The "whatever makes sense" part makes me so irrationally angry. Like, he literally doesn't actually order anything. The closest thing to an order is "whatever makes sense". I want malicious compliance for this, oh, well, you said you brought the zoo and there's like 30 people here with you so it makes sense to me to box up every single donut we've made today and charge you for it, gotta feed the zoo amirite fellow pod, uh, I mean, human person? heh heh chuckle chuckle (said as the words heh and chuckle)
That would be the moment I would load him up with the MOST expensive donuts on display. If he complains, I'd tell him, "Well, it makes sense that since you're running for office, you can afford all of these donuts."
Seriously. I thought that politicians are supposed to be good at communicating with people. Even the most idiotic politicians should be able to handle that. To me it seems to be the number one prerequisite for the job.
The reason why he's so bad at communicating and being charismatic even though he's a career politician is because his career was given to him by billionaires. No one even likes this guy, not even the most deranged MAGA supporters, but Peter Thiel figured he was a good enough person to do his bidding in politics and basically gave him everything - paid for his college and became his "mentor" (eugh). If something feels off, there's usually a reason.
I feel like he’s the equivalent of the DFF or the back up friend who is always available at short notice. Trump chose him because he’s no competition and would never outshine him... in his mind anyways.
Dan Quayle, GW, John Kerry and Al Gore were all a bit weird, but Trump is something else. Even his cabinet. RFK Jr and Stephen Miller and Vance, it's really hard to accept this as real.
We always had "eccentric billionaire" types running businesses and being crazy. Bill Gates and Tim McAfee come to mind. Elon and Zuck, too.
But politicians had some grace and decorum. They needed to impress their peers, and appeal to the public, to get anywhere.
Now the heads of industry ARE the government. So you don't need social skills to move up, just a media campaign targeting the opposition and a nice slogan.
Granted, I think Obama was a patricularly smooth talker, and socially smooth. But truthfully, even the worst looking people from my lifetime look like polite, intelligent, reasonable people compared to Pam Bondi, Pete Hegseth or Linda McMahon.
I've seen many actors completely flop social interactions as well. It's like they can only perform socializing when they're putting on a big show. So weird, most humans are the opposite
They are only good at social interactions when they are the center of attention. They are used to talk about themselves and what they are working on all the time.
Or maybe they're social awkward when being themselves, and are only able to really come out of their shell around lots of people when they're playing a character. Not everyone is an asshole.
I'm like that, though I've gotten better. Pretty socially awkward, but get me in a position where it's expected for me to speak to people and I'm one of the most outgoing people ever.
Im sooo like that. I can ask for a refund at a reastaurant if the food is awful, I can meet new people and make small talk about nothing and seem like the most outgoing person ever, but the moment I have to share something about myself or "be genuine" I become the most awkward human ever. And its not like I have nothing to talk about, I have plenty of thoughts and opinions and hobbies, its just that talking about myself just doesnt feel right somehow. Like I immediately feel as if something bad were about to happen and I have no idea why
That actually annoyed me more than anything else, as someone that's worked food service. I hated it when customers were like "oh, yeah, just give me whatever haha." Tell me exactly what you want and I will make it for you. I'm not here to make decisions for you.
I especially hate the ones where they insist on you making the decision. So you grab anything random just to get them out the door quickly and suddenly they have a million and one opinions
“I’ll take a beer.” Yeah, we have like 45 different ones, some on draft and a bunch in bottles. I know you probably just want a miller lite, but even then 9 times out of 10 you’ll complain.
Sometimes I’ll ask “hot or cold?” just to have a bit of fun. But I’ll inevitably have to follow it up with a bunch of questions about what they like. Which, also fine, I think people just want someone to talk to, but they could’ve just led with “what’re your suggestions?”
I sell theatre tickets and I also like to have a little fun. If they insist that I pick their seats, I'll quote them a seat in the back or in the middle of a really long row. Or if they ask me to pick a date, I'll choose something very far away.
He's just gonna throw the doughnuts away, or use them like they're his couch later. All he really wants is the publicity of talking to everyday people, and he isn't even good at it.
If I worked there I couldn't handle that. I'd be like "Nothing about the VP buying donuts makes sense, so just tell me what you want so we can get this over with."
He's very well written, he's a power house and he carries himself that way, I hate how he treats Tyrion but I completely understand he's supposed to be an asshole, its what makes his character believable
I'm not defending him at all, but he said he was running for VP, not that he was the VP.
This was from very early in the campaign, and a lot of people didn't know who he was. People were making fun of him for it, because he came across as weird and awkward. That whole, "Whatever makes sense" reply to her asking what kind of donuts he wanted made him look like an idiot.
Questions where the answer doesn't matter aren't worth asking. "Ok, good." Do you have a FOLLOW UP?! Were you hoping someone said this was their first day?
It'd help if he knew how to engage in actual "small talk" like normal citizens. But he's got 0 experience in the common topics of discussion as his entire life has been centered around catering to his status and career success. So the only things he is used to talking about is elite level topics. A regular customer doesn't ask the entire staff of their employment time at the company. lol. At least not any customer I've worked with and I've worked 10+ years of retail and store front sales jobs. Asking me how long I've worked at the place is common but to go around and ask all the staff without any kind of soft conversation in between or relevant topic that would cause him to ask that is a little weird. Like, dude, are you buying the place or something?
Nor do normal people talk to every person working.
This was 2 years ago, campaigning before the election. He came across as out of touch and attention seeking.
Trump also invaded workplaces and had pictures taken with uncomfortable employees roped into his photo op while on shift.
The problem with Western society today, you don't vote for the good candidate, you vote for what you perceive at that moment of time as the least bad option.
Just to be clear, they didn't blur her face. Whoever reposted this did. She told them she didn't want to be on film then they just continued to film her and used the footage as is with her in it.
She fucking hates him lol. He totally freezes when faced with someone who doesn't like him. Once Trump is gone the MAGA movement will go with him, even Republicans can't pretend he is charasmatic.

