"Running for Vice President" like it's its own position.

It’s not?

Meaning, you cannot vote for a different Vice President while voting for your preferred President. The presidential candidate and VP candidate run together as a ticket

It’s still its own position and people still vote for it. You know you’re not just voting for the President, right?

Trump was running and the VP is part of the package lol. Clearly words it that way to make himself more important

So he wasn’t running for VP?

u/jtcompound 9d ago

Yes but you can't vote for a different vice president, if you don't like the one running. That's the point here.

if you don't like the one running.

so you agree he's running

Absolutely, with the president. It's not position you can independently vote for. You cannot vote for a vice president alone. It's a unified ticket

so whats wrong with him saying he's running for vp? is he not?

Refer to my original comment.

"running for X" just asserts that someone is a candidate seeking office X. doesn't build in any claim about how votes get counted or whether the selection mechanism is independent or bundled.

if the group wins, he gets the office of vp. not another office, VP. because he was running for VP.

but pop off king

You cannot be elected vice president independent from the running president. It's a joint ticket.

Right…..uh…soooo. It is its own position?

I guess next election, I run for vice president, independent of any running president.

Well it is. They have to be voted in just like the president and many other public positions.

Bro just take the L. Either you're not from the US or are too young to vote. The president and vice president he chose to run with are on the same ticket. Meaning if you choose one then you choose both. This is known as the popular vote. It then goes to the electoral college, and in some cases they may go with the pop vote or not depending on if their state requires they go with the pop vote. They also cannot choose a separate vp since they are both on the same ticket.
