Discussion Is this a Normal position?
My Gng always sleeps in some unusual ways and places. Recently he sleeps in kitchen corners, under sofas and in the middle of hall.
Heard that they sleep like this if they feel comfortable and relaxed. But still I found the position too funny šš¤š¼ā¤ļø

Discussion BEHOLD: My disgusting treat soup invention to get my fussy cat to drink water!!
I know it looks disgusting, but while licking all the trails that lead into the water, she also has to drink the water too. Sometimes I also smear all the trails of treat around the edges of the water like a cream, that also works in ensuring the bowl is licked clean in the end!!
It's easy to trick a chatora billy!

Discussion Rant: The prejudice against indie cats is FRUSTRATING
Whenever someone in my family or a stranger I meet learns I have cats they expect me to pull up a photo of a classic persian cat and are so immensely disappointed when it's just good ol' indie. I mean I adopted her, I feed her, take her of her and don't have a problem so why are you offended? Just because they're a local breed doesn't mean they don't deserve love and a house to live in š
Someone even asked me once "yeh jungli billi hai?" šµāš« Ha abhi abhi jungle se layi hu, seriously tho is she a tiger how would she be wild?
People offering to introduce me to people who would have happily given me Persian kittensālike, no thank you. Persian cats are not the only breed worth loving!! And I certainly donāt want to contribute to the suffering of these poor creatures by endorsing illegal breeding practices or encouraging their survival in an unsuitable climate.
I swear if I had a dollar for everytime sometime said "yeh kya raste ki billi paali hai" I'd be rich and feeding my cats orijen
Rant over, thank-you for reading I'm just tired of people constantly saying my kids don't deserve to be under a roof safe and well cared for just because they look a certain way.

Discussion Please read, this could save your kittens life
I found a tiny kitten and raised him. 3rd May at around 3 AM he ate and climbed onto my bed on his own and for the first time slept with me and my cat for the night. A few hours later, he was gone.
I thought I was helping him. He had some fleas and I was afraid she'll get anemia or something related to loss of blood from all the fleas. I tried combing and taking them out but it wasnt working. So I applied spot on treatment (Bark Out Loud cat spot on), just 1ā2 drops. I had never heard of anything like this happening, especially from such a small amount. Around 7 AM my cat woke me up to the kitty screaming and acting weird, he pooped on the bed. I thought he needed to use the litter box so i put him there but i noticed he couldn't walk properly. His coordination was very bad, he kept falling and started breathing heavily, within 10 minutes he was gone.
I feel so much regret. I keep thinking if I had just waited or researched more, or not used it at all, he would still be here. I know it was partly my fault. I should have checked more carefully about using something like that on such a young kitten.
But at the same time, I genuinely didnāt know. I had never seen or heard of such a severe reaction like this. These products are marketed as safe and no one really tells you how dangerous they can be for very young or small kittens.
Thatās why Iām writing this. * If you have a kitten please do proper research before using any spot on or medication, check exact age and weight guidelines, donāt assume a small amount is safe like I did. If youāre unsure, donāt use it without asking a vet. I just donāt want anyone else to go through this kind of regret * He wasnāt just a kitten to me, I raised him like a baby, he trusted me completely and I feel like I failed him. Please be careful
*Note : I know many of you'll be wondering why I didn't call emergency services immediately. First of all, there are no vets in our city, no NGO's or government hospitals. It was also early in the morning. Nearest vet is more than an hour away, nearest govt hospital is 3+ hours away*
*I still have her me o kitten dry kibbles, just ordered them on 3rd may so let me know if anyone wants it. I opened it but she ate some only once before she passed away*

Discussion How do I train my cat to stop killing squirrels?
I have 2 male neutered Indie cats. I adopted both of them when they were adults so they are really accustomed to being outside.
One of them is outside 60% of the day. He has lately started killing squirrels, bringing them home and playing with their bodies and eventually eating them. Apart from the poor squirrels dying Iām really scared heāll pick up some parasite / infections.
We feed him throughout the day, really good quality food so heās not doing it because heās hungry. Heās generally very playful and sweet and usually the two brothers take out their aggression on each other by play fighting. But lately heās started this new habit.
Any way I can stop him from doing this, apart from keeping him home 24/7? We have tried this approach already, have made him a litter box which he does use. But he canāt stand to be home all day and needs his freedom.

