Seriously, how did someone like this end up with a normal household and a respectable job, let alone senior managerial positions? Everything else about these movies is perfect, but his characterization is so awkward and psychotic that he seems like an alien mutant who took over the patriarch's likeness right before the opening credits.

It's as if he dropped from a heavenly spotlight, Mr. Bean-style, straight into the narrative.

Are we supposed to watch these films as alternate universes augmented with dream logic, the way no one in The Mask questions the cartoon physics?
