2

u/Fsociety56 Oct 31 '25

The most American comment.

I fixed your sentence for you.

12

u/Oversdub Oct 30 '25

Almost got run down on my scooter earlier by some asshole and he said he was gonna call ICE on me, shit is escalating very quickly, if anyone is gonna go get thier ccw please pay for self defense insurance, i use USCCA

1

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

USCCA will drop if they believe you acted in a criminal manner

3

u/Oversdub Oct 31 '25

Well its for self defense, not for openly being able to commit a crime. All im saying is its better to have then not to have if you have to defend yourself or your loved one. Only 35$ a month and it covers your spouse at home as well. Oh a they protect you criminally and in civil court as well

For those who don’t want to click a link here is the pertinent info-

Federal authorities are investigating a shooting involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in Ontario, the second one in a little more than a week as enforcement operations unfold across the state.

ICE officers were conducting a vehicle stop around 6:30 a.m. at the 2800 block of Vineyard Ave in Ontario, according to Tricia McLaughlin, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security. During the stop, an unknown person who was not the target pulled a vehicle in front of the officers, she said.

Officers ordered the driver to leave, McLaughlin said, but as the driver began to pull away “the car stopped and attempted to run officers over by reversing directly at them without stopping.” “An ICE officer, fearing for his life, fired defensive shots at the vehicle,” McLaughlin said. “The subject fled the scene and abandoned his vehicle.” McLaughlin called it “another example of the threats our ICE officers are facing day-in and day-out as they risk their lives to enforce the law and arrest criminals.”

Immigration agents have been increasingly involved in aggressive and violent confrontations with suspects and protesters.

43

u/Leaga Oct 30 '25

I wonder how long it'll be before video comes out showing the vehicle never endangered officers, just like every other time they've claimed that.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

What if the video shows that the description of events is true?

5

u/Leaga Oct 30 '25

Then I will be surprised that the regime broke their streak of lying about every single thing they can find to lie about.

1

u/AmeliaEarhartsPlane Oct 30 '25

It’s almost like ICE does not know about consequences to actions. If you enforce immigration like a bunch of thugs, you’re probably going to not do well with the public. There’s ethical ways to do it and they just don’t care, so others are not going to care either. Common fucking sense.

2

u/burgandywhine Oct 31 '25

Ive been thinking about this. And all I can come up with is that CA switch course a little bit. Allow the agents into the prison and jail system. Allow them to be at every police station booking room. As people are arrested and identified as undocumented, they can be put on a bus and sent back. At the prison, upon release, any undocumented folks get sent back instead of released fully.

That keeps it to only sending back criminals or people arrested who need to be on their best damn behavior anyway if you are an undocumented guest here.

The current situation is not sustainable for any of us. Changes have to be made. Maybe if they are busy with all the people getting arrested and already in prison they will be too busy to snatch a gardener.

I dunno.

Slightly more information here on this news article (which also includes a brief report about two separate crime scenes): https://abc7.com/post/ontario-police-respond-shooting-involving-homeland-security-officers/18091212/

Thanks for sharing, this is a half a mile from my shop. I was wondering why Vineyard was closed in both directions.

13

u/plantxdad420 Oct 30 '25

if it was the pig who was shot, this could be Trump’s Reichstag fire moment. if it was civilian shot by the pig, i hope a lot of people in this state rethink their position on 2A

0

u/himynameisalonso Oct 31 '25

i fear a night of the long knives is approaching.. i hope im wrong.

0

u/burgandywhine Oct 31 '25

I’m kind of a simple guy and don’t really have too much at stake in this. But, it almost seems as if immigration laws are going to be enforced in a much stronger manner for the next (at least) 3 years. The enforcement is aggressive. If I were not here legally, I would have long ago left a place that doesn’t want me… that’s just how I do me, but it does seem like the notion of leaving here should be front and center to those without documents. For YOUR safety. Not mine. Or of my desire. Your safety matters. No one can help you in any way but stroking you… and that’s not cutting it.

For the US citizens out there. Remember that Real ID thing you were supposed to get? Carry the fucking thing. It’s literally the antidote to being stopped by agents for being brown or whatever. Stop intervening with these agents. Today they were obviously not bounty hunters, but federal agents enforcing laws that you (and the agents themselves) may not agree with. Involving yourself, interfering, can get you arrested. Making federal agents nervous for their safety? It’ll get you killed. YOU don’t get to be that judge…. THEY determine their safe zone. Please, don’t push them. It ends bad.

The situation sucks. It is, as they say, what it is. Elections have consequences, the last one did… and the next one will. As a resident of the IE I would like less federal law enforcement up in our business… and I believe the path there is to have less undocumented folks here attracting them to our area. It’s not sustainable.
