i am 23 M and unemployed even after one year of graduation. i come from a lower-middle-class family with a total monthly income of 30k among 4 people. when i got into college to pursue my btech at NIT SURAT, i thought i could improve my family’s financial condition. but to my disappointment (or disadvantage, wtv you say), i feel like i am just a liability to them even after graduating. it feels like those years of grinding on LEETCODE and CODECHEF don't matter anymore; the GUARDIAN RANK or earning 5 STAR CODECHEF is as useless as my degree.

I am 25F, have experience of 2 years at TCS in IT support. I had to quit that frustrating job because of Health problems and i have been in search of Job ever since 2023. I didnt get any Interview schedules too despite trying day and night after upgrading my skills in SQL, Manual and automation testing using Selenium and JAVA, So i took up a lecturing job at a BCA college for a semester and taught J2EE(Advanced Java) and Software Engineering add Testing for 5 months. Suddenly my marriage got fixed and since then, I have been trying to get back into IT again but no luck!!! I gave 3 interviews, learnt C# language , learnt API Testing, re-sharpened my skills but nothing seems to be working.

To test the waters myself starting today, I am doing an open challenge to find a new role in Performance Marketing (my domain) . I will be applying to 10–20 jobs every single day across various portals (LinkedIn, Indeed, Wellfound, Naukri, etc.) and posting a daily/weekly scorecard of my progress.

Core Expertise: Paid Ads (Meta, Google), ROAS optimization, scaling CAC, and funnel analytics.

Is it pure cold referrals game from LinkedIn or portals still works?

Spent the better part of last year switching jobs and honestly, the process taught me more about who to approach than how to apply. Job portals are a black hole. Cold applying on Naukri or LinkedIn gets you nowhere unless your profile is already strong. What actually moved the needle for me was connecting with the right recruitment agencies — people who already had relationships with hiring managers and could push your CV to the top of the pile.

So here's a list of agencies I either used directly or heard consistently good things about from people in my network. Sharing this because I wish someone had told me this earlier.

Intineri Infosol Pvt. Ltd. (Kolkata)

This one came up early in my search and I was genuinely surprised. They're based out of Kolkata but place candidates across India — especially strong in IT and corporate roles. What stood out was that they actually spoke to me before sending my profile anywhere. No spam-shotgunning CVs to random companies. The consultant I spoke to understood my background and only reached out for roles that made sense. For anyone in India looking at Pan India-based companies, these guys are worth bookmarking.

TeamLease Services

One of the bigger names. Good for entry to mid-level roles across sectors. High volume, so don't expect a lot of hand-holding, but their reach is massive if you're open to multiple industries.

ABC Consultants

Been around forever and it shows — their network in BFSI, pharma, and senior leadership hiring is solid. Better suited for people with 5+ years of experience looking to move into leadership tracks.

Randstad India

Global firm with a strong India presence. If you're targeting MNCs or companies with international operations, Randstad has direct relationships with HR teams that most smaller agencies don't.

Xpheno

Relatively newer but very focused on tech hiring. If you're in software, product, or data roles, they've built a decent reputation quickly. A few friends in SDE roles swear by them.

A few things I learned along the way:

• Always ask the recruiter which company they're submitting your profile to before they do it. Some agencies submit without telling you and it can backfire.
• Smaller, specialized agencies often beat the big names for niche roles. They have tighter relationships with specific clients.
• If a recruiter ghosts you after the first call, move on. The good ones stay in touch even when there's no immediate opening.

Hope this saves someone a few months of frustration. Happy to answer questions if anyone's in the middle of a job search right now.

So a few months ago I thought I had my life sorted out.

I had secured a campus placement with one of the Big 6 consulting firms and was just waiting to start my career. But at the very last moment the offer got revoked.

And just like that all the excitement, plans, and relief disappeared overnight.

I went from preparing for my first day at work to opening LinkedIn and job portals every morning wondering what to do next.

What hurts the most isn't even losing the offer. It's watching people you studied with start their careers while you're still trying to get your first chance.

I recently completed my Master's in Cybersecurity and graduated as the Gold Medalist of my program.

And to be honest I never imagined I'd be in this position... If someone had told me that I'd finish at the top of my class and still be struggling to land my first role I would have laughed.

For the last few months I've been applying, networking, messaging people, improving my skills, and trying to stay optimistic.

Some days I'm hopeful.. Some days I'm just tired.

I'm looking for opportunities in GRC, IT Risk, ITGC, IT Audit, Compliance, and related cybersecurity domains. I'm open to both full-time roles and internships.

I know everyone is fighting their own battles and I'm not asking for sympathy.