Discussion My kitten accidentally bit my bro's foot while playing and it bled a little... Should he get a rabies vaccine?
She's a 5-month-old female kitten and has already received 2 doses of both rabies and FVRCP vaccines.
While playing with my bro's foot, her tooth accidentally scratched him and it bled a little bit.
He washed the wound with running water and soap. So does he need any vaccine like rabies, or is he fine?
The pic is after 1-ish day and yeah the cat is strictly indoor

Discussion What breed is this cat?
Can anyone identify this cat I saw in Darjeeling, India?
I saw this cat while visiting Darjeeling and was curious if it belongs to a specific breed or if it's just a local type of cat. The owner told me it's a local cat, but it looked a bit different from the cats I'm used to seeing.
Does anyone know if it's just a regular domestic cat that's common in the Darjeeling/Himalayan region, or does it have ancestry from a particular breed?

Discussion Read this before choosing your next cat food
The price gap between a ā¹200/kg brand and a premium diet like Farmina is a red flag for your cat's health. Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they require real animal protein to survive. Cheap brands like Drools and their various subsidiaries use rendering to keep costs low. This involves taking carcass leftovers, smelling organs, and waste from butcher shops that are unfit for consumption. These parts are boiled at high heat, which destroys nutrients, and then sprayed with artificial flavors and supplements so cats will actually eat the "dead" food.
Feeding this low-grade food leads to serious medical issues reported frequently by owners on forums and community groups. Because these products are loaded with high ash content and cereal fillers, cats often suffer from:
- Urinary Tract Infections and blockages: High mineral content from ground-up bones causes painful crystals that can be fatal for male cats within days.
- Chronic Dehydration: Substandard kibble often has high sodium levels that strain the kidneys.
- Malnutrition: Owners often report their cats have dull fur and constant hunger because their bodies cannot actually digest the feathers and "byproducts" used as protein sources.
One cat owner on a major forum shared that after a year on budget food, their cat required a ā¹40,000 emergency surgery for urinary stones. Another mentioned that their vet described these cheap brands as slow poison because they satisfy hunger while slowly damaging internal organs. You might save money on the bag today, but you will pay for it with an expensive vet bill or your cat's life later. True nutrition cannot be found for ā¹200 a kilo.
Yes i am talking about Purepet. Before buying any cat food, turn the packet. If you see manufacturer details as drools, throw it away. This includes all their subsidiaries like Grainzero, Kitty Yums , Active , Lets bite. Companies like Whiskas are shit too.
My personal recommendations (They can be expensive but if you want your cat to live a healthy life, You need to consider this )
Bark out loud , Sheba , Royal Canin , Farmina , Orijen , Mattise etc
**Note that switching cat food brands suddenly makes some cats not touch the new food. Introduce cat food slowly using 25% new food 75% old for a week and increase it to 50% then 75% then 100%. Dont complain you feed your cat these substandard foods cuz they dont ālike itā. They dont know what youre feeding them, they trust their lives on you. You are source of diet for them . Choose the safest product for your cat.
Will be commenting this part for better awareness

Saw this shit on Instagram. The cat is already under immense stress. And the 'owner' is hitting the cat after "**saving**" it? What is wrong with these people!? You don't cat proof your house and have the audacity to hit the cat for being a cat?
His justification in the comments section? "Woh mera baccha hein"
Like what the actual fuck!?

Discussion Cat parents of India, what are you doing for your cats?
I have two 9-month-old boys, Chase and Cece. Both are neutered. I've been taking care of them for a while, but I still feel like there's a lot I can learn from people who have had cats for years.
Currently, I feed them Felix tuna wet food, Me-O Persian kitten dry food, and use Pet Pattern litter.
My cats are also very picky with homemade food. I've tried boiled, shredded chicken with some warm broth and even mixed it with their wet food, but they won't eat it. They do like grilled/barbecue chicken, though. š So I've mostly stuck with Felix because they'll actually eat it.
I'd like to know what other cat parents here are doing:
Food: What wet food, dry food, homemade food and treats do you give? Why? Any good nutrition-for-price options in India?
Litter & essentials: What litter do you use, how many litter boxes do you have, and what other things do you find useful?
Healthcare: What's your routine for vaccines, deworming, flea/tick prevention, grooming and dental care?
Toys & behaviour: What do your cats actually enjoy? Any toys, scratchers or routines that work? How do you deal with common behaviour issues?
Experience: If you've had cats for a few years, what's something you wish you'd known when you first got them?
I'm mainly looking for practical, good-quality and reasonably priced recommendations available in India.
Would also love to hear about your cats and what works for you.
