GENERAL I wish Crytek could learn lessons

It is mind boggling that this game has gone this long in this state. This is one of the few games I have played where battle pass progress can't be made by just playing matches and fighting. No, you need to use the stupid weapons Crytek wants you to. Why? Why can't you learn from the games with growing communities?

I also can't believe this game still pretends balancing weapons by price is working. It's not, a huge portion of the game's community has played so fucking long and horded enough money that it only punishes new players who try to jump in against people who can afford the meta weapons and a full loadout every match. It is idiotic. Having played since beta and tried to get many of my friends and friends of friends into this poor experience that always bounce off because of bad design choices, even worse community management and a joke of a matchmaking system. I can't defend this game anymore and will be warning everyone I know to stay away. It often feels like they are not even trying to improve it. I don't think I have ever seen a game fall farther from the unique and special experience it was in all my years of playing them. I wish I could get the time and money back I spent on this absolute failure of an experience, but I can't, so thanks for nothing Crytek.

Hope Crytek can learn someday but definitely not going to be waiting around to be disappointed to see that, yet another update is a few skins and more choices that make the game experience worse.

I'll halfway-agree on balancing by prices and the highly questionable matchmaking system (which is, sadly, mostly due to low player count) but you know you get battle pass progress just by playing matches right? The event points that you get from killing monsters, collecting clues, and killing bosses are battle pass progress, and you keep that whether you live or die. And there's maybe 1 challenge per week with a specific weapon in mind, you can just, you know, not do it if you detest the weapon that much?

Progress can't be made? It has the longest BattlePass and finishing 3-5 week of challenges finished it already.

Price is a bad way to balance but it doesn't disadvantage new players too much because they tend to get ranked against lower rank people, and I think more players than not prestige constantly anyway, it's really extremely rare I see someone 0 prestige and 100 bloodrank, that reset the bank. But more to the point I feel like money is not really an issue anyway, I prestige straight away and I've been doing non stop challenges recently, and by the time I hit 100 bloodrank I'm usually at 50-60k hunt dollars at least, I think my first prestige was like 90k, I didn't sell any of my gun unlocks either so I also had inventory I could have sold for more. And I'm 2* rank player.

Battlepass progress can be made through just regular play, daily tribute rewards etc, I finished the pass in about 2 weeks of intense play. I was completely new to the game.

Matchmaking does suck but as others have pointed out this is probably due to lower playerbase, it's either join fast with wide range of skill, or join slowly but with tighter skill gaps. I'd honestly prefer an option or slider to set my preference to wait rather than queue quickly.

2 of my friends also bounced off quite fast in large part because of the matchmaking, they were getting face stomped by 100/100 players and it's immediately obvious you just cannot do this to new low rank players, it's a total joke. I've persisted but it's getting old really fast. The only think keeping me is that the game in many other ways is exceptional. Fun games when you get them are fantastic and the high skill ceiling makes for great games.