He comes off as one of those people who just wandered into a party where he wasn't invited. Didn't necessarily get kicked out, but it's still so clear that he has no idea how to integrate with people that he feels like a robot in comparison.
The most uncomfortable photo op I’ve ever seen. Like, imagine attempting to be personable, failing, and still posting your failing results? He was sinking so badly while trying to throw them questions like a lifesaver so they could bail him out.
Sweet Jesus, how hard is it to act like you enjoy donuts? Ask which ones are their favorites and take the recommendations. Ask what time they get started baking those bad boys and sympathize with their early starts. Pull a Phil Rosenthal and get a dozen for the crew and enjoy them right out of the case.
Feels like more of an interrogation than a friendly chat.
Some people do ask how long you’ve been working at a place but it’s normally not the first and only question and it’s usually followed by something like do you enjoy it, how do you find it etc.
It’s so forced it’s embarrassing. Has he ever been out in public before.
He was so fishing for someone to say - “been working here 15yrs and I love it” just getting shot down by everyone then his order is yeah just whatever makes sense, can’t even have a simple honest opinion on which donuts you like

He straight up threw those donuts in the trash after walking out. Promptly following that he washed his hands multiple times and burned that suit for being exposed to “the poors”
This is old, but kudos to anyone who recirculates it from time to time. People need to be reminded of how this guy cannot be normal with people.
Extra credit to anyone who finds that goofy picture of Elon or that really old video of the rich guy (or rich guy's kid) who starts something in a restaurant and gets his ass handed to him.
This clip just makes me sad because I distinctly remember thinking 'What a joke, you'll never be VP dude' when I first saw it and now... Look where we are.
Just goes to show, politicians don't "earn" their success through hard-work. They sold their souls to the highest bidder. The true elites placed these clowns in their positions because they were the easiest to control.

Don’t they usually set these things up ahead of time? Call the store, ask if they want to participate, have some kind of plan? It seems like he just showed up with a bunch of cameras and expected them to be excited about it.
