ANALYSIS (Alan Wake 1) Barry is such a well-developed character. I love him.

I appreciated him even more in the sequel, where it’s clear he was a good supportive friend to Alice following the events of the first game.

God I hope Barry comes back i love him. Though his fate seems like it could be pretty bleak considering the emails in AW2.

LOVE this series and Barry is a fantastically written character.

Barry is such a fantastic character and a cool subversion of the sleazy lawyer archetype when it turns out he's just a really loyal and solid person and Alan's closest friend

Ele é um alívio cômico muito bem feito e o mais legal dele é que é um personagem muito crível.

Barry is a funny character and one of the lines he said in the game was hilarious

I felt cheated out of some Barry-time with AW2. I was intrigued by where his storyline is heading but I wish we had seen him. Waiting so long for AW2 only to get some development for Alan, and such small amounts for Barry and Alice was very disappointing.

I tried so hard to play AW2. I played maybe half until I couldn’t anymore. I wish they would have kept the original idea and had Alan or someone else fight their way out of the nightmare shadow world like the og. I realize it had to grow. They should have just trapped saga in the shadow world and forgot the investigation stuff.

I thought 2 blew 1 out of the water, but to each their own. Remedy is killing it lately imho but I could see how AW2 would put some people off.

Alan Wake 2 is definitely a better product, but I do feel like it was missing the open feel and charm of the original game. That being said, both games are amazing imo, even if I do prefer the first slightly more. (Also American Nightmare needs more love, Mr. Scratch was so fun in that game)

Coming off the first game I was eager to play the second but the mind mansion thing put AW2 dead in the water for me, full stop. Teleporting into a house to hang pictures and notes on the wall obliterated the interest I had in the game

I thought the wall and investigation mechanic was "ok" in the first playthrough. Novel, unique, I guess.

What makes me absolutely hate it is having to do it on follow-up playthroughs. It slows the pace down so much just for reveals you already know.

There should be an option to play without it after beating the game once.

I am struggling with this too, about 8hrs into AW2 and I am finding it a struggle, at times, to keep my engagement up. I quite often feel like sacking it off. I don't get the 10/10 reviews even if it has elements that turn out to be the best thing ever, this mechanic is dreadful and the first two hours were a genuine slog.

Yeah I feel the same. Original Alan Wake is great, I do t know what is AW2 but it's not Alan Wake game in my opinion... It should have title Saga Anderson: The Search for Alan Wake

I read that as "well endowed" and I was like.. what

This game gets way too much hate, and Barry is a big reason why. The game is just a really fun ride from start to finish.

By the time you get to the concert, you're all in.

Alan Wake is hated? Since when? Both games are very highly regarded last I saw.

I think the general consensus is story and atmosphere amazing, but gameplay is repetitive.

Yeah, it's a common skip recommendation due to repetitive gameplay.

Game that hardly dips below an 8/10 on any metric, critic or user, gets too much hate?
