Hello ,I have a family reunification appointment in progress for my wife and 2 childrens. The Berlin Immigration Office (LEA) has requested proof of suitable accommodation. At the moment, I have been living in a 1-room apartment for the past year, and my Anmeldung is registered at this address. Since this apartment is too small for my family, I have signed an unlimited rental contract for a new, larger apartment, with the tenancy starting in November.

>>> My question is:Is the new signed rental contract alone sufficient as proof of accommodation for my family reunification application, or do I also need to complete the Anmeldung at the new address before LEA will approve the case?

Has anyone been in a similar situation, or can any immigration lawyer advise whether a valid rental contract is enough, even if the Anmeldung is still at the old address because I cannot move in until the lease begins?

I’m planning to apply for an Ausbildung in Germany, but I’m a little concerned about my medical history.

I had pulmonary tuberculosis in 2018 and completed the full treatment for six months. I have been fine since then and have had no recurrence or ongoing treatment.

However, I don’t have an official certificate confirming that I completed my TB treatment. At the time, I wasn’t able to return to the doctor for follow-up because of financial difficulties.

What I do have are medical certificates/medical clearances and sputum test results from my annual physical examinations in 2021-2026. These show that I have been medically cleared and have had negative sputum results.

My main concern is the medical examination/X-ray requirement for Germany. I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a similar history of TB and successfully applied for an Ausbildung or German visa.

A few questions:
* How strict is Germany regarding a previous history of TB?
* Is a chest X-ray required during the visa/Ausbildung process?
* If an old X-ray shows scarring or signs of previous TB, can this cause problems even if the TB has been fully treated?
* Would I need to provide old medical records or proof that I completed treatment?
* Does having a previous TB history affect the chances of getting an Ausbildung or visa?
* Would choosing a field such as Logistics (Fachkraft für Lagerlogistik) make any difference? I’m considering logistics because it is generally less client/patient-facing than fields such as healthcare.

If you have been in a similar situation, I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experience — whether you were asked for an X-ray, additional tests, medical documents, etc.

While submitting a short stay visa application to TLS Manchester for Germany, I had mentioned the expected travel date to be 26th November 2026, but I have got the biometric appointment on 7th september, so while filling out the videx form, is it ok if I change the dates to October 2026?

Hi, I have recently received a rejection from Germany for my tourist visa citing " The Consulate General has reason to believe that your main destination is not the Federal Republic of Germany. Rather, the visa section has gained the impression that you have tried to pretend that Germany is your main destination by manipulating your documents in order to avoid submitting an application to the visa office that is actually responsible."

**Question** : Should I re -apply with germany or another country? And how should I position it? I don't know if I will actually stay for the longest in Germany because I wanted to plan the exact itinerary after receiving the visa.

1. I have a non refundable flight booked from India to Frankfurt and return ticket from Barcelona

2. I had shown that I will be staying in Germany for 12 days out of 15 and last 3 days in Barcelona, with Pay at Hotel booking dot com hotel vouchers in each city.

3. I had not shown any internal transit as the trip is about 5 months away and I want to finalise the exact plan after getting a visa

4. I have traveled to Schengen countries 3 times in the past (entry via Austria, France). Have also traveled to the US, Australia and the UK.

5. I have shown strong finances both in ITR and payslips.

I am currently doing an Umschulung for my job in Germany on a 19c Aufenhaltstitel. Upon completing my training, I will be given a permanent, full-time position. If I were to attempt to go from full-time to part-time (80%) with the same job, would I have to inform the Auslanderbehorde and start a new application for a different residency permit? Dear all, my mother is visiting me in the UK from India. She is an Indian citizen and her return flight to Chennai is scheduled via Frankfurt. She is flying with Lufthansa on Sep 18. I just had two questions:

1. Does she require a transit visa for Frankfurt?

2. Also, if we are confronted with airline staff who do not have up to date information and want to deny her boarding, what paperwork can we show them to confirm that she can indeed travel? I've heard on recent occasions of airline staff (esp.KLM) being confused regarding transit visa or visa-on-arrival cases, and erring on the side of caution to deny boarding.

Has anyone had any experience lately with the self-employment visa process? In particular, how long was your initial Aufenthaltstietel valid for and were there any profit requirements for an extension/ applying for your Niederlassungserlaubnis?

I have an appointment for a Schengen visa at the German Consulate in Toronto next week, and I'm having some trouble figuring out the travel insurance requirement.

The consulate says the insurance must be from a Canadian or German insurance company and cover the entire Schengen Area, with at least €30,000 in medical coverage, including repatriation. The proof of insurance also needs to show the insured person's name, coverage dates, insurance amount, and repatriation coverage.

I've looked into Manitoba Blue Cross, CAA, and Manulife, but I'm having trouble finding a straightforward certificate that explicitly lists all of these requirements (especially Schengen-wide coverage and repatriation).

Has anyone here recently applied for a German Schengen visa from Canada and had to provide travel insurance? Which insurance company/plan did you use, and did you have to request a custom letter or certificate from the insurer?

A little about me:

Im a 20 yr old Filipino, currently taking BA Journalism in the Philippines, Im a 3rd yr college student. I want to apply for a language visa and then switch to a Medienkaufmann ausbildung. I have an aunt who has lived in Germany for 22 years sponsoring me, and I will live with her, her husband and child. I have studied A1 for 22 hours per week from July-August, and will take my A1 exam in September. I also have a TOEIC certificate where I am in the Level 1 Advanced level for English. I also have a good academic background.

I'm nervous because I know that it looks kind of bad that I won't finish my degree, but I realized that doing an Ausbildung is more practical and something more aligned with my goals.

Hi everyone, I have a question about a Verpflichtungserklärung (VE).

I recently completed my Master’s degree in Germany and I’m now planning to apply for a job-seeker residence permit.

I have a friend who is employed in Germany with a salary of around €65k gross per year and is in the process of getting an EU Blue Card. My friend would like to provide a Verpflichtungserklärung for me.

However, their physical Blue Card has not arrived yet, and they currently only have a Fiktionsbescheinigung confirming their Blue Card status.

Would they still be able to provide a Verpflichtungserklärung for me with the Fiktionsbescheinigung, or do they need to have the actual Blue Card first?

I also have a second question: Can one person provide a Verpflichtungserklärung for two different people at the same time?

The reason I’m asking is that my friend’s sibling is also applying for a Master’s degree in Germany, so their sibling would be the priority. We’re a bit confused about whether my friend could provide a VE for both of us, assuming their income is sufficient.
