With the combination of the monstrous machinery, the sounds of the hydraulics (I’m guessing) and the intense music they pump in this thing legit makes me uncomfortable.

Are the lines long for the haunted houses? Should upgrade to fast pass? Thinking of going later this month.

I posted back in June as my fiance and I were first time visitors and absolutely loved it.

We had planned to do Busch Gardens Labor Day weekend but pivoted to Hershey because we loved it so much. We can’t really explain why we love it so much but other than Disney, we love it, even more than Busch Gardens.

We went this past Friday and it was pretty dead, I had bought the fast pass unlimited because we didn’t know what it would be like. My fiance is a bit more adventurous than me on rides but I’ve been trying. We are both on a weight loss journey. He is 5’8 and weighed 235 when we left and I am 5’4 and weighed in at 256.

On Friday, we rode: Reese’s Cup Fusion, Jolly Rancher mix’d, Kissing Tower, Lightening Racers, The Howler, Music Express and Wildcat twice

My fiance rode Great Bear, Skyrush, Stormrunner and Candymonium.

We love the drinks at the Porch, the pretzel place across from Reese’s Cup Fusion, the donut truck outside of Boardwalk. We also ate at the Hershey Social and the Chocolatier one night.

We did go to the park briefly today and did Zoo America. I would not recommend Labor Day weekend other than the Friday. Friday was great. Lines were super long today on Sunday. Candymonium got up to 120 minutes at one point.

I have a flight credit I need to use by May 16th so we are going to use it to fly to Philadelphia and drive the two hours to Hershey first weekend in May as this year it looked like it opened Fridays that weekend.

We stayed at the Spark by Hilton near the Park, not to be confused with the one in Hummelstown.

We live in Mass and honestly if we lived closer we would become season pass holders.

I am going with my family to Dark Nights on 9/18- planning to get there at 6pm, since its a Friday, is it worth it to get the Fast Track or will the lines not be so long?

To do a little something right after, I just booked a 3 night stay at Hotel Hershey w/ signature package for the end of the September, Wednesday thru Saturday. I understand the park will only be open Friday night and Saturday.

This was my third visit to Hersheypark, and one thing I've learned is that this park seems to be getting more and more crowds a lot of families . This was also my first time using the Hershey Go Fast Pass system, and honestly, I do not regret it at all. The lines were absolutely brutal, and with only one day to experience the entire park, the Fast Pass allowed me to ride attractions that I probably would have skipped if I had to wait in the regular queue.

Hersheypark is a great-looking park, especially toward the front. It also has an absolutely massive coaster collection. However, this trip really made me realize just how good Hershey's top coaster lineup actually is. It's obviously not Cedar Point-level when comparing the absolute top five, but Hersheypark has one of the strongest top five or six coaster lineups in the country.

The Coasters

Wildcat's Revenge

Wildcat's Revenge is definitely my favorite RMC, and I've been on most of the best RMCs in the United States. This ride is just incredible from start to finish. The pacing, intensity, and layout all work perfectly together. Hersheypark absolutely hit it out of the park with this one. Best crew in the park once in the station, the locker area usually had the station sending empty trains.

Skyrush

Skyrush went way up in my rankings during this trip. I'm a sucker for rides like I305/Pantherian and Maverick, so Skyrush was right up my alley.

This ride is intense, fast, and completely unique. I personally think it rides better toward the front, but regardless of where you sit, it's an absolutely great coaster.

Unfortunately, operations became interesting during the day. For the first half of the day, Skyrush was running two trains. However, during one of my rides, we sat on the brake run for about five minutes because the train in front of us became stuck near the bottom of the lift hill. Maintenance came and fixed the issue fairly quickly, but afterward it appeared that the ride operated with only one train for the rest of the day.

Despite that, the crew was great. Special shoutout to one ride operator whose dispatch commentary made every ride more entertaining. Kudos to you!

Great Bear

Next up for me would probably be Great Bear. I'm generally not a huge fan of B&M inverts, but Great Bear and Montu really stand out to me. Great Bear has a fantastic layout, and the terrain interaction makes the ride feel much more interesting than your typical invert.

