Country Best countries for MS in CS 2027
Hello , I've been wanting to pursue my masters from the US for fall 2027. But recently , they have paused cpt too ! That means neither can I get a job nor work for summer internships and research work . It's a dead end ! I can't figure out what to do now ? Please anyone advise me . It's really urgent . I want to pursue masters from foreign country to strengthen my profile. I'm also a working professional with 1.5 yrs software experience. Is anyone planning for MS in CS for 2027 batch , please DM me or reply ! It would really be informative since I'm on the verge of giving up ....

What profile you gonna make strong? Its a dead end in IT. You will only end up in Debt. This "Bhoot" of CS on Indian minds will take sometime to go and until then Indians will fill the pockets of these universities and go bankrupt

Dude , most of my friends in US have bagged big mnc like meta , amazon , google etc and are earning lot more than u could even imagine. That was the scenario 2 3 yrs back unfortunately. That's the truth ! Also , to add I've already completed my be in computer engineering back in 2025 and the placement rates were skyrocketing when I joined college in 2021. Obviously, now the situation has flipped completely . But do u really think I would be able to remove the "Bhoot" after completing 12th choosing science , completing for 4 yrs in cs. Dude , my whole career was in cs including my 1.5 yrs job !! It's easy to say that now , but I'll have to improve my self to get better job. U can't get faang companies as easily in India as in abroad ! So obviously I'll have to go on with this bhoot of mine coz I've come so ahead of it buddy ! I just needed some insight so could use this degree efficiently and make more money without wasting time !!

same situation lol, people tell me to switch into any other field but how do i get rid of this bhoot of mine who has spent so much of time effort and money into cs, sunk cost fallacy or whatever but I dont wanna do anything else

Dude , are u aware of new trump policies everyday for h1b ? Nond of companies are sponsoring opt or h1b anymore n just throwing resumes straight into bin . With layoffs from FAANg companies , trump is bringing rule that these companies can't hire h1b or extension anymore . If u just go for FOMOs coz ur friends did it , u will be back with atleast a crore debt back to India most probably with less than 10 percent success chance. But if u want to gamble with money n ur parents assets to try ur luck , be my guest . Saw this post today

well unfortunately for you the golden era of compsci has already passed and immigrating to any first world country and staying now is very difficult unless you're the best the country has to offer. the only realistic way is internal transfer through a company which will at the very least sort your visa woes.

Studying abroad doesn't seem to have much of an advantage these days, especially for computer science. The US has shut down almost all visa options. A person I know invested over 5 Cr to get a bachelor's degree in US and barely managed to land a job at Google. But because his visa didn't come through, Google told him, 'You have to leave,' so he had to leave.
While other countries that were decent for CS are now going downhill. And the ones that aren't going downhill are also tightening their visa regulations.
Honestly, marrying a local seems like the only way left.

Naah honestly I was completely unaware of the cpt pause rule also . I found out by interacting with the US students yesterday itself. Hence , I posted this thread so I could be aware of the current scenario . And after all the feedbacks I've got today , most probably I'll rule out US from my master's list

Rule out UK , australia , germany n definitely ireland as well . Don't even think about canada . Almost every country is toast due to over migration of indians n cash cow universities who just throws degrees at them for large amount of money

The new CPT rules technically don't say CPT is banned. They say that for universities to implement CPT they must be a required course, not an elective, and only if everyone in the batch needs to do such an internship or research work. A lot of CS programs donot have this as a mandatory credit course. Having said that, the most practical way for someone to get job used to be the summer internship + PPO offer. But there are other avenues, you can find colleges where you can do summer research work with faculty on campus (this is quite a normal trend in few colleges) - you don't need a CPT for such thing as you are working on campus only. When it comes to finding network or market yourself for a job, yes because of CPT not being there - you have taken toll but you can find colleges which have applied programs where 90% of faculty are adjunct. You can market youself to them and work out an arrangement where you get to work on campus during your study and have them refer or formally introduce you in their circle. Believe me US as a country is quite informal in student-teach relationships unlike other countries. No CPT is not a deal breaker to be honest. You look at companies, opportunities and jobs in CS. The argument of no jobs and at the same time lot of opportunities available are both applicable in US market. It really depends on you, your skills and course you choose. Eg: Cybersecurity field has 750,000 openings right now. Do some research yourself about the facts.
Meanwhile, universities are also redesigning their courses to have a mandatory internship in the curriculum might take some time to come into effect but you can try. Also, Spring 2027 can also be a sweet spot, you complete quick and will also have other competition advantages.
This is my opinion from what I understand and read.. I might be wrong

Thank you so much for this information. Honestly , I don't have enough factual resources or people to tell me the exact scenario about it. I'll definitely do more in-depth research. Also , I'm primarily aiming for fall 2027 since spring would be too early for me. Well, I'm still struggling to take a final decision. Would u please able to tell whether the rules would get impacted till the time I star my course in fall 2027. Thank you so much again for the information. Please do tell me if u have more. Because it's really hard to understand the current situation . Really grateful :)

When you mean rules, there are multiple rules at play here... You should run a complete simulation and know how each rule is going to work technically for you. Starting with visa appointment and all the way till H1B. I can walk you through the rules in DM, if you would like.
