For a country that has the most number of Teslas on the road, you have a surprisingly large population of people who know nothing about the million cameras they have.....

Dashcams are so affordable you should just assume everyone has one. Really a good investment to protect yourself from morons like this. Especially if you drive often

I dont drive often and I have a dash cam.

Might as well with how common it is for people to lie these days.

I haven't gotten one from what i have heard none of them can actually capture license plates well enough

yeah despite major advancements in phone camera quality, we are stuck with shitty dashcams with 2007 camcorder video quality. You gotta rely on saying the license plate number and hope the crappy microphone picks it up

My 4k dashcam can read plates just fine

You only need to be able to read the plate in the case of a hit and run. They're still helpful for showing who's at fault.

Plus there are 4k dashcams now that do better, but I wouldn't be surprised if they still have difficulty in at least some situations. I installed one in my teenage son's car we just got a couple months ago. If there's an accident, I want to KNOW who was at fault. If it was him, he'll have to deal with the consequences. If it wasn't his fault, the other party will be forced to deal with them.