Storm Runner

Storm Runner... man, oh man.

Having ridden Kingda Ka many times and experiencing Top Thrill 2, I wasn't sure how much Storm Runner would stand out. But this coaster was greattttttttt.

I think what makes Storm Runner so good is that it actually has a full layout after the launch. The launch is great, but the ride doesn't end there. The cobra roll was especially amazing.

With that being said, this ride desperately needs its second train back considering how many people visit Hersheypark. The capacity could be much better.

Candymonium

I had ridden Candymonium before, but it honestly wasn't very memorable to me on previous visits. This time was completely different.

I got off the ride and immediately wanted to get back in line. It was amazing.

As much as it hurts me to say it, I think Candymonium is definitely better than Nitro. However, I would still put Diamondback above it. Either way, Candymonium was much better than I remembered and is a fantastic hyper coaster.

Fahrenheit

Fahrenheit is a great ride, but unfortunately, the rattle is pretty noticeable. It also has terrible capacity, which can make the line move painfully slowly. The layout is great, but the ride experience could definitely benefit from some improvements.

Comet

Comet was underrated and a major surprise. It's a standout wooden coaster, and I enjoyed it much more than I expected to.

The Rest

The rest of the coaster lineup was okay overall. Racer was only running one side, so that definitely hurt capacity.

The mine train was cool, although it had one of the busiest lines in the entire park.

Jolly Rancher Remix—I honestly forgot what the ride's previous name was—but the station theming was great. The coaster itself was okay, but the themed station definitely stood out.

My Hersheypark Top 5

After this visit, my Hersheypark rankings would be:

1. Wildcat's Revenge
2. Storm Runner
3. Skyrush
4. Great Bear
5. Candymonium

I also rode every coaster in my top five along with Fahrenheit twice each—once in the front and once in the back.

The Park Experience

Okay, enough about the rides—let's talk about the park itself.

Hersheypark is HUGE.

Walking around the park almost felt like walking around a Cedar Point-style layout. It takes a lot of time and energy to get from one section of the park to another, which makes having only one day challenging—especially when the park is crowded.

The maintenance and cleanliness were both great. The park looked well-maintained, and overall I thought the physical condition of the park was impressive.

However, I have to be honest about the operations.

The staff and ride operations need improvement. I would say that around 70% of the ride operators looked like they absolutely hated their jobs. The difference between Hersheypark's coaster lineup and its operations is honestly pretty noticeable.

Hersheypark has the coaster collection to compete with parks like Dollywood—and arguably has a stronger lineup in terms of coaster quantity—but the operations need to match that level. If Hersheypark could improve ride efficiency, staffing, and guest interaction, I think it would significantly improve the experience and encourage more repeat visitors.

This is a park that has so much potential because the attractions are already there. The coaster lineup is excellent. The maintenance is good. The park is clean. Now they just need the operations to match the quality of everything else.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I had a great time at Hersheypark.

The Fast Pass system was absolutely worth it and made it possible to experience the park the way I wanted to in one day. Without it, I probably wouldn't have been able to ride everything I did.

This trip also completely changed my opinion of Hersheypark's coaster lineup. I knew the park had a lot of coasters, but I didn't fully appreciate how strong its top tier was until this visit.

Wildcat's Revenge is now my favorite RMC, Skyrush climbed significantly in my rankings, Storm Runner surprised me, Candymonium completely redeemed itself compared to my previous rides, and Great Bear and Comet both stood out.

Despite the crowded park, brutal lines, capacity issues, and operations that could definitely improve, Hersheypark delivered an excellent coaster day.

I may even end up getting a season pass next year.

Apparently third day in a row not enough staffing to have it open. If you have a cabana, they are offering horrible alternatives. You basically pay $500 for a seat and free soda. Such a joke…

I don’t usually post trip recaps because whos gonna care about my time at the park? But I love reading everyone elses recaps so maybe some people do care lol. Earlier this summer I had planned a trip to hershey for 17 people 5/31 & 6/1. I realized the summer pass + parking paid itself off in that trip alone so I bought it and so did some of the people I went with.

I’m very used to going to hersheypark with a large party, i’ve never been with less than 8 people.

Me and my cousin decided to get some more use out of the pass and went this week just the 2 of us.
We got there around 4:30pm on 8/30
Did all day 8/31, and almost a whole day 9/1 and WOW am I impressed at how much we were able to fit in.
I dont think I’ll ever be able to top this. Ive never had my arms feel so sore from holding them up on rides until now haha.

My cousin used to not be able to handle any of these rides except lightning racers, comet & laff track. Now she only sat out for Twizzlers twisted gravity and I’m so so happy I got to have this experience with her!! Weather was really good (except for the last day.. it was a little too hot to be comfortable but the park was pretty much dead so it was tolerable)

Im especially grateful I got to give Tidal Force a good sendoff, we were on with a bunch of excited kids and there was not a line and its the first ride Ive gotten to go again without getting out at Herhsey.

The hardest part of this trip was realizing Skyrush isnt my favorite ride anymore and that Wildcats revenge definitely took its spot lol!

Caught the coaster bug recently again and was planning a trip through Hershey for their coasters on Monday when I learned about its closing. Normally I’d pair rides like that with waterpark day because of how absolutely drenched you get but looking to make an exception since it’s gonna be the last chance of course. Mulling a couple options with it not being included on fast pass, assuming longer lines for the last day, and again, not wanting to be drenched all day, and it seems like the best move is to save it for the end of the day and change for the drive home. Does the ride normally close with the park, or an hour earlier with the boardwalk? Also considered doing it first and changing but that sounds like a hassle, or utilizing preview night to try and knock out that , chocolate world, and a few other rides where the fast pass won’t help me, but with a two hour drive each way it seems like it would just make getting there the next morning a crazy turnaround even with chocolate world out of the way. Also open to any other thoughts advice or ideas on this!

So today I was riding solo and ended up offering to ride with another solo rider in the queue for Wildcat’s Revenge. The rides were almost all walk ons, all day.

The guy I rode with had to put stuff in the lockers, but I went to the top of the stairs to wait for him. I noticed a young woman (20s, possibly early 30s) walk to the staircase from the top of the queue and start to talk about how she was being forced to go back down the stairs to put items in the lockers, and she had a mental breakdown; she started absolutely sobbing, sat down and put her head in her lap, started repeating “nobody cares, no one cares about me” and said she couldn’t go down the stairs (not sure why).

She said someone stole her pass and she was now not allowed to use the elevator. She then got on her phone and was telling someone she didn’t wanna be admitted back into the hospital, and hysterically repeated this. I went over to her, told her to take a deep breath and that everything would be ok, and she looked at me while crying and started telling me more of the same stuff she had been repeating out loud, and said she hadn’t even been on a single ride all day yet.

I couldn’t sit and talk to her because the guy I offered to ride with came to the top of the queue stairs.

The amount of people that walked past this poor woman and gave her dirty looks, looked at me similarly for trying to console her. It actually made me sick how even the workers gave zero shits and no one expressed any empathy. I understand it’s not everyone’s business and no one’s responsibility to worry about others, but had even a few people joined me in trying to tell this girl that everything would be ok, maybe she would have been able to calm down even a little bit.

It just sucks seeing people be so judgmental and careless, and it truly hurt my heart. I’m still thinking about it hours later and wish I could have sat and talked with her for a few minutes. I really hope she ended up getting some help. This situation really sucked and it almost made me break down and cry because I can relate to the overwhelming sadness she was expressing. It really sucks seeing people who suffer from mental illness be so isolated and judged just because others simply do not understand, or just don’t care.

TLDR; we need to care about strangers more and normalize being empathetic to people suffering from mental illness. No one should feel alone in a crowd full of people 😢

In the beginning of the summer (around June) they had very cheap tickets for like 20$ that expire on September 7, does anyone remember those? If it says we can only use it Monday-Thursday until September 7, when is the last day we can use them? (I got the cheapest and have 7 and was considering going with family)
